  1. It's free i think if you are Amazon Prime member. Well worth watching, i f a little light on the music itself...
  2. One more question from a Variax noob..I recently got a Standard, and really am not yet real comfortable with the Workbench software, sorta waiting for the Helix integration..but if I wanted to find that Brian may model, could you point me in the right direction? CHeers to you as well
  3. Yes it is , and it is very possible that Mr. Vai's outfit may have been specifically chosen by his employer, he often made his band members dress to his whim., I remember being astonished by Adrian Belew on stage in a muu-muu (look it up)
  4. If you feel you are not getting all the current presets, Thibault is easily accessible by email (check his blog)
  5. http://axefremen.blogspot.com/2016/08/fremen-helix-big-pack-175-presets.html No Variax-specific, afaik Well worth it both for helix and fractal users (guess he does Amplifire as well, but I've no experience with them)
  6. Im looking forward to the Zappa tribute album that Gaga will inevitably release from her new basement studio..........
  7. Well I like it enough to ask if u would post the preset,
  8. Yup, IMO Celestion did a pretty nice job with these and especially the open backs have some nice mojo, tho I don't yet know how they will sit in a mix, but for solo noodling, very clear and present with smooth high end. Amsdenj, great tip on using Space Designer to audition IRs , I just discovered that recently myself.
  9. I bet Les would've liked that too. He wears his Zappa influence proudly .....Very nice job with the Summers thing, but don't expect to impress the OP, unless he has had a change in attitude.
  10. Yes , sounds very good ...cant wait to see what disparaging or ungrateful response The OP will give, if he hasn't yet given up after all the FZ adulation.
  11. Yes, I try to avoid discussing this in public and forums because it is all so sad and seemingly unnecessary, and hope that we can see a reasonable resolution in the near future. The vaults contents are in the very good hands of Joe Travers, Zappa Vaultmeister for decades, and Dweezil's drummer for some time. Joe is supervising the restoration of the rapidly decaying media.
  12. At the Music Box? I went to the premiere there.
  13. Yes! It is great, also coming sometime this century is the project started by Alex Winter (controversial documentary director, and either Bill or Ted (the one that isn't Keanu) in collarboration with the Zappa Family Trust using archived tapes from the Vault, currently being restored..we shall see how that develops...HTTP://WWW.ZAPPAMOVIE.COM

    USB - C

Yes it works fine using the multi-dongle that has USB, HDMI and USB-C, Hubs are coming very slowly, but with the new Pro you have 4 Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C compatible) ports.
  15. Great album. I also like the expression on franks face on the album cover.
  16. Caught him earlier this month in Ft Lauderdale....the latest incarnation of his band may be the best yet (lead singer Ben is gone, replaced by multiinstrumentalist/vocalist Dave and amazingly talented and hot singer/guitarist Cian) . Dweezil has been beset recently by really nasty family trust issues, which became public some months ago, and various horrible lawsuits are pending, so he can use all the support he can, go see and enjoy him, and if you want to learn a bit more about his situation and how you can help, go herehttp://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/othersofintention HTTP://WWW.DWEEZILZAPPA.COM
  17. WOW....never saw that Fillmore West Flo and Eddie video before..........pure gold!
  18. Excellent! What a great thread this has evolved into...talk about making lemonade out of lemons......
  19. Your thoughts are spot on. As one of my goals in life is to turn the uninitiated on to this ridiculously underappreciated artist, I seem to come up with different answers constantyl to this same question, Where do I start? Nowadays, with the music streaming paradigm having taken over, the opportunities to check out artists entire catalog is easier than ever.
  20. Hey, thats great, ike is a sweetheart! you all sound pretty darn good, your vocals emulate the originals nicely . Congrats on the balls to embark on this project. I hope to travel to Europe for for Zappanale maybe this year. Another one of my enviable Zappa moments happened in September 2015 when I got to sing background vocals with Zappa plays Zappa for one song (Cozmik Debris)....
  21. A difficult thing to answer, as FZ released 60(!) albums, many of them multi-LP/CD sets, during his life, and another 20-some have been posthumously released, and key tô understanding the depth of his genius is Conceptual Continuity, where he consciously created and returned to musical themes and motifs in which he considered the whole of his work to be basically one life-long composition (the BIG NOTE theory, first espoused in his third album Lumpy Gravy). I consider his work important enough to warrant checking out chronologically from his first major album Freak OUT! , but I am a little extreme in my fandom, so I will try to narrow it down to the five that's will tell you if you need to be all in:-none of them are the most well-known (except for Hot Rats)We're Only In It For The Money-a truly psychedelic skewering of Mid 60s counterculture and fascism by The Mothers of Invention Hot Rats-oops , Frank just sorta invented jazz fusion.... Live at Fillmore East -the Mother's first live one, With Flo and Eddie on outrageous vocals, the definitive statement on groupie culture. One Size Fits All- One of FZs tightest albums composition-wise, one of his most beloved by hard-cores. Geez, already at five..? Alright, choose one with his last touring band (either Make a Jazz Noise Here, Broadway the Hard way, or The Best Band you Never Heard. You're welcome.
  22. One of the greatest moments in Police history was when Mr. Sting sat in with Frank's final tour band in 88 at the Auditorium in Chicago, and sang Murder By Numbers and made fun of Jimmy Swaggart.
  23. Nothing better could happen to this thread than becoming a Zappa appreciation area....hopefully the guitarist(what he called himself in the Fractal thread i suffered thru in real time) has moved on to Hobbiton. FZ has been my muse since 1966 as a disaffected pre teen who needed something more than the AM hits o the Day. Got to meet and interview him in 1978 in Carbondale Il, and am proud to call Dweezil a friend.
