i inda like the idea of having 2 amps,my mesa has incredible crunch and low end but maybe lacks a sweet midrange maybe a marshall has or the bit a 5150 has,i could use the mesa for the bulk of the sound and dial in a 2nd amp for characters missing from the mesa,it also saves lugging 2 amps about!!!!

ok,so i have an idea to use my dual rectifier amp with 4cm and also run an amp model in the helix, say the pv panama and then have that signal mixed into the return of my dual rectifier amp (not input) thus getting my real amp sound mixed with a second amp. so in theory my dual rec fx return will receive the pre-amp signal from the dual rec as normal and also the pv panama signal from the helix that i can blend to taste. any thoughts on this? anyone tried it?is it worth doing? i could in theory just use 2 amps in the helix and send them straight to my mesa fx return(power amp section) but i feel im not utilising the mesa for what its worth lol

I finding that when ive set up my helix at home through monitors and then run thru p.a. system the p.a. system adds alot of colour and gain (obviously as studio monitors are supposed to be extremely flat response). Its hard to get this or any fx unit set up to use on monitors,pa,headphones thru amp etc just using one setting, ive found i have to duplicate my presets for each application, which works fine tbh. The only problem is my ocd,if i change anything in my presets then it has to be the same for all i.e if i change an amp model for say lead, i want the same amp model for each application p.a,monitors etc!!

well after initially using the harmonizer i found out that the effect should go after the amp,not before. I was always led to believe a harmonizer or pitch shifter should get the cleanest signal i.e. clean. When using harm before the amp (amp block that is) it sounded terrible, after moving it to after it sounds great and tracks pretty much flawlessly. Im presuming its the same for pitch shift, so worth a try if you havent tried already

hmmmm ok guys, thanks for input. I may leave it for a few weeks, i dont feel the update really offers me anything more that i need to risk adding bugs etc. Have they got rid of the snapshots icon on the scribble strips???thats really annoying!!!!

Hi, Ive got my helix 99% where i want it for use on a p.a. system and thru 4cm on my dual rectifier. Now, ive seen a few people having issues with the update,i wont be using the PRS model or the new effects but someone did say it sounds like the existing models sound better (may be trick of the ear). Im using the dual rec model when going through p.a. as i use a real dual rectifier when playing with amp set up,is this model any better sounding? cheers

Hi, i have the Helix and its great,i downloaded a glenn delune patch to simulate an acoustic guitar and classical guitar. Both sound truely amazing, even through my electric guitar with emgs into a dual rectifier!!! My question is-what made this possible is the custom I.R he included, without it it just sounded like a clean amp sound,is it so possible then to use I.R's to model any instrument? i.e. a mandolin,piano,trumpet...........

i have tried to get the amp switching working for my mesa dual rec,it just doesnt work. i believe alot of users have the same problem on most amps. i had to buy a voodoo labs control switcher to make mine work, very disapointed in line 6,even my old boss gt10 could switch my mesa!!!
-
i gave in and got a voodoo labs amp switcher,i just couldnt get the helix to change amp channels based on what snapshot i was on!!! now it works fine, just select the right midi cc number for either channel and save for that snapshot, also have the option of running another 3 jacks to change other channels etc. line 6 have failed with this option big time!!!!

i have my g50 on my board next to my helix. i run the g50 into the aux in and a cable into guitar input,i then have both options ready to go,if wireless goes down then the cable is there ready.

all im trying to get is a single harmonised note of what im playing i.e. key b minor +3 it sounds odd,not warbly like its trying to find the note but just lollipop tbh lol. the boss gt-10 was incredible compared to this

Hey guys, ive downloaded the ownhammer ir's and im not over impressed. I find the cab sims much more realistic compared to the i.r's that sound to me like the mids have been sucked out a treble boosted,it gives an impression of clarity straight away that can be misleading. They sound bright and punchy but nothing really like a miced up cab. What are you guys using? Im playing metal but not the typical mid sucked sound, more mid rangy and crunchy aka metallicas live sound these days cheers

ok,ive tried and tried and i just cant get anything resembling a harmony out of this things, its like a garbled mess!!!. yes im in tune, yes its the first block in the chain, any ideas? i had been using a boss gt-10 and it did it perfectly!!! and had user scales!!! cheers
-
hi,is there a global speaker emulated output on this thing? Im running to chains, one to the input of my dual rectifier using 4cm and the other goes out to an i.r. to go to p.a. system. it would save me using a second chain just to house an i.r. block and could use this for other effects.
-
how about an ext amp switch?for changing channels on expensive 3 channel amps duh......oh if only it worked seriously though, a user definable scale for the harmoniser would be great,my lollipop boss gt-10 has one and it works too,you can select each notes interval. change colour of the leds on presets or snapshots. get rid of the cheapy lollipop looking cameras for snapshots, free up more scribble space.

Allow "CV" output to double as a 2nd "Ext Amp" controller.

cv to switch amp?the f@%$^ng ext switch itself doesnt even work!!!!! -
add a mesa dual rectifier to the list....ffs!!!!!

Any solutions for the Mesa Ext Amp Switching problem ?
pete1975 replied to philipjoyce's topic in Helix
Add a mesa dual rectifier to the list of amps that DONT work with the helix's ext amp switching, not happy, i concluded that i'd only be able to change one thing on my dual rec due to only having one switch jack but now i cant do anything other than use the one channel on my 3 channel amp!!!!!!! £1200 and ive got to by another box to make this work?!?!?!?! -
hi,just got a helix and there is a problem with external switching on mesa dual rec. Selecting either 1,2 or 1 and 2 in the options just causes amp to switch between the 2 channels insanely fast sounding like the relay in the amp is switching fast. i know alot of users are complaining about this problem on other amps but seems im the first to highlight it on a dual rectifier. i have been using a boss gt-10 and tbh honest im feeling a bit disapointed with the helix so far, feels ive gone backwards. im using the 4cm and it works great but i cant use the clean channel on my dual rec and am using the jazz rivet pre-amp with no cab, it sounds great tbh but feels like im wasting a 3 channel amp because of line 6!!!! any ideas would be great cheers guys pete

am i missing something here?just trying to find a windows7 based editor for this thing. downloaded the application 2.01 and when i open it up i get a black page and nothing else. helix is connected by usb and i have updated firmware so know usb is working, nothing shows up in device manager tho any ideas? cheers guys
