Hated it, could not get a good tone. Could not even get close to the same great tone I get from position 1 on the Variax 500. It was a useless purchase and it's right back on eBay where I got it from.

To Ghost or not to Ghost….. Hmm

Thanks for posting Dave, the Ghost saddles have 2 leads, hot and ground. -
Thanks for responding Charlie! I just bought a 700 and it's set to arrive today. I particularly like the idea that there is a slider to control the mix between pairs of strings in the 12-string voices.

That's a great deal.. I will pass it on to some friends.

Does anyone know the thread size of the back plate screws. To me they look like 4-40 but they could be metric. Anyone know for sure?
-
Just wondering if anyone here has used a Variax 700 Acoustic with their HD500X yet?
-
Thanks Charlie, yes, I hate having guitars that are the same.

Just got done refinishing one of my 500s with nitrocellulose purchased from Guitar Re-Ranch. This is Fender "sea foam green". The pick guard is from Chandler. Not finished yet. Still need to c-sink the pick guard screws but you get the drift. Prepping another body now that is going to be TV Yellow with the original black pearl pick guard.

I don't think any sweat got to the electrical connection. Come on, I would have had to dump a glass of water on there to make that kind of impact. I just got the saddle wet. All of a sudden, my high E string just went "plink" and didn't ring at all. -
Anybody want to buy a 150?
-
Just a heads up. I have a few 500s and one of them is the well documented Ghost upgrade that is shown here on the forum somewhere. I did a show last week that was quite hot and sweaty. I think that sweat got to one of the bridge saddles and one of my strings stopped working. After bringing my guitar home and drying it off and allowing it to sit overnight. It worked fine the next day and worked fine all last weekend. I can't find anything online about this happening but I will be keeping a close eye on it before upgrading another.

Has anyone tried running their HD500X into a DLM12 yet?
-
I purchased this exact part: http://www.fullcompass.com/product/429493.html and used it to replace the assembly in my Variax500. The little door took some getting used to.

I am using the Acoustic amp in my current setlist. Sounds fantastic through the PA..

Ditto

Same thing here, the app says No Device and on my iPad, bluetooth settings still say connected. I must close the app and reopen it to re-establish the connection.
-
My 150 also dropping it's bluetooth connection every time I click on "Save to My Tones". Very frustrating.
-
My Amplifi 150 is also dropping the bluetooth connection constantly. I happens every time I click on "SAVE TO MY TONES". Here is a line to L6's troubleshooting instructions. I have not checked to see what frequency my wifi is running at. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/amplifi-products/amplifibluetoothconnectivity

I run my HD500X direct to the FOH and use a monitor, no amp. Once I freed my mind of the idea of having an amp on stage, I never looked back. :) On the H9, I mainly use it for reverb right now. I have 3 or 4 reverb patches that I like and have paired them with patches on the 500X. When I hit the button for my preset, the H9 is told what user preset to call up via midi from the 500X to the H9. As someone else suggested, just change your Timeline to Midi Channel 2 and set the midi channel for the Tap Button to be Channel 2. That should perform exactly as you are expecting.
-
OOps, yup exactly! Unless you want to set up the timeline to respond to patch changes as I do with my H9.
-
Midi out of the HD500X to Midi in on your Strymon Timeline. It looks like the Timeline receives Remote Tap from CC#93 so you just need to go into the HD setup and add that to your tap tempo button. This will allow you to use the Tap button on the HD to sync both units. Hope this helps you out.

I have a patch created that uses a PAN expression pedal to sweep between 2 amp chains, one clean and one dirty. Have not used it live but it works great and will probably surface in my set at some point.

It's definitely not "fully assignable". It is however, assignable if you play by L6 rules. I have my 500X linked to a H9 that I run in the FX loop just as ReWolf48 has described with his M13. I doubt that I would ever have more that 10 "working" presets on the H9. So, that being said, I run my 500X in "preset mode ( A B C D )". The buttons are mapped as ReWolf described. I wanted the proper patch to be selected on the H9 as soon as I stepped on the appropriate preset button. The only way you can assign a midi command to the FX Loop is to use up one of your available effect buttons, 5, 6, 7, 8 or Toe. If you save the HD patch with the FX Loop "on", it does not send the corresponding midi command, even though the switch is lit showing that it is active, when you activate that preset. My work around was to set up the H9 so that the user preset I wanted on the FX Loop was in the correct spot so that the midi commands you are forced to send from the 500X call the proper patch. In my case, many of the user presets on the H9 are now duplicates. If you are in pedal board mode, forget it. The only way you are going to get your midi assignment sent is if you step on the button you have assigned to your FX Loop. Even if you have saved the preset with the FX Loop "on". This was all very confusing at first and I have a lot of experience with midi. I went back and forth several times with L6 support not even knowing that this was the behavior of the unit. In most devices I have worked with midi, if you load a patch, and the light is on, the command is sent as soon as it is activated.

Over the weekend, my XD-V35 started making noise when I tap on the top of the receiver. I am using a short Monster XLR cable to attach it to the mixer. I noticed that if I hold the wire a certain way, the microphonic noises go away. I am going to troubleshoot this weekend with a different cord but wanted to address this here on the forum and see if anyone else had a similar experience. This unit is relatively new, less than a year.
