ncullen
On my HX FX it's showing 3.7.1 and Boot Failure: res= -33 Device doesn't show in updater or HX Edit. Tried factory reset by holding buttons 6 and Tap on power up but to no effect.

jiml6
Try these steps to recover your unit. 1. Unplug the USB cable from BOTH the back of your Helix AND the computer. 2. Turn your Helix device off and on. It will most likely boot into a screen indicating something has failed and the device has entered update mode. 3. Reconnect the USB cable. 4. Launch Line 6 Central. In a failure state, the device will not connect to HX Edit. 5. Select your device and try updating to the latest firmware again. 6. If the update still fails, enter update mode by holding down the footswitch, button or encoders appropriate for your device when powering on from the list below and try the update again using Line 6 Central. Helix Floor and LT: FS6 & FS12 Helix Rack: Encoders 1 & 6 HX Stomp, Stomp XL & HX Effects: Page >

But one more thing: 3.5 Turn off any Screen Saver / Sleep mode on your computer! That step is mentioned in Line 6 Central, but not in the release notes OR HX EDIT. (at least that I saw...) I spent a few hours chasing all this, but we are finally OK. On my first try getting 3.8, HX EDIT left my Helix bricked. It won't even say it exists. Various helpful threads treated this problem before, but they sent me back to LINE 6 UPDATE, which is a bridge too far back. Finally I landed on LINE 6 CENTRAL. It finally could at least see my HELIX, though it still failed update several times. Until I carefully read the steps again, and turned off the Screen Saver / Sleep mode. datacommando
As the “Update Bricked My Helix” topic seems to be eternal it may be time to repost a link to this thread, which always seemed to be the best solution. Simply substitute the current version numbers for every reference and away you go! Hope this helps/makes sense.
