PRODUCTION OF VARIAX GUITARS

I'm sure this has been covered, but Variax guitars are still on the Line 6 website. Does this mean that they are still in production? For sale? Does anyone know?

Secondly, if Line 6 is reading this, how about using the Revstar as a Variax platform?

Thanks

Variax has gone the way of the dodo... and if demand (or rather the lack thereof)  is any indication, they ain't coming back. It's always been a niche product, albeit with a loyal cult following. The masses just aren't interested...

Not in production. There is still stock out there from the last production run, as well as B-stock and refurbished units.

Revstar Variax? Don't know.

Is there repair inventory or are we all on our own if PCB's and jacks fail?

Along the lines of the Variax and our cult following; I was a late-adopter but now have a JTV-89F, A Helix Rack with floor control, and 2 Powercab Plus 1x12s.  This gear is incredible! I did have a neck issue which I was able to replace through full compass.com for pretty cheap and a replacement switch assembly. My guitar is like new now, but I do have the same thoughts about longevity. If I had a spare motherboard lying around with non leaking caps I think I would store it away. I have yet to be able to find one as that is not something sold by itself that I can find other than a place I found in Spain, but they are not shipping to U.S.. Maybe Yamaha will loosen up on that over the next few years. If anyone knows of anywhere else to get a motherboard for a JTV-89F without a full guitar wrapped around it, I'm interested!

And this is what seems to be the 2025 version of what Roland/Boss think of as a Variax. The VG-800.

If it sounded even remotely close to what a Variax with Helix sounded like, I'd be thankful. But it sounds horrible (to my ears) and just does not scratch the surface of what the Variax already is. I think it's that maybe Roland did not get the proper licensing to build on the custom tones. With the proper IR tied to a piezo pickup it would seem that the cat is out of the bag and now it's just up to one of the big names to run with this in a way that won't break the bank.

My gosh...so much talk from that guy, so much expectation...then sounds garbage, and back to talk. Yikes...
