Tap Tempo And Tremolo Not Quite Accurate?
AndyParedesMusic replied to jeremiahzellers's topic in POD HD
The tap tempo works but If you are just a couple BPM off it will sway over time. If you need to lock to a specific tempo there are a couple ways to do it with a tremolo effect: 1: sync via MIDI to your source (i.e. Pro Tools) and set the desired note value 2: turn the tempo "hz" until you get the perfect tempo for your application - don't forget to save once you find what you are looking for. -
if you have a number of time-based effects running on each patch that could be where the "load time" is coming into play and causing a slight delay between presets. Perhaps dialing back on the effects (especially long reverbs) may help shorten the time? would be an interesting experiment to see if it helps. I haven't noticed any problems for my applications when having a MIDI controlled xt or HD500X syncing with a Pro Tools rig (for video), but I don't use a lot of effects. BTW: the FBV also send MIDI CCs (over the Ethernet cable) from what I was told back in CS training - so the message is the same, just the messanger is changing. As Zap said, the only way to know for sure is to try it.

Can I Use My Fbv Express Mkii With The Hd500x?
AndyParedesMusic replied to WithALoudNoise's topic in POD HD
The HD500/X uses a 1/4" jack for the external expression pedal, so this won't work. However, the HD Pro/X and HD Bean CAN use the FBV Express in case either of those options is a better fit for your needs. -
I often start with whatever is the "cleanest/quietest" tone and put that channel volume at 90-95% (just in case I need to adjust against something later). I say "quietest" as a clean Marshall (i.e. Andy Summers/James Honeymoon Scott) will need that headroom to be balanced against a blazing high-gain amp. I then balance all the tones in my setlist from there - first at a low volume and then at performance volume. I find some mid-frequencies tend to cut a little harder at high volume that may not be offensive at lower volumes, so it is good to check at both levels. There are extra ways to control the volume on the HD (additional mixer and amp master controls - didn't have that on the PODxt!) that can be experimented with as needed f you run into a situation later and don't want to re-balance all your patches... Also - when going to a PA with a POD I tend to put the master output on "line" (if using a 1/4" cable) and put it at 100% to get optimal signal/noise and not scare the soundperson if I accidently move the knob during performance.

Flextone Iii And Fb4 Controller
AndyParedesMusic replied to fineg1tm's topic in Flextone I / II / III / Duoverb / HD147
That was right around the time the pedals changed over (~2001-2). The FBV pedal will work with the Flextone III, The FB series (including the FB4 and Floorboard) work with the Flextone II and previous units. Here is a link that calls out what works together: http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/effects/fbv-mki-mkii-controllers/the-complete-line-6-pedal-compatibility-faq-r58 -
try going into the output mode of the POD HD (in "setup") and selecting "combo front" - which will revoice the PDO output. you will also want to make sure the output on the face of the amp is set to "amp" versus "line".
-
Charlie is correct, the HD500 can be plugged into any bass amp. if you are plugging into the front you will want to select the "amp" output on the face, if going into the power amp (FX return) select "line". Also: The L2t or L3t works as a bass or acoustic guitar amp, Abe Laboriel uses it for his main gigging bass amp these days. the cool part about using the HD500/X with the L-series speakers is the L6 link (digital connection) and you can control the different speaker modes (if needed).
-
If you are playing live the HD500X may be a better choice, as you can control any changes (and tune) hands-free without needing extra gear. are you going to be using a "bullet" mic with you harp? If so, try the gibtone 185 or deluxe to start with, that should get you in the ball park if you are going for that tone. I remember a couple years ago a gentleman came to the Line 6 booth and was playing a bullet mic/harp into the "Insane" model on one of the amps - pretty strange but sounded cool all the same. we dubbed him "Meshuggah Harp"

