No. And there isn't going to be. If you're still within the return period, ditch it now, get one that works, and save yourself the endless aggravation. Official explanations range from the very unlikely to the ridiculous. The simple truth is that some of them work out of the box, and some don't. If yours doesn't, it's probably not going to.

You can set up a signal chain with just FX. Just move the cursor to the amp model, and turn the first control knob until it reads "NO AMP". But as others have already said, that's really not what this unit is designed to for. You can spend less money on a simple multi-fx unit. As far as getting "no sound", it's gonna be hard for anyone to pinpoint the problem without more info. Are you running straight into the front of the amp, the FX return, 4 cable method?

AKG240S...right around a hundred bucks, most places. But really anything that's specifically sold as "studio monitor" headphones should work fine. I'd avoid any closed-back designs, as they tend to be a little bottom-heavy. Plus, when the wife starts throwing stuff at you because you can't hear while you're playing, the open-backed ones will allow you to respond without pulling them off your head first...;)
-
Well price doesn't guarantee a flat frequency response, which is what you want for this particular application. So the issues you're having may or may not have anything to do with the cans you're using...the only way to tell is to try some others. All I meant was you don't have to break the bank to get decent headphones.
-
Generally speaking, you get what you pay for...cheapo $8 headphones or ear buds are not gonna have anything approaching a flat response. No good for tone-shaping. But there are a number of good options in the $100-$125 range that should work quite nicely.
-
You can't approach tone matching as if it were a cocktail recipe. Trying to do it by duplicating what some guy in a video claims to have done with any one piece of gear, is a crap shoot at best. Too many variables at play. Trial and error is unavoidable.

Anyone done the treble bleed mod on JTV-69

No $#!*....;) -
Let the cage match begin!!! ;)

I say it's a pipe dream. If they were gonna do it, it would have happened by now. They've got their iOS platform devices in the Amplifi and Firehawk.

The global EQ is quite useful, especially for dialing out the low end boominess and high frequency fizz that this unit is prone to. Low-cut and high-cut filters are really all I use. Also good for slight tweaks for different rooms, so you don't have to edit all your patches individually.

Ideascale would be the place to put this request. This is a user forum...the overwhelming majority of posts/requests left here aren't even seen by anyone "official", let alone acknowledged or acted upon.

Jtv 89-f Model Sound Issue

Unfortunately the answer is usually "get one that works". -
Line 6 gets competition from Vox

Yeah, I'll pass. For that much of an eyesore, it would have to sound like a choir of angels before I'd dump $850 on it. ;) -

I've seen my share of ugly guitars, but that thing shouldn't be seen by the light of day... -
Using only piezo without modelling?
cruisinon2 replied to Dshow's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Only if you get permission from The Man... -
First you'll have to find a retailer that's willing to open up the box before they sell it to you, then sit it aside while you beg L6 for some insight into what parts may or may not be in the thing. Easier said than done...

Ahh yes, the killer bees. I'm reminded of those crappy, late 70's/early 80's PBS documentaries with the ominous voice-overs that terrified me when I was 8...because they were coming. Any day now, they were gonna overrun North America, and then we'd all be doomed. Well I'm 42, and still waiting for my first killer bee sighting...but I digress. As for the software, I really couldn't care less, because I couldn't "hack" into a paper bag, never mind computer code. I'm also not the least bit interested in acquiring software that someone else had mutilated, so it's never going to affect me one way or the other. As it is, with the firmware you guys designed, updating the JTV is an act of faith. I cross my fingers and say a Hail Mary, hoping it doesn't brick itself. Why on earth would I try to load it with somebody else's mangled version of software? I'm quite content to use the gear as it was designed, warts and all. I was simply musing over the degree to which we allow our benevolent overlords to dictate what we can and can't do with our own stuff. As always, opinions vary... -
Ceiling fans are often the culprit. Dimmer switches can be a disaster too...I've got both in my "music cave", lol. Makes using single coil pickups interesting sometimes.
-
Don't know, but it really doesn't matter anyway. It was a known issue, much discussed here on the forums. I waited almost a year after L6 announced the official remedy had been designed and tested before I bought mine, figuring that would be enough time to get one from a later production run...still got a bad one. There's no way to know how long the one you get sat in a warehouse, or some retail stock room. Units old enough to have the original fan design may or may not still be in the wild...

Well we all get the government we deserve...voter turnout is generally abysmal, so this sort of thing shouldn't surprise anyone. Remember all the hoopla over jailbreaking iDevices? First it's illegal, then it's not, then it's illegal again for some devices, but not others...and all subject to the whims of the head honcho at the Library of Congress, who gets to change his/her mind every 3 years. You don't really own the stuff you buy, folks...everybody enjoy! We did it to ourselves. -
The Stagesource speakers are great. I use the L2T with the 500X...works well for me. I use it as a floor monitor for my stage volume, and run the POD straight to the PA. The only caveat is that some of the earlier production runs had issues with the cooling fan, which would rattle like a jackhammer at certain frequencies with enough volume. It's since been redesigned, but if you happen to get one that's been sitting in a warehouse for a while, you might still run into the problem. L6 was very good about fixing mine, though it had to be done twice. Been problem free for about a year now.
-
Just be prepared to spend a lot of time with it...but once you get it set the way you like it, it's a great unit.
-
First generation anything is a crap shoot. The early JTVs had issues too...even some of the later production runs are not immune. Keep sending them back til you get one that works.
-
I can't offer definitive proof, but I believe the answer is no. It was discussed a while back, but I couldn't find the thread. Neck pocket has different dimensions.

Changing string gauge on any guitar requires some adjustments, especially for a floating bridge. A lighter gauge means less string tension on the tremolo springs. In turn, the springs will pull the bridge closer to the body of the guitar, limiting how much you can pull up on the bar, and likely throwing your intonation off to some degree. Also, the reduced tension on the neck usually results in the neck straightening out slightly, which will lower the action a bit. This may result in some string buzz, depending on how high the action was to begin with. A truss rod adjustment is (usually) needed. Setting up a guitar properly is not difficult, but requires some practice, like everything else. It generally doesn't take much to throw things off to the point where the guitar won't play very well. Check on YouTube, there are numerous how-to guides for doing a basic set-up.
