  1. Using a completely empty preset with input/send/return/output levels properly set to INSTRUMENT or LINE as required that should not be the case. Read the respective manuals to find out what those settings need to be. DO NOT ASSUME!
  2. OK, that doesn't tell me anything. Make a screenshot of your Ableton configuration with the same components as the screenshot I made, most importantly the MIDI assignments and Preferences.
  3. You attached a .php file, so I don't know what you're asking. If that was a screenshot, make sure it's in a PC format.
  4. I had a VERY quick look at the BOSS manual. You'll have to read it yourself to verify the details mentioned below. You didn't specify where you are in the process, so I'll make some assumptions. 1 - The device is assigned to the same MIDI Channel as your Helix. BASE = Channel 1 by default. On most MIDI devices Ch 1 is the default. On Helix this can be changed in Global Settings>MIDI/Tap, or the MIDI Channel for that specific function can be set when you set up the FS (below). 2 - You know how to assign a CC# to that parameter in the BOSS Configuration/Editor. AFAICT, it needs to be between 1-31 or 64-95 3 - You know which MIDI VALUE turns the parameter OFF/ON. Usually, that's either 0(OFF)/127(ON) or 0(OFF/1(ON). Assigning a FS on Helix: In Command Center, select the FS you want to use. From the dropdown list Select CC Toggle DIM is the Value sent when the Preset Loads. Do you want the Harmony ON or OFF? Assign the appropriate VALUE as mentioned above. LIT is the VALUE used to do the opposite of DIM. If you're using Snapshots you'll need to set the FS as above in EACH SNAPSHOT. Don't forget to SAVE the Snapshots!
  5. If you've run out of Stomp switches and your Snapshots are sacrosanct (based on your other thread), you WILL eventually have to get a proper MIDI controller. You seem to be trying to run a three-legged sack race solo. MIDI is your friend and third leg.
  6. This might be helpful: Using Helix floor as a VL midi controller - VST Live - Steinberg Forums
  7. Which FS are you using? There's a couple of problems I can see. First, when I posted the MIDI messages, I assumed that you'd use an external MIDI controller. Using the loop-back method, the preset needs to be SAVED with the Tuner FS OFF because when you load the preset, the SAVED state is what will load. Also, it may just be that the display method used by the XL for STOMP mode, unlike the HXS/Floor, isn't compatible with the loop-back method. If you have an external MIDI controller to try, that could be the only way to tell if there's a bug with displaying the Tuner using MIDI.
  8. I don't have an XL, but it works fine on both my Helix Floor and HXS. Is the switch you're using assigned to do anything other than send the MIDI CC?
  9. BRILLIANT! All I had to do was disable Snapshot Bypass on the WAH Block to make that work! This has to be the best Helix hack I've seen! EDIT: I plugged it into an unused Send.
  10. Hum sometimes, particularly with hi-gain, but I plugged in my strat just to be sure, no hiss or hum on this kind of clean preset. Maybe if you could record the noise someone might recognize it?
  11. You need to look at other possible causes - I'm getting no hiss or other noise whatsoever, even with both noise gates off. If your guitar, cables and mains are ok, then maybe open a support ticket.
  12. What they said. I would only add that if your current AI gets down to 32 samples and has a 1M instrument input then you really don't even need to upgrade that, as the 2-3ms difference in latency will not really be worth the money. Spend it on that guitar you've been drooling over ;-)
  13. What's to understand, and why should it matter to ANYONE that you don't? Did you miss the part where he said he bought his Helix 6 weeks ago? He's a noob, boldly jumping into a relatively complex configuration. You've had how many years with your Helix to learn this stuff? He didn't know how to get the result he wanted in the context of the way he wants to use his Helix. Once I understood what he was after I provided a demonstration of how to do that. What did you contribute, other than negativity?
  14. I re-read your OP. I was misunderstanding your issue. Dist 1 Output Level needs to be set at a level that works when Dist 1 is used by itself. When Dist 2 is kicked in, the Output Level of Dist 1 needs to be higher than when used by itself. Right? Instead of using Snapshots as I previously suggested, assign the Output Level parameter of Dist 1 to the same FS as you use to bypass/activate Dist 2. EXAMPLE: Dist 1 (Minotaur) is assigned to FS1. Dist 2 (Deez One Vintage) is assigned to FS2. Assign the Output Level parameter of Dist 1 (Minotaur) to FS2. In the BYPASS/CONTROLLER ASSIGN pane (HX Edit), locate the Minotaur Output Level assignment. Set MIN to the level you want for the Minotaur when used by itself (DZ1 bypassed). Set the MAX to the level you want when stacked with the DZ1 (Minotaur and DZ1 both activated). When I created the attached demo I felt that the stacked sound was too fizzy, so I also assigned the Minotaur Tone parameter to FS2. Attached is a demo preset. Select the Minotaur Block and note the changes to the Tone and Output Levels as you activate/bypass both effects. Note that even with the Minotaur bypassed, when you activate the DZ1 the parameters will change values. Doesn't matter because it's bypassed. As soon as you bypass the DZ1 the parameters will return to the default (saved) values. ajwain.hlx
  15. That's what I'm saying. If the output level, or any other parameter of any other effect (up to 64 parameters per Snapshot), needs to be different in a particular snapshot, just assign the parameter to SNAPSHOTS, load the Snapshot and set the parameter to the value desired. Then save the Snapshot and every time you load that Snapshot the parameter will be whatever you set it to, and the other snapshots will have the parameters set to whatever they were when those snapshots were saved. The Snapshot will still do whatever you're currently using it for (turning effects ON/OFF), that doesn't change. IOW - Snapshots don't JUST turn FX ON/OFF, they can ALSO control the individual parameters of every effect in the signal chain. I do what you're describing all the time, for exactly the reasons you're describing.
