I have a few of these that I would sell below cost. I ended up not using them.
-
Thanks, I will give that a try. I currently have my HD500x running mono out into a XLR splitter, one to the monitor and one to the desk. My other path in the signal chain is strait through clean as a reference source for my TC Helicon Voicelive to use for harmony.

Thank you, I ordered a L2M today. Can't wait.

Please clarify, HD500X into L2M via L6 Link. Is that the only connection I need between the two? Are there any benefits to this setup?
-
L6 states in their NAMM video that the new FB will replace the older ones. My question is, why release a new Amplifi when they haven't fixed the problems with the 150? I ended up selling mine because it was useless. The iPad (as many others have stated) would not stay connected.

You can use a standard CAT5 cable for this as long as you are careful. -

New 500 owner. Problems with selector switch

1. Hook everything up as if you are about to play with the 700 powered up with the XPS A/B box, turn your amp down enough just so you can hear the beeps when sounded. 2. Set the guitar mode select switch to Custom1 to start called min. in the instructions below. 3. Set the 5-way selector switch to position 2 (towards neck setting). 4. Pull the XPS cable out at the guitar's input jack. 5. Pull up on the mode select knob. 6. Insert the XPS cable back into the guitar's input jack. Calibrate Model Select Knob 7. The Variax outputs a long, low frequency tone to indicate entry into this mode. 7A. Turn the model select knob from min (Custom1) to max (Custom2) back to min (Custom1) with a medium smooth speed. When you get back to min you will hear the 1st beep for step 8. Then continue with 8. 8. Turn the model select knob (slowly) from min (Custom1) to max (Custom2), wait until you hear a beep at each select mode before turning to the next select mode, then return to min. (Custom1). 9. When finished, the Variax outputs a short low tone followed by a short low, high, low sequence followed by a longer higher tone. The Variax returns to the mode select state. 10. Push the Model Select knob down, this should be all you have to do. -

Full Compass has the replacement rotary switch. There are also calibration steps to set that knob so that it lands on the correct spots for each guitar. -

I agree with Cyberi4n, get yourself 100ft gigabit ethernet cables. They are sheilded and typically heavier quality. They work perfectly. Usually they have a nice plastic guard over the connector to protect the snap-in tab.

Damn, forgot about that one… I had one of those too. Altair Power Limiter?

HAHA, this is exactly what I was going to bring up.. Rockman? What? I believe the original Boston sound WAS the Tom Sholtz Power Soak and a Marshall Amp, before "Rockman" got involved. Tom designed it when he was working at Poleroid and created the whole sound of the band around it. I had a 200W Marshall Major head and 2 cabs with a power soak. It sounded incredible at a controllable club volume. If L6 was going to emulate something interesting, this would be a great device to model. It was little more than a bank of high wattage resistors mounted on a heat sink with switchable paths to dial in the right amount of attenuation but it obviously had very unique sonic qualities. http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-TOM-SCHOLZ-ROCKMAN-POWER-SOAK-SPEAKER-ATTENUATOR-MODEL-PS3-AMPLIFIER-AMP-/221601960118?hash=item33988190b6 With regard to the interview video above, Frank Zappa used the "fixed wah" midrange approach years before Boston was thinking of it.

Variax 300 And Hd 500 .. How Well Do They Work?
leesteel replied to beatle123's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
Nothing out there beats my 500's -
I've seen others discuss this but all of a sudden, my HD500X has decided that the volume of the patch should be lower from time to time. To be more clear, I have a distorted patch that I am using, If I change to a different patch, clean for example, and then go back to the previous distorted patch, this patch is at a lower volume than it is supposed to be. Some times it takes several switches back and forth to get the volume back where it is supposed to be.

Replace Variax 300 neck
leesteel replied to TheBeatnics's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
There were some pictures here in the forum where someone was showing how to modify a mim strat neck to fit.. Let me look around. http://www.warmoth.com/Guitar/Necks/Vortex_WarmothPro.aspx http://www.fenderforum.com/forum.html?db=&topic_number=733360 http://sweetwoodguitars.com/replacement-necks.cfm http://www.harmonycentral.com/forum/forum/guitar/acapella-41/1312123- -
It's a poor implementation of midi on L6's part. I found a work around for my rig but not being able to send out a specified PC# when you initialize the patch with the button (other than the hard coded one) is bad planning on their part. As much as I love their products, I have been using midi since the early 90's and for me, L6 dropped the ball here. I'll bet this is fixed on the Helix.

Where's the love for the bass
leesteel replied to jeremyjones's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
I think that Line 6 was just too far ahead of their time when they came out with the 700 and 705. The market just wasn't ready for them yet.
