  1. If you co When you have your Helix connected to a MIDI Monitor and and click a snapshot twice, what is being sent? If NOTHING is being sent I don't see how Helix can be the problem. It's possible that there's a sysex being sent, so be sure to use a MIDI Monitor that sees EVERYTHING such as MIDIOX.
  2. As I'm sure you are well aware, this topic has been beaten to death over on TGP and TGF and probably elsewhere, as the major complainer is compulsive about letting everyone know about it. The 2203 modeled did not have a bright cap. MAYBE the next update they'll be modeling one WITH a bright cap. Meanwhile, all the other Marshalls are normal and if you can't get a good Marshall tone, and none of the other Marshall sound-alikes light your fire, then maybe Helix isn't for you. Sorry if that sounds harsh (not really) but I am SO sick of hearing this nonsense! Buy a Fractal! It's not like you'll have a problem selling your Helix to one of the thousands who DGAF about the frelling bright cap!
  3. All you need is to insert a WAH Block, it's automatically assigned to Exp 1. Then/or insert a Volume Block, which will automatically be assigned as Exp 2. IOW, you don't need to bother with manual assignments, it's done automatically when the block is added to the signal chain.
  4. There might be a better way to do this depending upon what FX you're using in the LT, and I don't really see the need for the Flashback, but the wiring looks ok assuming that the Global settings for the Inputs/Sends are correct re the Markbass. So, what's the problem?
  5. FRFR is the LF Driver EQ'd FLAT and the HF Driver ON. It's OFF on LF FLAT and LF RAW which is why those settings are less bright. You apparently like your high frequencies, which seems to be common amongst Voxy people and people with hearing loss from standing in front of Marshall stacks :-) When I use FRFR I have the HF Driver set to -6db as it adds "fizz" on the amps I use it with.
  6. Frank Zappa was a wise man!
  7. You're asking for objective answers to subjective questions. The BEST answers you'll ever get on a forum will be no better than anecdotal. I might think my PC212+ sounds GREAT, but lots of people think it sounds like s**t. The ONLY way to KNOW what's BEST is to try them all side by side and decide which YOU like best. Not practical you say? Of course not! Welcome to Guitar World 2023! This AM I played for over an hour through my Catalyst100. Sounded GREAT! Switched to ToneX through the Cat. Sounded AWFUL! Took a break to let my ears readjust, then played for over an hour through my PC212+ and ToneX Amalgam DI captures with various PC speakers. Sounded GREAT! Then I switched to playing through Helix presets, alternately with Helix cabs and PC speakers. Sounded GREAT! My takeaway - any day I play for 2-3 hours is a GREAT day! The moral of the story - Dance with the girl you brought to the party. MOST IMPORTANTLY - "Shut up and play yer guitar!" Final word - there's no such thing as "The Ultimate Helix Experience". Only what YOU like best! Final Final word - I like jelly donuts, but not if they're covered in liquid sugar. "Hope this helps". ;-)
  8. The attached example preset shows how. Use a TRS>Dual Mono (INSERT CABLE) in the SEND jack. FX Loop L (TIP) is before the split. L MONO OUT goes to FOH with the cab. Send R (RING) Outputs the same signal minus cab to your stage amp. The "DRY THRU" parameter of the SEND R block set to -120db prevents the Path B signal from going to FOH. Aged_cheddar.hlx
  9. Depends upon WHICH Scarlett you have and WHY you have both devices connected by USB. It also depends upon the type of computer you have. A MAC can use multiple ASIO devices concurrently as an "Aggregate" device, one set as INPUT and the other as OUTPUT. A Windows rig can only use ONE ASIO driver at a time, and that serves both input and output. You can get stereo to your DAW via USB from the Scarlett or from the HXS, but not both at once, and whichever device is set as the ASIO driver, that's the one that the speakers need to be connected to. If the Scarlett has multiple inputs (2i2/2i4) then you can connect both Outputs from the HXS and route the HXS audio directly to the Scarlett's outputs using the Monitor knob. USB audio from the Scarlett will still be routed to the DAW, but to hear playback you'll need to have the Monitor knob centered and make sure that the Track Input Switch on the DAW track is set to OFF or AUTO. If the Scarlett has SW routing (Focusrite Control - 4i4 and above) then you just assign both the Line Inputs the HXS is connected to and the Playback 1/2 from the DAW to the Scarlett outputs the speakers are connected to. This is the way I use my 18i20. EDIT - somebody is bound to jump in and suggest ASIO4ALL with Windows. It's a PITA, has excessive latency, and is a PITA. Don't waste your time.
  10. What @datacommandosaid. I would add that, while HPs that are designed to be FLAT may provide a more "accurate" reproduction of a modeler's sound, that is not necessarily the most PLEASING way to hear it. They're best for RECORDING for a host of reasons, and you probably don't want HPs designed for hearing rap music (excessively enhanced bass), but a set of general purpose semi-open backed HPs like the very affordable AKG K240 might be preferable for your stated purpose.
  11. The whole "Modelers don't push air" thing is pure nonsense. If you HEAR a sound it's because a real speaker - guitar or FRFR - is pushing air. Also, it's not the MODELER that's pushing the air, it's the the SPEAKER. Your Vox sounds more authentic to you because you prefer the sound of a tube amp through a guitar speaker and cabinet. @Optimisthas the right idea. The article by Eric Klein is an excellent explanation. Read it.
  12. Sounds like static. Crappy pups, bad wiring/pots/switch/solder job would be my guess.
  13. No. Remove the Gain Block and adjust your Master and Channel Volumes. Leave the Output Block at 0db. The Placater (BE100) is basically a Marshall variation. If you need more gain than it naturally provides, use an amp designed for that purpose instead of adding a Gain block.