  16. Any parameter can be assigned to a snapshot. If you need Effect1's Output Level set to 5 on Snapshot 1, 10 on Snapshot 2 and something else on Snapshot 3, just assign the Output Level Parameter of Effect1 to SNAPSHOTS and save each Snapshot with the Output Level set as desired. IIRC, this can be done with up to 64 parameters per Snapshot.
  17. Is Helix (or the FS MIDI) set to send on Channel 16? Also, CC#s 1 & 2 are "Reserved" for Modulation Wheel and Breath Controller functions. This might not matter, but since Ableton is a very MIDI and Synth focused DAW, those CCs might not be available for UI control functions. There's LOTS of reserved CCs, and you should pick numbers that are NOT reserved. Here's a list: MIDI CC List (Quick Guide) – Professional Composers Speaking of CONTROL functions, here's a screenshot of the configurations I used in the project I created to work your problem. I'm not sure that everything in the preferences screen is necessary, as I said, I rarely use Ableton, but it works, so... EDIT: MIO is the MIDI Interface to my FCB1010/UNO2, another MIDI controller I sometimes use. Disregard for your purposes.
  18. Some people have all the luck! Some of us go for years (7 in my case) without major problems. Did you buy it new? Is it under warranty? I'm guessing not, since you seem to want to mess with swapping electronic components. Well, since you'll be taking it apart anyway to do that, you might as well try cleaning the switch and check for broken wires, cold solder joints - you know, the usual electronics stuff. Break a leg - since "Good Luck" seems inappropriate in your case... :-(
  19. Well. to be fair it DOES copy the FUNCTIONALITY, the switches DO what they're configured to DO, they just don't LOOK the way they were designed to LOOK. Yes, I totally agree, COPY ALL should mean COPY ALL, because words have meanings, but that includes the word FUNCTIONALITY. Speaking of which, since the FUNCTIONALITY of a Command Center configuration can depend on how the Snapshots interact, there SHOULD be a way to choose whether or not COPY ALL means just THIS Snapshot or ALL Snapshots. Kind of a PITA to have to perform 8 COPY ALL and SAVE functions when COPY ALL should mean COPY ALL!
  20. 4cm (4 cable method) requires 4 - 1/4" cables and both ends of each need to be plugged into something. It works like this - Guitar>LT Guitar Input>LT FX Send 1>Guitar Amp INPUT>Guitar Amp FX SEND>LT FX Return 1>LT L/Mono Output>Guitar Amp Return. If your amp has an FX Loop Bypass switch, make sure it's set properly.
  21. Everybody's needs are different. A 10,000 page manual attempting to address every possible scenario would be impossible, and no one would read it - they don't read the existing short manual, never mind the manuals for the sw/hw they're trying to control! It would also be useless unless the reader knew the basics of MIDI, which is not L6's responsibility to teach beyond how it is implemented on Helix. Admittedly, the Helix manual could be a LITTLE more detailed in that regard, but remember, Helix is first and foremost a guitar amp and FX modeler. MIDI is an added attraction. And after all (literally) they DO provide this forum, where users can get FREE help from L6's un-paid front-line support team - your fellow users ;-P !
  22. IDK what you did wrong. What do you mean by "convert", and what exactly does "it does not work at all" mean? You need to be more specific. What EXACTLY are you doing? After proving the problem using NOTEs, I just changed the message being sent by Helix from NOTE to simple (non-toggling) CC, then went back into the Ableton project and repeated the MIDI assignment process using the CCs sent from Helix. EZ PZ! Recall I said to use non-toggling CCs with a Value of zero. IOW, CC#111 Value 0; CC#112 Value 0 etc. The CC# is NOT the VALUE!
  23. Zombie thread, resolved over 3 years ago.
  24. I just rebuilt my "All Amps" setlist (80 presets) to incorporate different routing and Command Center MIDI. All presets have a WAH and VOLUME pedal. Global is Per Preset. Starting with the first preset, I made the changes, saved, then made the amp/cab changes for the next preset. Using The DOWN arrow in the NAME field I changed the name, selected the next location and clicked OK. 80 presets, no problems. Try this method vs copy/paste.
