  1. The problem with monitor speakers is they are not a live playing solution, take that in mind. If you feel you will never play live then studio monitors would be the best solution.
  2. I believe it has something to do with the merging of DT and Stagescape monitors. I think Line 6 is doubling down on the entire FRFR rig......
  3. Here's the process that worked for me. Set Master Level on HD500 all the way clockwise. I created a master acoustic patch (- 5 db at 70 hz, 22 % mix plate reverb), mixer 6db. From here I used the mixer on all my other patches to balance their volume compared to the acoustic master patch Now your patches are balanced. You can set the volume on your L2t based on the venue and your patches will remain balanced.
  4. A lot of people use the QSC monitors. Anyone considering the QSC should look at the L2m/L2t. I finally completed the dream rig with a L2t and I am in love. Using the JTV -69 and HD500, I can play an unbelievably accurate 12 string acoustic playing into a rotary speaker(Hotel California), then switch to a screaming solo. If you believe in FRFR you have to take a look at the L2 series.
  5. Line 6 offered Model Packs with the XT but not the X3L. As I remember the user community really liked it..........One can only surmise that Line 6 did some sort of analysis and came to the conclusion that the extra business/good will was not worth the effort. At the end of the day we have to agree that Line 6 like other companies is driven by the profit motive. You have to believe Line 6 knows about the Model Pack market. I feel your pain, but at some time you gotta accept...........it ain't gonna happen.
  6. I was using the term obsolete as it pertains to product management. But I think it makes sense to hold off the purchase until NAM 14.
  7. I own a HD500 and want to upgrade to a HD Pro X. How long do you think it will be before a new product line is released that obsoletes the X series?
  8. Before you completely settle on the DT take an objective look at the L2t or L2m. If you intend on using your JTV / HD500 's accoustic tones you will be disappointed with the DT. Read around on this site and watch a couple of the vid's about the L2t via Link 6. Even if you choose the DT you won't regret the time you spend researching the L2t.
  9. Here are a couple of hints: 1. Use HD Edit. 2. Do what you normally do. It sounds like you like tube amps and a few fx. Well select an amp. The last time I looked all of the amps are modeled tube amps. WHen you look at the pics of the amp, Click on the various noobs, until you get a sound you like. (Overtime you will start to understand the amps.) 3. Select an fx - play with the noobs Its only difficult and complicated if you allow it.......And please stop whinning........:-)
  10. if you are using both electric and accoustic patches then you should seriously look at the L2t or L2m. The L2t and L2m are the same execept the L2t has a mixer. THe extra functionality of the mixer is about $100. In either case, I think if you do a blind testing with the L2 in the fold you find out 2 things. 1) The electric patches are pretty darn accurate. 2) The accoustic patches are phenomial.
  11. I completeed the my dream rig with a L2t. While we have different amps the DT and L2t pose the same problems. As a first shot, I modified each electric patch by -9db. It took about an hour.....I had at least tamed the rig, so I wouldn't have to worry about my ear drums. Start out slowly. My guess, once you tame the volume you will hear things you never heard before. I did. Fix the obvious problems. I finally heard fizz. Don't add more FX. Try simplifing. My biggest take away from editing/creating patches since I completed my rig, is that I can create great tones with far fewer fx, especially parametric equalizers and graphic equalizers. For the most part the amp itself will give me the tones I am looking for.
  12. When you hook the L2m up to your HD 500 prepare to be in awe......It will be the best $750 you spent.
  13. Hi All, I am thinking about upgrading from a HD500 to a HD Pro X & FBV MK2. I must admit that I don't know anything about the MK2 and what it takes to configure to run with the HD Pro X. Ultimately, I would like the conversion to be seamless....ha ha.... Is there anything folks can point me to? I faq.... Also, what is the work flow like? I mean for my HD500, I just brought up HDEdit and configured the switches for each patch, done. Does HD500 do the same thing for the FBV?
  14. This forum is littered with the following question........ What are you using to amplify your HD500?........Why do my patches sound like crap, using a guitar amp?.....How do you hook up using 4 cables? What mode should I use? Every HD owner, or more specifically every owner of an amp modeling pedal is a potential customer of StageScape. So yeah, if I was Line 6 and had to balance support for HD500 (create more amps, fx and more functionality) or enhance the FRFR capabilities so you can sell more hardware, that is a no brainer. Duh. The only thing I want to know is when do they plan on replacing the HD products. Hopefully, they are already working on it and they are taking our suggestions and adding/fixing all the stuff we would like in the HD.
