I just got a 1Spot Truetone CS-7 which has 7 isolated outputs. One is 12v 100mah. I had been powering my G10 with a Lipo power bank but figured I'd try using that 12v output none of my pedals use. I bought a simple 5.2 - 24v step down to 5v board on Amazon. Has a regular female 9v DC socket one side and a USB Type A the other. The Power supply came with a reverse polarity cable in the extras. If you don't have one, you probably need one to get the right polarity for the micro USB, you you can get those separately for less than $10 here. Worked a treat. If you have any spare outputs up to 24v this does a good job.

You could use a RC model car UBEC that taps the main battery to power the receiver. Those usually take any voltage and steps down to 5 or 6 volts (usually switchable via a dip switch or little bridge plug. They are pretty inexpensive. But you would have to attach your own 9v and micro USB plugs. Here's a couple under $10 on amazon prime. The screen seems a decent size on my monitor which is 1440p. I use it with Image line minihost modular which is for PC and Mac.

My favourite VST host is IL Minihost Modular by Imageline (people that make FLStudio) It is a beta WIP though. It's fantastic, low latency, low resources, easy to use. Has a modular visual flow type diagram for linking VST's and Midi and works great on PC and Mac. http://www.image-line.com/documents/news.php?tag=minihost+modular One of the best things is that you can save a graph at any time in Minihost modular and all the settings you currently have within your VST. In this case Helix native are stored with the graph. So you can save Helix presets outside of Helix native. Just load up minihost modular and in the file menu you can load a graph, or pick a recently used one from a drop down list or recently used ones. Works great. Here's a couple of quick screen grabs of it in Windows. This screen shows the Flow Graph view with the Helix native in the signal chain and Helix native plugin opened in it's own window. This is the default view. You can hook up external IR loaders or any other VST's in your graph before or after Helix native. So you have a lot of flexibility and it's very intuitive to use. The Yellow spline in the graph is your audio while the greenish/cyan is your midi control. Right click menu shows an option to view the plugin only which puts Native in a single window like below. Despite being beta software, I highly recommend it if you want a really good VST host. Especially good for live playing setup.

I tried running a VM box android emulator on PC but had lockup problems with the mouse pointer. Just go and vote for an editor. I'd be interested in any MIDI CC# codes that the amp might respond to. that's what a bunch of Marshall CODE enthusiasts used to make their own PC editors like the one in the pic below. It would also be helpful for anyone who has a midi footswitch/pedalboard or other controller kicking around. I use a wireless headtracker as an expression pedal with Wah in Amplitube. Would be cool to be able to do something similar with the Spider V.

I'd like to see better search options for tones. Preferably with filters. Some people have been posting really cool advice for creating patches and left their author names. Plus I have downloaded a couple of fantastic patches and noted the authors name. But there is no way to see what other stuff either of those people have created.

In windows you can record the guitar so long as you have the ASIO drivers available on the Line 6 support site installed. It only records the guitar, not any computer audio like backing tracks that you are sending through USB. ASIO is a third party low latency audio streaming format in Windows. I think OSX has something similar built into the OS, Line 6 might have simply left it to it's own devices. Check the line 6 support site just in case there are extra utilities, drivers etc for the Mac. UPDATE: Just looked. There are only firmware updates for OSX, nothing else.

You might also have to do some muting if your tone isn't clean enough. It's a must if you want to use distortion well. An experienced player spends more time touching strings other than the ones that are making the noise to stop them sounding. It requires using parts of both hands in all the right places and takes a long time to master.

I suspect it's the same as the 60 which I have. When you plug in a second guitar via cable into the Spider V the G10T is no longer picked up. When you unplug the wired guitar it works again.

Cool idea, I looked it up and there are a bunch off apps for android to mirror and control your Android on the PC wirelessly. Only problem is that you still have to hook your android device to the amp by USB.

I figured out a way with a utility called ASIO Link http://odeus-audio.com.au/ It's not ideal because it's quite confusing, you get a window like the one above for each asio app you use and there aren't any decent tutorials. Its like a switchboard that lets you mix audio streams between multiple ASIO apps and windows sources and combine them into a single audio stream. It creates it's own playback and recording devices that you can hook up the output to combine the window audio playing through the Spider Speaker with the guitar into a single low latency output the broadcasting software can use. How low the latency is depends on your setup.

I heard someone already did it successfully and judging by the photos of the official cable. It does look very straight forward. I assume the Transmitter has some overcharge protection circuitry built in what with the battery being Li-ion or Li-poly. I'd wait till you get the amp before worrying. It doesn't take long to charge and probably only has a few hundred mAh battery. The guitar is playable with only a few minutes charge. you might not need the separate charger. Especially if you have it hooked up to your computer, you can watch a youtube video or something while you wait. The speaker actually sounds pretty decent playing videos and music being full range.

