  1. Hi I've got this configuration but haven't played in live yet. Do you have allready the "amp in the room" you are looking for (at home or at gigging) ? It's been a long way to obtain what i wanted but i think i approach to my goal.... Another question, how do you use the PC+ ? Do you use it like a Frfr or do you use the speaker models ? Personnaly, i always use the PC tilt back, the sound is very directionnal, if you are not in the axe, you won't have the real sound projected. For your volume probleme, there are many set up. Of course, the first one is the main knob (there's no influence on the FOH), you can turn it up with no incidence. The second is the dB parameter per input (.in the menu, house icon, you can't set the link L6 ) The last one if you work with model speaker is to press the big knob to access at the speaker menu, there's another dB parameter. You'll have enough noise for a backline. The last thing, i was estonished but the high and low cut have an incidence on what you are hearing (it wouldn't on the speaker models), i've programmed a low cut at 70Hz and the high at 6000Hz. Tschuss
  2. I've got exactly the same rig and use it the way you do but i've no problem..... It's strange that with two different units you've got problems
  3. I'm agree with Rvroberts, if your son only plays with the Mesa Boogie, he won't need the other capabilities of Helix devices (a helix FX is sufficient). If he wants to play with the changing of amp modeling (play on a fender, a marshall, etc...), you can pick up a stomp, a LT or the floor....and a FRFR to have the changing of cab simulation....
  4. This is little bit tricky to explain things by posts (and if you don't know exactly where to go in device's menus) but you've understood what i wanted to tell ;). On the PC+, there are three ways to pump up the volume with XLR (the big knob, of course, the db level per input and the db level per cab model) and only 2 with L6 link. The only add for the L6 link today is that it can split automatically the signal into two path for stereo if you have another PC+. I hope that tomorrow, it will possible to change the cab model with that cable. For the definition, it would be better but i don't find a big difference between them.
  5. I had the opposite. I had a lower volume with XLR than L6 link. The reason is that there's a volume parameter that you can setup on the XLR input, you can't on L6 link. To be concrete, my input 1 was at -18db, so when i was plugging on the L6 link, it was louder..... I think your input 1 & 2 are set to 0dB (default), so when you go on the L6 link the volume drops. You should tweak this parameter to be equal between inputs (press the house icon). And you have to increase the volume db per speaker (when you press the big knob on the model speaker you use).
  6. There are two settings to program to max the db. in the general parameters (house icon) you can choose the db per input. Following your cab model preset, click on the main big button and choose the db level..... (I'm talkingabout the plus version)
  7. I have got a Helix but this is the same thing..... I've re-programmed all my presets to use the insides powercab's models (so deleted the cab sim in Helix). The thing i've noticed is that the sound is really lower in this config (you can eventually pump up the volume). But i really find the rendering worse. The other point is if you go FOH, it means you have two serial cab sims with two serial mic'd sim. You should eventually test with a DAW to compare and hear wich one you prefer....
  8. You have to install "Helix Edit" on your Mac. (link : https://line6.com/software/index.html) Connect the Helix to your Mac with the adequat cable, turn it on, and then open Helix Edit software, it will search your device, then you'll see all your patches and you'll be able to tweak all you want. This is not the same way if you want to update Helix....But i assume this was not what you are looking for (for the moment ;))
  9. Thanks ! I'm not limited with this but simply estonished. Of course, with my last FRFR, i could explain that the cab modeler, the mic'd and so on could bring a difference but i play now through the inside powercab models so i can easily compare directly amp models on the Helix and don't catch why passing by from a simple Amp to the bigger one, i loose volume......The AC30 should blown me away compare to the AC15
  10. Hi, I've received my Powercab+ last month and so i modificate all my patches to use with it. I'm trying to obtain the same dB level (with my little ears, it would be great to have an integrated db meter).... Two days ago, i was jumping from one preset with an AC30 to another one with an AC15. With the PC+, it appears better to me that the AC15 is louder than the 30. So i have done a test with the two amps in the same preset and with exactly the same setups on every parameters. The same conclusion......It would be the opposite (the same for the fender Twin vs US deluxe normal) It's not linked to the PC+ cause i don't tweak something and, in fact, i've already noticed that with my FRFR before (amp+cab of course). Have you noticed the same ? Have you some explanation ? Is that due to stereo or stuff like that ?
  11. Do you want to change the cab model on stage ? There's no connexion on the normal that allows to command the cab model changing.... This is the main reason i took the plus (and the future upadtes)
  12. Hi, I post there cause i think you'll have more replies from helix owners. Your problem is really strange, i have a LT and the PC+ too. I don't notice what you have. Have you tried to go mono xlr from Helix to Input 1/2 in PC+ to hear if there's a difference ?
