Which size Graphtech Ghosts for Variax 600
leesteel replied to dx2ylhv1a's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
Hi Charlie, just a note to say, not sure if Graphtech changed anything in the design, but I initially turned mind down as you suggested and I lost all the presence from my guitar. I turned them back up again. My stock 500 and the 500 with ghost saddles are sonically interchangeable. I am not noticing any ghost notes or overdriven patches. -
Man, I'm becoming a PeterJH groupie. When I see a post from him, I drop everything, turn off iTunes and get right into the thick of it. :) Thank you Peter, you are a very generous man! Tube Drive always sounds much smoother (to me) this is very close to the tone I prefer. Tube Screamer (drive higher) very dark and muddy. Tube Screamer (drive lower) sounds much better (again to me). Peter, this is your Les Paul in the bridge position?

Sorry but I have a really dumb question, have you tried a different USB cable? -

help error updating usb firmware to 1.04 on pod hd 500x
leesteel replied to youngcristian's topic in POD HD
Maybe it could be too much stuff on the USB buss. How about unplugging everything but the mouse, keyboard, and HD. Making sure the HD is directly plugged into a port on the computer. Sorry, grabbing at straws here. -
Jandrio does a great job on that song. Yes, covering two different solos, two different harmonies in the same song.

Got it!

You are welcome!

I didn't mean that in a derogatory way toward anyone. It took me 40 years to realize that most of the volume complaints were coming from either my guitar amp or another guitar player's amp. Changing over to running my guitar direct to the pa was a milestone and took a lot of getting used to on my part. I have had Marshall stacks, Ampeg V4 stacks, Fender, Roland, Music Man, pretty much "you name it". Now I have a good monitor.

You could check with Jay at Tarcaseco. Give him some measurements and see what he says. tarcaseco@comcast.net

False. UAD plugins run out of DSP very easily depending on how many you are using at any given time. That's why UA gives you a DSP monitor window.

That is a fine demo! Great job.

I can't figure out how to save a 500X patch so that it also changes the M5 to call up a preset. Right now I have the POD set for OMNI and the M5 is set on Channel 1. I have also tried having both set to OMNI. I can get a button on the POD to map to the M5 but I don't want to have to hit a button to load the M5, I want it saved in the POD patch so when I call up that patch, the M5 also switches to the correct patch. As it stands now, there seems to be a 1 - 1 relationship between the first 24 presets on the pod and the 24 presets on the M5. 1A=01, 1B=02 etc... Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have already figured out how to link the tap on the POD and M5

#1 make sure you have all OSX updates in place. #2 test your USB port with some other device. #3 Uninstall Monkey and reinstall. Make sure Monkey is up to date. #4 Look for my thread titled "follow the bouncing monkey" you might find a clue, compare your own folders. #5 Monkey should prompt you to upgrade USB also. Beyond that, I have nothing else to add. You are asking forum members to speculate you your problems that "they" have not experienced. http://line6.com/support/topic/12949-follow-the-bouncing-monkey/?hl=bouncing+monkey

Having your own amp onstage in a small club is very self indulgent IMHO. Only you and the handful of people standing in front of you, get to hear the sound the way you intend it to be.

Pan pedal?

I am also going direct to mixer with no amp. (haha one less thing to carry and set up). This is probably why your patches translated as well as they did. Many of the ones I get from Customtone don't fare as well. Thanks again.

Hey Peter, Went through all of your patches last night and checked them out. I had to do a little tweaking since I am using Variax 500s and you obviously use the real deal. I noticed that all your tones have a tight grip on the noise gate with both settings at 50%. I had to relax that a little to get the same effect you display in your videos. I ended up around 70% / 30% for decay and threshold. Perhaps this might be due to the difference between mag pickups and the Variax pizos. I also found myself bumping the Parametric EQ "highs" up to about 70%, just trying to match my tone with the tone you get in your videos. Overall, you have given new life to amps I had given up on, so kudos to you sir. I am sure I will end up using some bits and pieces in my own show. -Lee

JC120 should have been part of the initial release. There, I said it. Cary on.

Most likely did Max, I certainly had one back then.