The problem is that the software streams the licensed backing tracks, there are no audio files you can playback. It's also quite convenient to not have to add yet another piece of software to the loop. You already have Web cam, music app, broadcasting software that acts like a daw. Also in my particular example with yousician the timing of the backing is critical because it is synced to the app which analyses your guitar note and chord playing accuracy and timing in realtime. It really needs ASIO for low enough latency to critique your accuracy. At the moment I'm just using the headphone jack and splitting the signal to a CAB which defeats half the point of the amp. If it wasn't for the G10t wireless I guess I could just do away with the amp and use Bias FX or similar instead. But I do quite like the lack of clutter of the spider V, wireless and only 2 cables coming out of the computer. Instead of half a dozen with various pedals and interfaces hanging off the side of my desk. Anyway, was just a suggestion to maybe add a mix toggle in the firmware that shows up in the amp settings menu (if it's possible and they just didn't think to add full speaker output through USB) Presonus Audiobox iOne has a direct button that mixes the Computer and instrument audio 50/50. the iTwo has a Mix knob that mixes PC playback and instruments.

The software uses licensed tracks in it's own proprietary format or user created content streamed from their servers and synced to the scrolling tabs. So the output is from the computer. When you use an ASIO interface like the Spider V there is no computer track. The computer track goes direct to the amplifier with the volume controlled by the master volume and your guitar is mixed in with the EQ volume. Unfortunately because only the guitar is output and there is mixed output feature there is no way to capture the backing track. Yousician is a pretty cool guitar teaching and learning tool that's becoming quite popular it critiques your timing accuracy and uses ASIO for lower latency. An example of the type of thing people do with an interface: Rocksmith is a video game that works in a similar vein only with less emphasis on timing and more about having fun. With OBS (free broadcasting software) you can do the whole lot in one take without any mixing and editing using a DAW if you have a interface that lets you mix the computer and instrument audio. I know Presonus interfaces do.

I couldn't get it to recognize the code through Bluestacks. But I'm not a regular bluestacks user. It's relatively easy to get it to work with VM VirtualBox and AndroidX86 plus the expansion pack which allows USB 2 and 3..

It seems to be a sealed unit. Plastic cap on each end and what feels like a black anodized aluminium body. There is a seam on the end where the plug is attached, it's covered with the serial number sticker. I supposed its possible you could pry that or maybe the metal TS plug can be unscrewed but I'm reluctant to try it. Battery life has been pretty good so far. No doubt, when the battery dies I will try and dismantle it. But thats probably a way off. I like it enough that I'm seriously considering buying a G10 kit for my other gear. It's frustration free to use and the automatic cutt off switch makes switching guitars a no brainer. I have 3 guitars and swap them around depending on the genre and playing style. I don't see myself going back to cables and haven't really touched my other stuff since I got the 60 and G10. I wish I had gotten it a couple of months earlier. I bought two 10 foot Mogami cables just before the Spider V and I honestly can't tell the difference.

Yeah, I noticed that with the headphone out being noisy too. I was really hoping to be able to replace all my gear in the study (interface, cables, and Marshall code) with just the Spider + G10T. I'm so close it isn't funny. I just need the Spider V to be able to mix the guitar with the backing track coming through USB and record it. Then all my other gear can go to the small studio in the back of the garage.

I have been very happy with mine. Just be sure to remove the transmitter from your guitars after use. The G10 and G10T are identical only the G10T doesn't come with a receiver (the receiver has two outputs in the back) The downside of the receiver being built into the amp is that you have to leave the amp turned on to charge the G10T. They just released a $15 USB cable so you can charge it independently now. The other downside (as far as I can tell) is that you cannot upgrade the G10T firmware which is stuck at 1.0 where the G10 which is updated through the receiver base unit is at something like 1.4 For me the G10T works very well. Leaving it in the guitar overnight has been a bit hit and miss. One night the battery ran down and I decided to always unplug it since then. No issues since.

I am really liking my Spider V but have started making videos and recordings for practice and come across a problem. Maybe I have overlooked something or it's a shortcoming of the amp and a feature that Line6 might potentially be able to add in a firmware update. I use Rocksmith for fun and Yousician in my practice regime. I have started recording myself to see how well I actually perform from a spectators point of view and potentially share with friends on youtube. The ASIO functionality works pretty well, I can use the Spider V as an interface with my PC. Backing track volume can be adjusted with Master Volume and I can mix in my guitar with the Equalizer volume. The problem is when I try and record the USB output. I only get the guitar sound, no backing track. All the interfaces I have used have either a mixer knob of a 50/50 mix button that mixes the guitar with the backing audio passing through the interface. The only solution I have come up with is to use the headphone jack to output the full sound to my computer or interface but that makes the Amp speaker redundant. I use a splitter to split the headphones to a Marshall Woburn which I use as a CAB instead. Am I missing something? Is there a way to mix the computer audio with the guitar and record on the computer via USB like an interface? I thought I'd ask here before I try posting on the Line6 ideas board. It's a small thing that could potentially be added as a menu toggle in a firmware update. Send all audio through USB for recording. Would be nice to get rid of clutter and just have a power cable and USB cable to PC with Wireless G10 and no other stuff. Have you tried headphones, see if sound comes out of those. I am slightly concerned about my 60. After using the headphone socket I unplugged and next time I went to play no sound. Put a plug in and out of the socket a couple of times and it started working again. Don't really want to send it back, but if it happens again I might have to. Lastly, you could try a factory reset before sending it back.
