  1. Just a quick level-setting of your understanding of modeling as you move forward with your evaluation since you're new to the game. The TRUE difference between modelers is relatively insignificant. The brains behind all of these modelers are pretty much equivalent as far as processing capabilities despite those that tout newer generations of chips. DSP processing chips aren't like microprocessors in computers. They have a very specific task in life and there haven't been any huge leaps in newer architectures in a while now but those are the differences you've noted as improvements and that's in all modelers. You can increase the overall power by adding additional chips to a unit and that adds to the price tag of the unit, but usually won't make much of a difference in the actual performance of any individual model of the component amps, effects and so forth. Modeling is nothing more than mathematical computations that simulate the behaviors of a circuit in the digital world based on measurements taken on those circuits. So there's no real "magic" in how one builds a model, they're all done the same way. What varies from modeler to modeler can be the level of complexity you neeed in any given preset (which directly relates to the number of DSP processors), the ease and level of integration the unit provides with the outside world, and the simplicity or complexity involved in building a preset. It's abundantly clear from the enormous numbers of blind tests between units, there's no particular single modeler that consistently can be identified as better when judged by a wide audience. Therefore, your best bet in determining what's right for you is to determine how you intend to use it and what kind of user you are. If you want to maintain a typical paradigm where you have everything you'll ever need for a performance baked into a single preset, then you should probably look at something with more DSP chips. If, like me, you prefer to tailor your presets to a given song or genre, or have simple needs in what you need for performance you will have more, but less complex presets, and you can probably get by with fewer DSP chips. What tends to be the most important aspect for a lot of newer users of modeling is how complex the unit is as for as building a useful preset. Not only the complexity involved in using the modeler's interface but also the depth of technical details the modeler allows you to adjust. A good example of this is the Helix compared to the Fractal. The Helix is pretty easy to navigate compared to Fractal and allows you access to a significant amount of technical adjustments on any given model, whereas the Fractal doesn't have the easiest interface but does allow you to access and adjust significantly more technical details. So this really boils down to evaluating what's best for you in terms of how technical you might be or how little you care about the deep technical details that could be involved in building your presets. Personally, I've always told friends of mine that want to get into modeling that the issue is more about evaluating YOU than evaluating the different modelers. If you understand what will make you happiest and how you like to work, that will naturally lead youto the best unit for your needs.

  2. Two things: - make sure you assign the desired parameter (in this case the Drive level) to the Snapshot controller. To do this, push and rotate the parameter knob. The value will then appear in white brackets indicating that the assignment has been made. - In Global settings you will find a parameter that controls whether or not Snapshot changes are saved or discarded when you switch snapshots before saving the preset. Make sure you understand how this works and set it to your preference.

  3. Recap. You asked for a solution to an unusual problem. I explained why MIDI won't work, and suggested a possible, though expensive, solution (that was me, not phil). I set up a test to simulate using a single exp pedal to control two gain blocks using my HX Floor (again, that was me, not phil), and reported the results, which were inconsistent, and advised that it would be an expensive experiment. I asked, out of curiosity, why you were using two LTs. You replied: That struck both myself and phil as strange, since it's a problem that most of us resolve within the 8 block confines of an HX Stomp using EQ and IRs. You then ADDED: Fair enough. You proposed using a couple of cheaper solutions. I then researched the EHX, which MIGHT work. I can't test the Y-cable thing because I don't have an outboard exp pedal. As for CV Out, from page 9 of the HELIX FLOOR Manual: "CV/Expression Out - Connect to the expression pedal input on stompboxes or CV (Control Voltage) input on vintage pedals or synths." That indicates to me that it's sending a variable voltage which I wouldn't want to risk connecting to something that doesn't specifically call for it. But then I'm no electrical engineer either. Also, per the LT Manual's back panel diagram, the LT doesn't have a CV out. Having already reported inconsistent results using a similar configuration (single exp pedal), I replied truthfully, in what I thought was a humorous manner. You apparently took offense. I'll not apologize for my sense of humor. Bottom line, if it's that important to you, you need to take a risk on a POSSIBLE solution. How much you want to invest in the experiment is up to you. I've done all I could for you, researching two pedals, reading manuals and conducting an experiment to test the theory. DEMANDING that the conversation be taken off-line because I haven't followed your rules as "Owner" of the thread, and haven't provided a positive solution to your unusual problem using HW that I haven't personally used, is, frankly, unreasonable, rude and offensive. More importantly, the purpose of this forum is to provide a space where USERS (none of us work for Line6) can help other users. IF you find a solution to your UNUSUAL problem, I HOPE that you'll be considerate enough to report it here, so that it might be helpful to others. Good Luck in your quest. I await your report on the ultimate solution.

  4. I want a second page of stomps. if i have 15 effects in a preset, why am i limited to 10 foot switches? give us the option to add a second page with the additional foot switches for on the fly control over every part of a preset. im using my helix 4cm with an amp and would love to not be limited to just 10 stomps

  5. Ok but where do I find that? It's not anywhere that I can find.

  6. It works in Big Sur. Install Line 6 Audio Midi Driver 7.6.8.dmg and like mentioned by sebastiansantos, "Go to system preferences and open the security and privacy tab. On the "allow apps downloaded from" tab click the padlock and allow the Line 6 installation" Once you've done that, reboot and it will work. I started another guitar software (apparently we're not worthy of Pod 2 Farm license) and it's working flawlessly.

  8. Hi, Like the majority that posted in this thread, I have real difficulty in using the Spider App on my Android. I have purchased an adaptor for USB to USB 3 (quite cheap on Ebay) so I can connect my phone directly into the Amp with the dedicated cable . Mind you, there is a switch with two positions at the back of the amp. One needs to choose the correspondent one, either Android or IOS. However, only after I have found this forum I discovered there is an app for my laptop as well. That makes your life much easier. You can find loads of tones, modify them to your liking, rename them, replace the pre-loaded tones from your amp with the ones you found and saved on your laptop or in "My Tones" folder online. I agree with everyone that Line 6 should come up with a tutorial or user guide for using the app.