  15. Before I go further. I don't work for Line 6. The StageSource firmware upgrade supports Line6's DreamRig concept of JTV---->PODHD---->L2m. Which runs in total $2700. Show me an analog system Strat, Marshall 1/2 stack and a couple of stomps that aren't in that price range. This is Line 6s vision........and frankly it is something I have bought into hook line and sinker. I completed my DreamRig last month when I purchased a L2t. $750. With one stroke I hooked up my HD500 via line6 link. No complicated 4 wire hook ups. No breaking my back with amps and spreaker. Just a small 800 wat frfr package. With in minutes I was hearing accoustic patches that were wonderful and in the next second the ballsiest heavy grunged patch you could imaging. If you just consider the HD500 and L2t for a price point of $1350 that is incredible, show me something better? BTW if you want stereo add another $650. With out a doubt, I would say to anyone who has a HD500, Take a serious look at the L2t/L2m. For those of use who have bought into modeling and are focused on the sound, you will not be disappointed. We are only talking about the uses for a guitarist, If you want to do a small intimate accoustic gig, no problem the L2t has an onboard mixer that will accomodate a mic, an accoustic, the HD500, an MP3 player. Good luck trying that on your 4 cable system. I could go on and on. With that in context I think it is a great move that Line 6 released the firmware update for StageScape. Go Line 6 Go.......
  16. Hey All, I've been watching a lot of Line 6 videos on HD500 dual paths..........Almost all the time Sean does the iphone look, HD 500 LCD display, as he demonstrates the how to's. For a lot of reasons I don't like the HD 500 interface and I never use it to create, edit or manage my patches. I always use HD Edit. Right, wrong or indifferent thats me.......... Anyway, here is my question.........What HD500 capabilities/functionality am I missing out on? Are there functionalities available in the HD500 that I can not get at because I only use HD Edit?
  17. I just replaced my old ipad 1 for a ipad air........When I went to practice I tried to connect my Mobilizer to the ipad air. Imagine my shock when I figured out that the new ipad has the newer connection that was introduced for the most recent iphone. Any body have any suggestions?
  18. Hey all, Last night my trem bar fell out during practice (JTV-69). Should I just push the bar back in place. How do you make sure it woun't fall out?
  19. JTV-69 --> POD HD 500 ---> L2t (Link 6) Depress Tunner Button: 1. Volume lowers 2. Tuner screen appears (the actual freq or tone bar does not appear) Turn volume button 0 - 100 % several time. no effect Any body have any thoughts.
  20. There is nothing to stop you from doing it. You won't harm anything. I have the Atomic 112-50. It's great. If I had no other alternative I would use it for a monitor. Since you are usig it as a monitor, you can work with the sonic quality or lack of it. At the end of the day a monitor allows you to hear what is going on.
  21. Not too long ago I completed the Dreamrig with the L2t. (JTV 69, HD500). I could not believe how good the acoustic patches sounded. I also found that I was over driving the patches with eq and compressors to raise the volume. I took every thing out except reverb and an eq to lower the low freqs, I was able to set the mixer to 6 db. WHile you can't play the acoustic patches as hard as a real acoustic guitar, you can play them hard. The dynamic range is pretty wide before you over drive. Since you have the L2t and 800 wats. You can always turn the amp up and lay back a little on your playing.
  22. Try an AC-30. Also, I would put a red compressor as the first fx.
  23. Karl, Regardless of how you fix the problems there are still problems. You are aright that firmware releases alone might not be able to solve all things HD. Delivering a great piece of equipment at $500, is a series of engineering trade offs. I get it. Here is the paradox. At $500 this is arguably the best modeling solution ever......eventhough it is flawed.....
  24. Karl, I have owned POD Pro, XT Live, X3L,and the HD500. I seems that each release improved on features and sonic quality until the HD. The HD product had a significant increase in sonic quality but a step back in features that we came to expect. As I said the HD500 as it sits is a good value. We could start a new thread. But here are just a few nits. 1. Limited DSP. Yes I know the X has been released. I would upgrade to the X if I understood how long Line 6 is comittmented to this architecture. Not knowing means I would have to risk my precious GAS allocations, to a product that might be obsoleted by a new product sooner than expected......Yes I know this isn't firmware but the fact that an underpowered product was initially released forcing the X release a year of so latter really means I have to purchase the X to get the power that most expected from the HD500. Essentially 2X $. 2. Improved equalizers (percent vs actual freq) really.......When they were designing and testing these features, I'm sure a guitarist was not part of the review. Come on, is there anyone who can make a defense of this with a staight face. These might be sonically the best equalizers aroung, but the total fail at the user interface makes them difficult or (flawed). 3. Flexible outputs ( 1/4 inch and xlr) ( don't know if this is a firmware issue or hardware). We had all this in X3l. I know all the arguments back and forth, buyer beware, do your homework. Look at all the features vs the cost. I am sure that most of the loyal Line 6 PODers just assumed the the cool connectivity/recording features that were part of X3l would be part of the HD500. Why wouldn't they? It is what made the X3l a great piece of gear. 4. Improved fx. Those chorus fx(s) in particular could use some work. 5. But let me say this when you hook it up to a JTV-69 and a L2t. It is the best solution I have ever had.
