  1. +1 Karl - good to see you are still around after all this time! Line 6 reccomends using matched tubes and having them biased by a tech "in the know". I have performed a number of replacement/biases on the DTs and found it pretty straight forward in comparision to amps I have worked on in the past. If you have biased an amp it is pretty easy (25mv is reccomended for the DT25, 36v for the DT50). Also be sure the amp is set to Pentode and "class A/B" mode, not in "standby" mode - fell for that once or twice ;) As the bias point pins are pretty close together I often use a single header cable to go on the negative point, then use an alligator clip to connect to the meter - it is a little too easy (for me) to touch the pos/neg together and create a "0.000" reading on the meter. If you haven't biased an amp PLEASE take all necessary safety precautions, as there is potential for injury (or worse) if not performed correctly.
  2. There are 8 effects slots that can be run in almost any configuration, so you should be able to use two similar delays without much DSP load to do what you are trying to do. Try Silverhead's suggestion and see if that makes more sense for your workflow.
  3. are you talking about the guitarist shown at ~ :30? That's Andy Z from Institute of Noize (http://www.instituteofnoise.com/) - check em out!
  4. A lot of end users have either the DT or the L2, depends on what you are looking to achieve. IMO - the DT is great if you plan to do primarily Electric sounds and/or you want a "traditional" amp look/feel. the L2 can be switched between electric and acoustic modes via the HD500/X (the DT doesn't have an acoustic mode) and has a more modern look. You can also run both and switch between the two speakers via the L6 link output to get the best of both worlds (I feel a Van Halen riff coming up in the distance ;)
  5. the HD amp modeling has ~10x the data of the X3 modeling, I notice this most on the "mid-gain" tones with amps like the deluxe, Dr. Z, etc. Either the HD500/X or the X3 will work great with the L2 using the XLR output of either POD and going into the L2 on "reference" (flat response). the HD500/X will also give the option of the L6 link, which can "remember" the speaker setting with the preset and is great if you want to switch between electric guitar mode and acoustic mode with the touch of a button.
  6. I use the "Electric Guitar" mode on the L2 and turn off the speaker modeling in the preset in this configuration, to avoid too much "color" to the sound. You should check the output mode (holding the "view" button) and scroll down to page 4/10, use encoder 1 to select your favorite sound (I like the "stack pwr amp").
