  1. I doubt that anyone at Line6 cares if you swap necks. Why would they? To fix the difference, you can mod the neck pocket.
  2. Some of the old cables did not have the release tab on the Cat5 connector removed. Then it's a Bear to get the thing to release.
  3. I agree that it would be a fair price but I doubt that you Line6 would sell many at that price.
  4. Sounds like a problem with the jack assembly to me. The jack also switches on the power to the board when you plug in the 1/4 plug.
  5. I'd say that is about 50 guitars at most so that is still a fairly small number. Good to see they are still building them though. I wonder which factory this is? Probably still the Korea factory I would guess.
  6. I wouldn't even buy strings at Guitar Center much less let them touch one of my guitars.
  7. You want a good warranty on a Variax just in case the electronics crap out on you. I recommend Sweetwater due to their extra warranty which is free. Their customer service is very good.
  8. The only difference I am aware of is the way the wires on the trem block are routed to the board. The early version had some issues with that and the newer version was an improvement. Mine is a 2012.
  9. I have zero complaints about the build quality of my JTV69S. Fit and finish is as good as any other guitar that I have. I could own four of them for what I would pay for one US version. I may upgrade the neck but I am satisfied with the stock one. I have been on the fence about that for a while. I like the looks of the upgraded necks I have seen here and I may spring for one soon.
  10. The difference is lots of $$. I agree with cruisinon2! Not worth the difference. Same electronics and same limitations. Better built guitar but not worth the over 3X cost difference.
  11. I would love options for new or different models but I doubt that Line6 is motivated enough to put resources on a project like that for Variax at this point.
  12. Bigger number == newer. Year is nice to know. When I bought mine from Sweetwater, you could tell the newer ones by the Serial Number. Sweetwater has pictures posted of the actual guitars. That is better than sight unseen. I could see subtle differences in them from the pix. Some were two years older and some had string alignment problems.
  13. You just set up the Variax model in your Edit program for the preset you are using.
  14. And standard guitar amps only have a bandwidth of about 6KHz.
  15. This kind of low volume product is usually made in batches. They start production back up when they run out. Long delivery quotes don't mean that these things are flying off the shelves!
  16. Yes - setting string volumes and model volumes are the most used features in WB for me also. I have not messed with the models much.
  17. When I bought mine from Sweetwater I asked them to load the latest FW and they did so.
  18. Good players can make any gear sound good! There is a lot out there to choose from. I really like my JTV because it can sound very different by just turning the modeling knob. I don't think it takes any rocket science to use it either.
  19. I do not like the Line6 VDI cable. I got mine from Best-Tronics MFG. btpa.com part number 98-030-004-XXX These cables are great.
  20. I got a nice hardshell for my 69S because I haul it around a lot. I would never use a gig bag for that. (even though they call it a gig bag!)
  21. Get a good case or gig bag. The ones that come with the guitars are pretty cheapo.
  22. I don't see how you adjust without removing it. It's a non issue.
  23. I think you have to re-flash to restore factory settings.
