  1. I have done a Ghost transplant on one of my 500s. I currently use 2 alternate tunings. Drop D and Capo Ab. I haven't noticed any cross talk but when I do my next transplant, (coming up soon) I will pay closer attention to the space between. I would honestly recommend sand paper. I think you would be able to be more accurate. On slip of a dremel tool (and I have one of those too) and you are done. The ghost saddle material seems to be tuff but I don't think it would be any harder than shaping a brass nut. I have not tried this yet I am just guessing. I did use a small piece of emory cloth to take some sharp edges off the ghost saddles that I put on a strat once. (non piezo string savers).
  2. (good live vid of 12 Foot Ninja) That is AWESOME! Nice job Stevic! Nice use of the vocal harmonizer also….. (just saying)
  3. You should be able to lay the saddle side, on a sheet of fine sandpaper (800) and rub it. I would have a measuring device on hand like a dial caliper so you can monitor the amount of material you are removing from each side.
  4. I hear the entire mix every night. Sometimes the mix is so overwhelming that it makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck. That's a great picture….. THE DEAD?
  5. I am using the Mackie 1608 with an iPad.. We get an amazing sound and also get to store our settings per venue to recall the next time we are in there. Most times, no sound check needed except to assure the signal is physically there. No guitar amp on stage. 2 powered mains behind me and one powered monitor on the floor in front. I even manage feedback with a Variax, imagine that. I purchased the HD500X so I could eliminate the amp on stage and have never looked back.
  6. Some of us set up with our PA speakers behind us….. It's a groundbreaking concept.
  7. I would love to try one out.. I'm sure it is awesome.
  8. Makes sense. You will have to purchase a L6 USB port or use a bean. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Line-6-Variax-Workbench-Editing-Software-for-Line-6-/171907489276?hash=item28067c1dfc
  9. I have been on a consolidation kick. Set up and tear down is the worst part of any gig. I count the number of steps it takes and any time I can eliminate a step, I do it. I don't even play through an amp any more. I sold my amps, I sold my pedals. I bring 2 Variax 500s and the HD500X with an H9 in the FX Loop. The way I look at it, I made my money back on the 500X with every piece of gear it replaced and every step it eliminated.
  10. Does anyone here know for certain if you can swap necks between a 500 and 600? Thinking that I might like to put a 500 rosewood neck on a 600 body.
  11. Thanks, I will play a little more tonight. Should I place the Vocoder AFTER the amp? I get the way a Vocoder works, The only real time I could hear much is when I was singing the same note I was playing. Both inputs are set to Guitar/Variax. Did not check the mic input volume knob.
  12. After seeing a Russian video on Youtube of a guy using the HD500 with a microphone to simulate the Bon Jovi talk box effect, I dove in last night to try it out and did not have much luck.. I started off very simple, Vocoder > Amp > Out… No noise gate or compressor or anything else to mess with the signal but I just couldn't anything useful to come out. Anybody have any insight into turning this into something I can use live?
  13. Just got the new Musician's Friend catalog today…. Helix is in there. $1500 ready.. set.. GO!
  14. Yes and better yet, you could upgrade to Ghost saddles. The only thing you will run into in that scenario is that the Ghost saddles have a ground wire that must be connected so you will need to locate ground on the little circuit board. If you decide to go that route, you could send me a picture of the circuit board and I can assist you in making the mod. http://www.graphtech.com/products/brands/ghost/ghost-pickups---guitar
  15. Thanks again,,,, every little bit helps.
  16. The 600 bridge is similar to the one shown in my post about Ghost saddle installation except instead of a mylar ribbon, there is a small circuit board attached to the block on the bottom of the bridge. Each saddle (L6 type) has a single wire that passes through and is soldered to this circuit board. Here is a youtube video of what yours looks like. https://youtu.be/9itJCmOZC-k
  17. You are correct, sorry, I took the picture in the middle of a frustrated session of making changes. I had both inputs set to Guitar+Variax as shown in post #3.
  18. This is what is working now.
  19. That's not working... This is my current setting.. I'm getting everything you see through the RIGHT side and NOTHING on the LEFT SIDE. Tried adding the acoustic amp to the left side and still nothing. The only way I can get anything to come through the left side is to put the noise gate at the junction of the input as in my first picture. Then I get clean, unaffected guitar on the left and my fx chain on the right.
  20. The best point being made here is that if you are happy with your tone and patches, it is pointless to invest 3x the price of an HD500X on a Helix.
  21. Thanks Silverhead, So this is what you are suggesting?
  22. http://www.fullcompass.com/prod/249357-Line-6-50-02-9331 That is the part you are looking for. $21
  23. Great job as always Peter. Don't really want to hear that you are quitting though. I'm sure you will come up with something else brilliant to share.
