Contact Line 6 Support on that, log a ticket in your Line 6 account, they might be able to answer that question for you. Don't know how backwards compatible it will be for earlier pre-HD Variax guitars.

As far as I know, the DigiKey supply is NOT a 'drop in' replacement. Use at your own risk. Just remember, that any modifications that alter the unit function may and can void any warranty. If something were to go wrong and it ends up on my repair bench, chances are I'd have to send it back untouched. Just so you are all aware.

Do not use v1.8x,... there was glitch in it where, if you tried to update later from there, you have a 50/50 chance of locking up the program board (bricking it), making it non functional. At that point, I would have less than a 50/50 chance of bringing that board back to life with the tools I have here at Line 6. So Do not use v1.8x.

Download to your computer desktop and update from there. Monkey is no longer on the Line 6 server. You can download it to your computer and use it as a stand alone app.

Loose chassis ground on a pick up or the bridge, loose connector not fully inserted are the prime suspects.

Noise like that is typically due to a floating ground somewhere. A product that old may have a number of oxidized intermittent solder points or a loose connector. Have a Line 6 authorized service center check it out.

Don't use the Line 6 Server, update from your local C-Drive on the computer. Download the Central , then download the Firmware (v2.23). Connect Variax to computer as you would for an update. Open Central and sign in, make certain "My Computer" comes up as "Authorized", and your Variax comes up on Central. Click on the Variax and an update window should come up. There should be a virtual button that says "Update from File", ... click on it. Find the TylerVariax_2.23.vxf file and update from that.

Don't have that info on hand about the original ratings. Super old product so that is probably buried deep in some archive. Vacuum tube SVT would be pretty substantial cable, as tube amps pull a lot of power. Same criteria would apply.

Best bet is the 105 C cable for something like that. Bigger diameter means more insulation means it can handle more heat. So chances are the bigger diameter and 105 C would be the better cable to use.

Yes, they are the same. Use the 'official' Line 6 batteries, and not the so called 'compatible' batteries, avoid 3rd party batteries. I've seen too many problems with those over the years, with Variaxes that come across my repair bench.

Yes,... there is only so much intonation adjusting one can do before you 'run out of road' as the saying goes, as the intonation adjusting screw are only so long.

1/2" is pushing limits in regards to how much leeway margin there will be when setting the intonation. Doing a neck swap would complicate things. You would need a well tooled Luthier for that, so that it fits right in the body's neck pocket. Plus,... whatever you put the electronics in, the tone and overall sound will be different. Especially since the PRS body is a mahogany/maple combo and the 89F is all mahogany body. So in some bodies it's more noticeable, in other bodies not as much. Body acoustics are part of the modeling process. You would have to find a way to fit the 89F bridge in the PRS body (another job for the Luthier) in order to use the piezos, as they are matched for the inputs of the processor board (hence the colored connectors). It can be done. Care and intimate knowledge are required. Not for the faint of heart. Carlos Rios who plays for Stevie Nicks has two examples of successful transplants into SG copies, as SG bodies are symmetrical, they can be wired for a lefty player like Carlos. And yes, I've had the honor and pleasure of having them on my bench. Mr Taggert does good work, though I did some mods and repairs to the electronics.

Check the computer OS compatibility on the downloads page for the Firmware you are trying to load. Monkey is no longer connected to the Line 6 server. Check the compatibility on that as well. Find a computer or the 'way back' software that will run the earlier OS. Download Monkey and the Firmware you want to update. There will be a button in Monkey to update from a file, click on that and update from your desktop locally.

Go to Downloads page, download Updater or Central to your computers, download Firmware files to your computers, then do the updates locally on your computers rather than update from the Line 6 servers. The servers are no longer supporting and not connecting, so update Firmware locally from your computers.

Monkey is no longer connected to the server. On the Downloads page, Download Monkey and desired Firmware onto your computer. Connect for update, then on Monkey, it says 'Update from File'. Click on it, find and open firmware. Then update locally on your computer desktop from there.

silverhead,... report it to Support or Tony, so they can try to replicate and reproduce it. Then they can see about reporting as a bug after it's been gone through.
