PiFromBRC
Last night I turned on my Furman and my POD HD500 didn't fire up. After going through the processes of elimination, it came down to the power supply. I inspected it closely and there were no cracks, gaps, frays, or bends in it. With it unplugged, I squeezed the unit softly and was treated to one hell of a zap-bite. I was surprised to find that L6 doesn't offer replacement power supplies for the end user. Has anybody else dealt with PS failure for no apparent reason? I was fortunate enough to find an OB replacement at Bananas at Large, but this was one hell of a party foul. Rocco_Crocco
Things wear out. How old was it? Did you take it out of the house much to gig?
cruisinon2
Has anybody else dealt with PS failure for no apparent reason? With this particular wall-wart, no...but it's coming like a freight train. Cheap plastic housing + dental floss wires = inevitable failure. I've lost count of the number of power supplies that have crapped out on me over the years. You can treat them with kid gloves, and they still die. Is what it is... BillBee
Power supplies fail - they almost all do over time. L6 has the PS in the store (last time I looked). But there are online vendors too like Sweetwater that carry them. http://store.line6.com/accessories/power.html -B
duncann
Here's one that would work also: http://www.trcelectronics.com/View/Mean-Well/GSM36B09-P1J.shtml
PiFromBRC
I was able to find an open box one at Bananas At Large, so all is good. I was more bummed about getting bit by the little f-er than I was about the failure of the unit. I did find the link that BillBee posted after I made my initial post, however L6 is out of stock on the one I needed. All in all it worked out. I do use the box for club gigging, and used it for a charity event last Saturday, but I am the type of guy who is very careful with his equipment. brue58ski
Hmmmmm. No power supplies for the HD500 available anymore? Sounds like they've bailed on the 500 (X). I wonder if they're making anymore or if they're just getting rid of what's left.
brue58ski
Here's one that would work also: http://www.trcelectronics.com/View/Mean-Well/GSM36B09-P1J.shtml WARNING:WARNING. This won't work. I know according to the specs the "hole" on the connector is 2.1mm but this is WRONG!!!. 2.1mm is too small. I wasted $20 finding this out. The correct measurment is 2.5mm not 2.1mm. I was trying to get an elbow adapter for the 500 and the 2.1 didn't work. The specific measurements were. 5.5 X 2.5. This is what I got. http://www.amazon.com/BiXPower-LC53-Right-Connector-Converter/dp/B004L74PGI This size worked. I don't know why their measurements are so off. I suppose one could use one these with the referenced power supply.
