Have you played it through a regular clean amp, rather that through the Helix loop? I would not expect to hear any unwanted 'clickyness'. Personally, I play a strat with single coils. I have also tried the C9 with humbuckers and also with compression in front. No issues, it sounds great. I have powered the C9 with both the EHX 200ma power supply and with my Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 (100ma). Again, all is fine. I would experement with a few guitars, amp set-ups etc and see if you can eliminate the problem. Hope it works out.

My Key 9, C9 and Hog all work fine through the Helix send/returns.

I'm currently morphing from one live set up to another centered around Helix. I will be building a new pedal board over the next month and will be incorporating my C9, Key 9 and possibly my Hog and it's foot controller. The Helix is awesome, but I would miss the polyphonic EHX devices. -
Tonight is my first gig using my Helix paired with a new L2t as my on-stage monitor. Over the years I've always had a little tweek of my amp controls to suit the room's acoustics when sound checking for the gig. Is that something you would normally address with the global EQ, or can I usually expect to plug in and go? Obviously I would expect the FOH sound guy to fine tune my guitar sound to suit the room.

Glad to see more info about the Line 6 Stagesource gear. I too am considering a L2t for live monitoring of the Helix. The more I read, the more complicated all this FRFR stuff seems. mjorden above seems pretty pleased with a L2t in a large theatre setting, Helix plugged into the L6 link of the speaker. This could be the way forward for me. :)

The polyphonic pitch effects from Helix are not as smooth as my EHX HOG. I'm talking about playing chords and sweeping pitch with the exp pedal etc, that type of thing. It's okay, but a little glitchy.

The Gemini 2 looks amazing! May be out of my price range though. I think the L2 could be the way forward. Surely 800 watts will suffice? Surely two 10 inch speakers will push the sound outwards and move some air?
-
I'm looking at the L2m. 800 watts (should be loud enough!) and basically the same as the L2t but without the mixer on the side. I wouldn't need a mixer as I only require monitoring of the Helix sound on stage. That Speakon input at the back, does it accept 1/4 inch jack plug?

Hi, thanks for the link. Very interesting comments there. In summary: I'm not concerned about making the leap from amp/speaker to FRFR, I just need a louder FRFR option than the 60 watt Peavey KB3 combo I currently have. Nice clear tone, but no power or headroom.

Hi! The amp was behind me a the correct hight. No monitor sends around the stage as we were playing in a regular size pub and would never normally need to do that. My regular set up is a Fender Twin with effects and an MXR Micro Amp to boost the solos. The Helix sounded amazing (tone and effects wise) but on stage the 60 watt amp lacked head room and just wasn't filling-out the sound of the band. We are not a super loud metal band or anything like that, but we do have a bit of ooommmph! I need a slightly louder solution, I think??

Just wondered what you guys are using onstage to monitor your guitar? I've just played my first gig with my Helix repacing an actual amplifier. I used a 60 watt keyboard amplifier as a monitor. Sound quaility fine, but not LOUD enough. I know it was great sounding out-front, but the band complained I lacked volume on stage. I'd be interested to hear what other gigging players are using onstage with Helix?

How are those regular guitar cabs for colouration of the sound? Do they effect it much?
-
I'm using a Peavey KB3 Keyboard amp for onstage monitoring. 1/4 inch mono to KB3 and XLR outputs to desk.

Not trying to over simplify here, but I find subtle use of a trem arm for up-bends etc helps witt sax phrasing. Use your hands, some fuzz and a little imagination. More fun than looking for a synthesized sax preset.

Excellent. Thanks!

I may sound a bit daft here, but can I create a preset, then copy the whole thing and move it to a new location and save a duplicate of it? Thus having two identical presets? If so, how is that done? I'm still very new to the Helix. I've already mastered so much by refering to the manual and messing around, but the above is something I'm struggling with. Any advice appreciated! :)
-
Hey, slightly off-topic but is there a quick and easy way to copy and paste a whole preset? I've checked the manual but couldn't find any clues.

Allow me to answer my own query: Anyone wanting to experiment with an Electro Harmonix 8 Step into a Helix expression input, make sure you set the 8 Step Depth to '5'. Works great! you can sequence any parameter for Step-Wah, pitch bending, crazy ring-mod effects etc. Mind bending!
-
Anyone tried to use an EXH 8 Step as a controller into one of the expression inputs with the Helix? I had a brief play about with this today, but struggled to get results. I have only owned the Helix for 5 days so still working my way around it.
-
I've had my Helix for five days now. I pre ordered it after trying in-store at one of Paul Hindmarsh's live demos. Actually, in the shop with Paul playing (and me having a play through it) the Helix sounded good, but noting to write home about. I bought one because of the online videos I'd seen. A bit of a leap of faith really. Anyway, now I have mine at home and have had a few days to work with it, I can assure you it sounds pretty fantastic! Just today I attempted to dail in the tone of my 1970 Vox AC30 top boost, the best amp I have ever played. The Helix pretty much nailed it! A very good sign, and one that fills me full of confidence going forward.

Picked mine up yesterday from PMT Newcastle!
-
Yep, end of October I paid for mine. I'm sure it will be worth the wait but I just WANT IT NOW.
-
My Helix was due "mid December" acording to PMT staff. I phoned this week and was told "mid January". This is an official Line 6 forum right? Can anyone from the company explain the delays?
-
I paid the full amount to PMT Newcastle at the Helix demo by Paul from Line 6 two weeks ago. My batch should arrive mid December, according to PMT staff. I can not bloomin wait! This is torture.
