M20D Should I keep my order or cancel?
groovedggr replied to hippiecow's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
The apple had problems when I was using other line6 wireless devices - and it wasn't easy to connect for 5g. The netgear n600 connected easily for me but I haven't used it in a severe setting yet using the v75 and relay 30 yet, so can't tell you directly but according to others - it was the one to get- belkin has one cheaper but I chose netgear due to the visual lights on the side which told me I was in 5G- I as able to walk into other rooms out of sight with doors shut and still had control.- 33 replies

Woooossshhh.......That was the QSC Touchmix
groovedggr replied to davec69's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
I only know that the M20d has been great for me, but the 1st two updates were badly needed and the 2nd one took too long but it did address my concern. I use the M20d and iPad very easy and don't need to know sound engineering to make it sound great. It's small and I love that all the speakers are sized right and the whole system is scaleable. I did an outdoor concert and everything fit in my mini-van and I did't need to hire additional helpers- just had to have an extra portable battery to recharge / power the iPad. There's nothing wrong to me that needs updating at this point and the price drop makes it easy to add the iPad. The L6 link cables can be purchased from HOSA at reduced cost. I bought a Netgear n600 for cheap and the 5g is supposed to limit interference issues. I did buy a 2nd demo model for 1/2 of original price and a 2nd iPad thinking I would use it as a sub-mixer for rhythm section on larger gig but ended up not needing it yet - so it's in the rehearsal room. -
M20D Should I keep my order or cancel?
groovedggr replied to hippiecow's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
Don't want to steal the thread so I have to say that I was probably one of the 1st ones to buy M20d and I recommend the M20d and especially since the price is better now and I don't need any more updates - (the 1st 2 updates were highly needed) Even if they offered something newer - mine works great - especially with iPad --- and I recommend to everyone including ColonelForbin to just use the iPad - it's amazing and easy and you can adjust from everywhere - including standing on stage. Most of the time in the places we play, I try to set the L3 main speakers off to the side of the band and angle them in so we can hear the mains too. The only reason I would use sound man - is for recording, but most days I just put a stereo mic on stage for recording- easier. I have used the small 25 ft Lil-bro snake ($49) to clear cable mess and for mics on drums but again we play small venues and stay close together. Although I ran outdoor concert and connected 6 L3's 2 L2's and 3 Ls and had to have a small portable battery with me when iPad was running low- portable battery was $20 and glad I did. The Lil Bro snake was all I needed- just make sure you have right length cables for putting keyboards in direct to #13-16. I have used the apple express and also recently bought the netgear n600 as recommended when using other line 6 wireless gear to avoid interference. The net gear was $70 and can use 5g which reportedly causes no interference in crowded rooms.- 33 replies

groovedggr replied to tochiro's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
The price of the M20d has dropped $1000 since it 1st came out and they still complain about the price of iPad. They don't know what they are missing, -

Ha ha - I forgot about the plastic cover - I have to go see where I stashed it It actually holds the iPad real nice I originally bought the line 6 link cables but later on added 110ohm cables from HOSA and they work great and are way cheaper but are not color so I added some green tape to the ends so I know they're link cables -

I recommend to buy the padded case too- you might have to get it from Line6 -
Since you already have m20d you should get the LT's as a backup - just In case the mixer freezes up or something Mine looked like it was stuck on boot up once but all ok after shutting off& on - scared me into 3T

L3t As A Bass Amp?
groovedggr replied to casparello's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
I really like the L3 and the shape and size are great. Except for small areas, my bass player always brings his own amp and 4x10 cab so I asked if he thought the L3t would have the goods and he said yea it has the power so should be good - I trust him - he toured the world 8 years with legend James Brown. I always used the lowdown studio 10 as preamp though...We!ve used the L3 with V-Drums too and the kick was way deep -

Setup my 2 new L3t speakers
groovedggr replied to randychesbro's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
yes M20d - It's small enough to fit anywhere so no reason to leave it at home. It has great features including auto-trim which works great when setting kick levels The L3sub links great and has 3 settings for x-over. It tilts back and rolls very easy and handle is strong- i can tilt it back and swing it up and load it in van without any help - easier than any other sub. You can get good bass with one - I added 2 more for outdoor concerts -I used iPad to mix. The pole mount is pretty good height when on the L3S- I'm able to get it on there without any help- you lift it on shoulder and then tilt it in with one hand in the hole and other on speaker handle. And for getting up higher than the sub I use some separate hydraulic stands the whole system links easily and the cables can also be purchased through different manufacturer at better price. I sold my QSC12 speakers after using line 6 speakers and never looked back. -

L3t As A Bass Amp?
groovedggr replied to casparello's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
I've used L3 as bass amp when in a small area. I also have a lowdown studio 10 amp and placed it on top with preamp out to L3m. The studio 10 can also send another speaker emulator out to M20d. Worked great and fit in tight spot which was the main advantage. -
Extending the L6 link range
groovedggr replied to nickinfrance's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
Using iPad at the back of the room is reliable but will require a good signal, so get apple express or belkin or netgear n600 and put it up high. Also make sure you get a portable battery- just in case iPad needs charging halfway through. i was mixing a monitor out to the house PA system and walked into the bathroom to mix the drums and bass to be heard through their house speakers --we played their bar area and customers could hear us everywhere in building including outside while standing in line. -
Main Out Volume Knob Issues On M20d
groovedggr replied to JeffersteinVS's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
I haven't had any issues on mine and I've owned it since Aug 2012, but I was in 2 different music stores today and both demo models had a problem with the volume knob. The 1st one in SamAsh had older firmware and it got stuck very low and went back and forth and I had to press the wheel down hard to make the volume go up and the 2nd at GC had the newer 1.2 update and wasn't as bad. The 2nd one was on sale for $1300 - still a great deal! I also have 3 older emu keyboard modules that also have had issues with their data knobs and emu did sell replacements for theirs. -maybe Line 6 should go down to SamAsh in hollywood and check it out. -
If you buy the L3's they are heavy, so I recommend ultimate support -air powered TS-100B stands -those stands lift the L3 speaker with one hand.
