Is anyone using a M5 in the FX Loop of their HD550X? Just have a few simple questions before I dive in.

Sorry, I am running HD EDIT, MONKEY, and VARIAX WORKBENCH all on Yosemite with no problems…. no help here.

Charlie, you know me, I'm all about my 500's and I use the VDI to HD500X exclusively. He can get a whole new coffin at Full Compass. He still says that it works perfectly with his XT LIVE though? It's very odd. He just got his 500X yesterday.

Ok, so he's telling me HD500X did the same thing. Works for about 5 minutes and dies. His tech guy says the new power supplies aren't powerful enough to sustain a charge on the first model of variax?? Something sounds fishy to me…I suggested yesterday that he try a different cable. Like a typical CAT5 (just for a test). He also says "I may have a new issue with the input on it. It sounds like a bad connection somewhere as unless I give it a loud input it breaks up ever so slightly. When I open the volume control ( active lace pups on 4 different guitars) it goes away when I turn up the pre channel on the virtual amp. Struggling to get a clean country/ mark Knophler Sultains tone. He's saying that his 300 is the very first model and may have different requirements than a later model 300. Can anyone confirm? Says he's tried 2 different VDI cables and both cut off after 5 minutes.

I'm waiting to hear back from my friend. He was working with his new 500x yesterday. I'll keep you posted.

I went through the entire list last night and changed from JTV to 500 and also set all of them to "input 1 source : guitar+variax" and input 2 source : aux" I had never given the input source much thought before. I have read here on the forum that it is best to not have the 2 sources set to : SAME. I notice a very big drop in presence and volume when input 2 source is shut down. Good and bad thing. It left me at a point of struggling to turn some of these patches up loud enough. After going through the entire list, can't remember which one but one of the patches had no sound period, no matter what I did. I also found the patch for "Come As U R" to be dead on. I love it! I had been tinkering and tweaking trying to get this sound right and L6 nailed it. It's found a permanent spot on my board.

Thought I might add that the patch for "Come As U R" is spot on… I'm gonna be using that one this weekend.

Which one doesn't work and what isn't working? My patch is tweaked to use Variax 500 / Special-1

It's been my experience that most patches, shared, don't translate well between guitars and rigs but I will post mine (tonight) here as well. The only reason I didn't post mine was that I didn't want to hear a bunch of posts about how it doesn't sound right. All I know is that it works for my situation. Mastersonics,,,,, my 500 matches my clown shoes. :D

What variax model are you using with this? Just curious. I have my own Lonely Boy patch but I wanna compare. :)

Thanks Dave, Unfortunately he is in Florida and I am in Connecticut. I believe he only has one Variax. the 300 (solid body). He does also use regular guitars. I will post the outcome of this afternoon's test.

OK so he says that the VDI cable with his 300 and XT LIVE works perfectly. He says that his 500 only works for about 5 minutes and shuts down (the power to the variax). He is getting ready to try his new 500x this afternoon.

I have never owned a 300 but a friend of mine is telling me that his HD500 would not power the 300 through the variax cable. He has upgraded to a 500x now but can any of you verify if the 300 power should be supported by either unit?

Here is a picture of the finished guitar. Just a note, on the next one, I will leave the low E string Ghost wiring longer. Maybe more like .85" - 1". I came too close for comfort with not being able to pull that saddle back far enough for proper intonation.

I think you are going to have to remove the space between "lonely" and "boy" in the file itself, to get that link to work.

Line 6 is a funny funny company.. The LAST thing I would do on a Thursday night before gigging all weekend is start flashing firmware and diving deep into my gear... Have fun guys, I'll catch up on Sunday. HAHAHA
