SHAKEY64 said > "Yep, agree entirely! Just need to get Line6 to take these ideas on board..." I think they will... especially now with the FX100 now coming (basically an AMPLIFI without the amplifier) ... Line 6 will probably sell a bunch of those pedals so they'll be more users screaming for many, if not all, of the same ToneMatch features AMPLIFI users are wanting. Fortunately, we're on the front end of these new products cycle. If these were PODs we were looking for features to be added to I'd be much less optimistic.

I don't understand why there's not an option to list and go through only Line 6's database of tones. Hopefully this is something that's in the works.

I like the amp. However, Line6 really needs to finish development--and refine--the amp's firmware, iOS app, and tone server. These components of "the system" simply are not where they need to be. At the top of the list needs to be the USB interface which should work the Fender Mustang amps' USB works. When I first bought the amp I was very hopeful that Line6 would provide USB functionality but, as time passes I'm less and less optimistic. I thought by now we would have updates -- but this has not been the case. Maybe someone from Line6 can chime in here?

I like my 75 a lot--the perfect amp for my purposes. I just wish I could record into my Mac via the USB port ... I don't understand why Line6 is taking so long to activate such an important feature/function.

Gipser, Don't send it back (not yet anyways) ... Put the Vintage 30 speaker in and let us know how it sounds! It won't take but a few minutes to do ... No? Also, post some pictures for us of the inside of the amp. Go for it... You'll be the first to do it. What's to lose.

I do mobile software development, however, I will only develop for iOS. Why? Because it is a royal pain in the neck to develop for Android--just waaaay too many hardware devices that you have to test on and too many different app stores you have to upload to. Developing for Android is just not worth it -- minimal ROI.

Anyone got a good AMPLIFI tone for Gilmour's "Marooned"? I'm using a Strat with 57/62s SC's. Thanks.
-
Joe, Can you comment on the plans for AMPLIFI's USB connection?
-
Why would they not provide one?

When I connected my AMPLIFI's USB to my Mac I got an audio option called, "ToneMatchAudio" but it wouldn't work (no sound) ... I'm hoping Line 6 puts out a firmware update that later gives the amp's USB port some audio recording / playback functionality. Hopefully, it's in the works.

I'm using mine mostly at home and for my purposes it's almost the perfect amp. For it to be perfect (for me) Line 6 needs to get that USB connection working so I can use it with recording software running on my Mac.

That would be me ... Thanks much Phil! It is greatly appreciated.
-
...it seems like every song on my playlist for practicing comes up "Twin Vibrato Clean." Thanks... didn't have this one! Now, if we can just get Phil to share that awesome "swirly twin" tone he created that everyone wants! ;-)

So, I decided I would take a look inside my 75 by removing the back panel--simple enough since it's just 6-screws... Right? Nope! The screw located next to the power connector appears to be thread-locked (those rascals!). Five of the screws did come loose but even those were on really tight ... I just can't get that 6th one loose, and I don't want to strip the head trying. An impact screwdriver would be the only hope but I don't own one so no pics from me ... for now at least.

Their marketing people said, "There's a library of 6000 tones [for AMPLIFI] ... It would be great to be able to generate a list of the 4-5 star tones to be able to sort through.

You guys are tempting me--making me want to crack mine open. I'm curious to get a peek at the 75's main speaker. Anybody done it yet?

"By doing this, you can actually find a tone-match for 'Southbound Again' -- I just did and I don't have the song on my iPhone." Yes... I created and published that tone but then when I tried to search for it the search function couldn't find it. Maybe there's a lag time before it becomes a searchable tone? Searching for--and finding--tones on the server really has been a hit or miss proposition for me -- hopefully in time it'll get better. Fortunately, I have a good 10 or so tones that I really like so...
-
Just to be clear, I can only locate and downloads tones for songs that are in my iTunes library on my iOS device... Is this correct? So for example, if I don't have the song, "Southbound Again" by Knopfler in my iTunes library then I can't get a ToneMatch result and-or download the tone "Southbound Again" even if the tone does in fact exist in the ToneMatch server's database. This is how I understand it to be... Is this correct?

Here's what I learned a few weeks ago from a previous thread on this forum when I too was wrestling with the 75 versus 150 decision... I had bought the 75 but then was thinking that maybe I should have spent the extra $100 for the 150. After reading the posts on the other thread I learned (and believe it to be true) that lower volumes the 75 sounds better than the 150 but at higher volumes the 150 sounds better than 75. So, since I play mostly at lower volumes I settled on the 75 and haven't looked back--I'm very pleased with the smaller amp. * To provide a little more perspective, I'm using my 75 with a Stratocaster w/3 single coil pickups--IMO they complement each other quite nicely. I can't say how guitars with humbuckers or P90's would sound with the 75 but single coils especially with AMPLIFI's clean, shimmery, bluesy, and crunchy tones sound really nice to my ears.

Am I correct in assuming that it's been all 150's that are exhibiting the vibration problem? I own a 75 and it's solid. In the past, I've had amps that have rattled and vibrated, and I've always just gone inside to find / fix the issue e.g. extra glue, screws, blocking, cable ties, etc. I recently did this with my Bugera V5. I think it's just the nature of the beast -- like car dashboards -- guitar amps like to rattle and vibrate but usually easy to fix once you isolate the problem. Don't be afraid to get in there to find out what/where the problem is then fix it ... you've got nothing to lose ... especially if you like the amp. I'm sure Line 6 would back you up on it especially if you report back to them what the problem was.

A Video Of Me Jamming With My Jtv-69 And My New Amplifi 75!
mjc02865 replied to ChristianArnold's topic in AMPLIFi
I keep mine right in my living room too... I'm playing a hundred times more because I don't have setup a bunch of gear e.g amp, pedals, etc. just to start playing. Now I simply pick up the guitar, flip the power switch and start playing. It sounds dang good too all without any hassle. Now if I could just fnd a good quality, inexpensive wireless guitar system so I could be completely wireless... unfortunately, the inexpensive ones ruin the tone and the good ones are too expensive.- 10 replies

Mine works fine too. Which iPad do you have? I'm using the latest iPad Mini which has noticeably better bluetooth than older iPad models I've owned.

I think how you described it is probably the best--and also probably the only--way to accomplish what you're looking to do. Getting your tone volumes balanced with songs and also with each other, tone to tone, is a bit of a challenge.