    HX One ...

I had to look up the H9. $300 vs $600 so definitely a lower cost alternative.

    HX One ...

IIRC when I looked into small MIDI controllers I preferred the Ampero Control for the DIN plugs (I don't trust BT) and easier configuration SW. I think it had more options too, but it's been a while since I compared them. I might end up with an HXFX for the Cat rig, just for my MIDI needs. And the million effects ;-) ! Screw it, I'll just put my Helix Floor in its fancy backpack and forget all the doo-dads. Did anyone ever figure out what the cartridge loops are for? The point here is really just that a lot of people bought, and still use, the M5, and the HX ONE is the replacement for that. One slightly oversized stomp box that can be most any effect L6 offers, with support going forward. I'm betting it sells like hotcakes.

    HX One ...

MS-50g/MS-70CDR - no MIDI. Need MIDI. Didn't notice if they had a tuner. Need tuner. HX ONE - has MIDI and tuner. Also - in 4cm, loop can be positioned pre or post effect. Also - has one switch looper.

    HX One ...

Replacement for the M5. I might get one to use with my Catalyst.
  18. I don't use the looper because overall it's a PITA. The new Fender TMP has the looper always available, no need to add it to every preset. If L6 would make that happen I might start using it.
  19. There's no such thing as "auto-save" the way that term is used when working on a spreadsheet or WP document. When "Snapshot Edits" is set to DISCARD, changes made to a snapshot are discarded when you either change snapshots or change presets. If you want to retain the edits you need to SAVE the preset BEFORE changing snapshots or presets. If "Snapshot Edits" is set to RECALL, then changes are retained through snapshot changes but are only permanently saved if you SAVE the preset. I find that RECALL is mainly helpful if you're making multiple changes to multiple snapshots, since you only have to SAVE the preset once when you're done. Otherwise, I leave it on DISCARD to prevent unintentionally saving changes I've forgotten that I made.
  20. When random s**t happens, perform a factory reset. Don't forget to back up first!
  21. It's the difference between having 6 knobs or three. On the HXS, Page 2 is the second set of three knobs on the Floor/LT.