  13. I don't remember if it's, as well, with the powercab+ but i think there were matters following the USB connection on the computer (USB2 vs USB3).....
  14. Hi, I have a Variax, a Helix and recently bought the PC+. The Variax can be compared to the IR (but it's inside the electric guitar instead of the modeler). The PC can turn into FRFR, so there's no matter. For the moment, i'm more on the electrics stuffs to sound as i want. I've invited a friend of mine last time to have a try on it (he has a variax too and a LT). When he tried the acoustic it was pretty convincing..... I don't know what you telling about "play out" but if it's for gigging, i see in your rig that the torpedo cab doesn't have a midi output, so you won't be able to command the PC+ to change the cab sim instantly. I have programmed all my presets in the Helix to do so, it's really magic to change and to see the Cab change automatically......
  15. The plus have more connexions. You can plug a laptop into the USB or the second input.
  16. I didn't have one too. I use the Helix's one for the update and it's simple to do modifications directly on the PC+....
  18. Helix edit is the software delivered with the helix pedal. It commands and communicates with the helix. So you can programm all your presets directly on the device or by this way. Nevertheless, to come back on the language problem, there's no matter to understand things on helix. You press a button, choose what you will put (a delay, reverb, , dynamic, amp, distorted...) and tweak the different parameters. You will understand all without matters. The most important thing is the order/placement of stomps in the chain. Tu habites ou ?
  19. Salut Dany, What do you want it for ? On the device itself or on Helix edit ? I think there's no need about it because in french it would be the same for a lot of terms ....
  20. Of course, i'm not and i ain't gonna say that i know things better than others I'm just talking about my own humble customer route and the way i've followed to buy so many L6's devices ; Two years ago, i've bought a firehawk FX to change my pedal. I've discovered the "Variax" input (this device is cheaper) and it was a revelation. Whaou, i could change per preset my guitar, passing by an electric one to a banjo or acoustic....It's a killing for gigging ! I've taken a step in the modeling world so let's go entirely ! So i bought a standard and a Yamaha DBR10 for FRFR. Then, i wanted to upgrade and buy a Helix LT. i was always missing that feeling of amp in the room so i've just received my new powercab plus.... All that to say that this simple Variax input made me buy a lot of stuffs, made me love the brand and, i have to say, linked to it somewhere ..... I can't say the stomp enters in that magical rig, it's surely a good modeler (with its limitations) and it opens the field of competitors..... It's not L6 bashing, i only express my astonishment and disapointment about this product which could have been a really really good backup solution. I believe that who can do more can do less, and some could have followed the same way as i did. i imagine it would have changed the stomp size and this factor was probably one of the main specifications .....
  21. I was about to open the same topic when i've seen yours ! Since May, nothing has changed ! It was already extremely hard to find and buy a powercab plus (all the famous musicshops website don't have (the plus) in stock). I asked to my shop and they could even told me when it was able to be delivered.....Yamaha providers couldn't tell him !!!!!! Now, it's really hard (impossible) to find the L6 Powercab cover..... I don't even talk about the G70 (the new boss WL-50 would be a solution but it's the same)...... Am i willing all the more difficult product to deliver ?
  22. I don't really think so, they are two distinct familly products. One to be integrated in a pedal board and the other one to be a baby limited helix to bring everywhere or play in your bedroom...
  23. This is exactly what i'm thinking. And yes, i think it's a bad strategy ! Of course, it's a good product that will attract new customers but that's just another (light) modeler among so many others......But nothing tell that those customers will stay with L6. The Variax Owners are more linked to the brand and really believe in the modeling world. This new stomp box don't prevent them/us to go elsewhere. The two last devices don't provide a VDI port. The HX FX corresponds to a stomp box so it's not incoherent to be absent What does it mean ? Variax is surrendered ? We have enough money to throw that we just have to buy the more expensive device or the old ones ? I'm really disapointed, i feel like i was wrong to trust in their products, there's no cheaper new solutions that works as that i have !!!!!
  24. Thanks again pbatts ! In fact, at first i didn't find the command center menu, it's OK now !!! I just have to re-programm everything :)
  25. Themetallica has brought a lot of answers. For the fourth point you just have to stay on snapshot mode, click on the banks set UP/Down button, select your preset and it automatically goes back on the snapshot mode (the last one saved per preset). I hope this was what you were asking.... But if you really want to move from a device to the other one, i would say, the main thing is the way you'll want to use your Helix. I assume, today, you use it with an amp, in front and/or FX loop. If you use the LT this way, i think it looses a lot of interest because you don't use the benefit of cab and amp sims.... This is really another way to thing your rig, it needs a FRFR too.....
