  1. My guess is no. Line 6's MIDI implementation is somewhat finicky and pretty much limited to computer and amp stuff like firmware upgrades and saving and swapping patches and then only when using a M Audio Uno cable. The Vetta is more of a straight forward modeling amp than any sort of MIDI machine. Maybe use the amp as just a plain Jane straight amp at the end and go with some more Roland gear in front for your effects and better midi compatibility. That is unless you can find a FBV floorboard for cheap somewhere and use the amps internal models and effects.
  2. I have no idea. As I think Line6 no longer supports either the Vetta or the Variax good luck finding an answer to your question.
  3. It's likely a power supply issue. I suggest you check into the Vetta II users group on Facebook for more info. https://www.facebook.com/groups/647483512018911/ Line 6 no longer supports the Vetta with Monkey but your firmware is likely OK anyway.
  4. Don't see why you couldn't go into the FX Loop Return jack with left and right inputs. It would probably be best to select the no model patch for a flat amp response.
  5. Yes I do but they have to be the same amp i.e. head or combo because the firmware is a little different between them. I think it's in the setup pages somewhere.
  6. Sounds like battery issues. Also make sure all the ribbon cable connections are good and solid. Check into the Vetta users group on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/groups/647483512018911/ There is a lot more Vetta activity there.
  7. I think it's actually photo optic i.e. an LED and a photocell kinda thing.
  8. The floorboard is a different bag of beans for each individual patch, whether pedals are on or not also changes with each patch. In one patch the volume pedal might be setup for volume while in another patch it can be setup to do something entirely different like leslie speed, delay times, etc.
  9. Glad to help and glad you got your Vetta back into action.
  10. I think you may have strayed into the wrong folder, There are no tubes in a Vetta. I don't think there are any in the Spider Valve either but the answer for any tube amp is NO you can't take out half the tubes and have it work.
  11. I guess the post didn't go though as expected. All I said was that all the settings are patch specific so if you have a setting but select another patch those settings won't be there so you have to do those settings again and save that patch for it to be effective. It's just a bit about the Vetta and floorboards that throws a lot of folks at first. Even the pedals are off by default and you have to save each patch with the pedal active for it to be active the next time you call up that patch.
  12. It probably can be fixed by a good technician. Line 6 parts are no more but it's likely a common electrical part that's causing the problem anyway. Could be a simple power supply issue, a loose connection somewhere or something like that. Is it a LED or and LCD display issue? There is a temperature controlled LCD contrast voltage circuit that could be at fault if it's a LCD display going bad. There are also a couple of LCD contrast adjustments in the setup menu. See your user manual (Pilot's Manual) of how to get to and adjust it.
  13. I do not recommend soldering to a battery and the heat is likely to shorten the life of the battery or kill it outright. However you can replace the silly soldered in coin cell with some nice AA or AAA lithium cells mounted in a separate two cell battery holder that would be easy to locate and secure in the amp. I suggest taping the batteries in the holder so they don't jostle loose. That should make future battery replacement easier down the road while the increased capacity of the larger cells will last longer too. Just solder the wires from the holder to the connection points on the circuit board.
  14. I'm glad you got it worked out. It's usually something simple that tends to throw you the most isn't it.
  15. Well they are out there if you want one. Only thing is to know a good tech to fix it if it ever breaks down. I see them for sale in the Vetta group on facebook from time to time. https://www.facebook.com/groups/647483512018911/ I'd get one that has latest firmware upgrades so you don't have to mess with all of that stuff. Other than the VDI the Vetta I and Vetta II is the same with the 2.5 firmware. Some also have the Armin mod others not. If you can find one with the FBV floorboard, that would be nice too.
  16. A good tech could probably repair your amp for you. I suggest you check out the Vetta user group on facebook. Lots of good info there and maybe a line on where you could get your amp fixed. https://www.facebook.com/groups/647483512018911/
  17. Pretty sure Vetta I and Vetta II used the same speakers. Except for the VDI interface, there were just small cosmetic and software differences and the software can be upgraded to make a Vetta I the same as a Vetta II as far as firmware and the factory patches go. Otherwise they are pretty much the same amp. Someone from Line6 would have to confirm but I don't think they read the Vetta board anymore.
  18. All Vetta combos that I've seen are all open back. Did you button it up yourself for did some previous owner? I've threatened to try it myself just for grins n grunts and maybe even put a variable/tune-able port in the back. You just never know until you try something. BTW I think the Celestion speakers used in the Vetta amps were custom made for Line6 to give a very flat response for the modeling to work more effectively and to handle all the power the amp puts out. If you look at all the Celestion guitar speakers in 12" size you'll find everything from 15 watt to 100 watt speakers in the same size and class. What ever it is isn't gonna do you much good if you toast it with the amp. Lots of tonal variety and response variance among all those choices too.
  19. I saw your post on Facebook and you'll likely have better success there as there are far more Vetta users there.
  20. Line6 stopped supporting the Vetta with Monkey a while back which is a web based program. I think Monkey is only for updating the firmware anyway not saving your patches. You'd have to go back and look for something like the MidOx program for the Windows platform for your Apple computer. You might also ask around in the Vetta discussion group on Facebook. It's users helping users so maybe there are some Mac folks there who can point you in the right direction.
  21. Double check the phantom power thing. Phantom power is only on balanced inputs so if you plugged the guitar into an unbalanced input, which is likely the case, there would be no DC voltage on the input. Or you could switch over to the unbalanced direct out of the Vetta and an unbalanced input on his mixer to be sure that isn't the problem. .
  22. Whether you use the balanced outs or the unbalanced, the direct outs use the same circuits so it would be the same maybe worse using the unbalanced outputs. My guess is that his mixer is at the heart of your problem anyway. Also make absolutely sure that he doesn't have the balanced inputs on his mixer set to supply phantom power. Many XLR inputs do but that can typically be switched off. This could cause your problem and even worse damage your amp as the direct outs on the Vetta are DC coupled. You could also try switching the (ground lift) switch to see if that has any effect.
  23. I suggest you go to this link on Facebook where users are helping users with this sort of thing. https://www.facebook.com/groups/647483512018911/ It's helping to plug the gap left by Line6 regarding Vetta amps. Nothing else, just the Vetta.