Additional Expression Pedal For Pod Hd500
AndyParedesMusic replied to Misfit_Jeeper's topic in POD HD
Zap is correct - here is the direct link if you are interested in learning more: http://missionengineering.com/?product=ep1-l6 I have the ME pedal and works well, I just don't do much in the expression pedal world so I don't break it out too often... Sean (the demonstrator in most of the videos) uses expression pedals quite a bit so it makes sense that he would choose the ME pedal for the stuff he does. -
Want To Buy An 500x, Have Some Questions First
AndyParedesMusic replied to ChaserHUN's topic in POD HD
1: if you are using the POD HD > Power amp . 2x12 cabinet: I would reccomend starting with the Pre amp models and turn off the cab modeling. Some people find too much "color" if you don't... but whatever sounds best to your ears is what's "right". 2: Yes, you can plug two inputs in simultaniously, as well as route each differently depending on your needs. 3: there are eight setlists on the HD500/X, I tend to have similar presets with different schemes depending on the situation. i.e.: Setlist 1: direct recording Setlist 2: going to powered speaker (full amp/speaker modeling) Setlist 3: going to a tube power amp and voiced speakers (pre-amps, no cab modeling) Setlist 4: Dream Rig this way I can switch as needed quickly if I need to change my rig without trying to write presets in the middle of a performance. -
Hi Hurghanico, Thanks for calling this out - I will connect with the CS team and ask them to look into the situation further.
-
I also started on the xtbean and still use it quite often, despite it being an "older" model. The only drawback I have seen for a (very) select group of users is that the HD Bean doesn't have MIDI DIN IN/OUT, as it was replaced by the SPDIF. Not sure if that is something that would be a deciding factor - if it is you may want to go for the HD500/X or HD Pro/X as MIDI is available there. Space - glad to see you are still around! ;) L6A

Hello, Here is a group of videos that may help getting you started writing your tones: Brian May: http://youtu.be/CZQGFTCQ1LE Brian Setzer: http://youtu.be/BE7TUhkj71s Jimmy Page: http://youtu.be/T1t0FYTu5RM Keith Richards: http://youtu.be/lB6zAWv0wuQ Andy Summers: http://youtu.be/04KAI2RPw4s

Zap is correct. One question that may change the answer slightly - are you in China or Canada (Tom Lee is in both countries)? In China Parson is now the distributor, in Canada it is Yorkville. Connect with your distributor and they can help find the best way to get your amp back to top condition.
-
Stumblin is correct, one point to clarify is that the preamp on the DT is a model (instead of a traditional tube preamp) and you will still need to "balance" the tone between the two channels. I personally run the "clean" channel volume at 95-100%, that way I can balance it against a high gain tone that may only be 60% (but equal volume to the clean tone). When you add a POD HD via L6 Link the POD becomes the "preamp" as well as the effects, so all of your tone balancing will need to happen there. The nice part about that is you can still walk over to the amp anp move dials and it "talks" to the POD, once you have a sound you like you can hit save on the POD HD for later use.
-
+1. try going into the effect loop return and turn off the cabinet modeling on the preset. You can even go a step further and change the amp model from the "full" amp model to just the preamp, which will help remove the extra color of a modeled power amp along with the power amp you already are going into.
-
we created this video (and a number of others) to try and help in this exact type of situation - players who want to "dive in" and get dirty without having to do a ton of reading. Thanks for noticing the video, we should have a half dozen or so posted in the few weeks from some of the most commonly requested guitarists/sounds.

Pod Hd Pro+power Amp+cab Clipping/low End Problem
AndyParedesMusic replied to GageGoss's topic in POD HD
Try backing off the low end and/or gain on your tone and see if that changes anything. You can also try a different cab to see if that changes the situation. You already have a ton of low end, if you are running a scooped-mid tone that could be exacerbating the situation.- 6 replies

Just because the service center is close doesn't mean you have to go there... try calling a few others and see what the rates are. You can even ask if they will sell you the part if you have the tech skills to do it yourself, but keep in mind some service centers won't do this and it is their call on "if" they will sell parts to customers without doing the installation.

Hd500 Bpm's And Patches Won't Stick In Hd Edit
AndyParedesMusic replied to antonellichrisj's topic in POD HD
sometimes the hardware and software can get "confused" if you are editing on both. If you put the "correct" tempo in the hardware ((system I/O page 6/10) that seems to fix it when I have run into this situation. -
this will work very well. either the flip top or bassman would be good starting points, or perhaps just using the "tube preamp" depending on your taste.

Connection Between Pod Hd500 To A Spider Iii 75w
AndyParedesMusic replied to Mitsou21's topic in POD HD
Try connecting the HD500 to the Spider III 75 using the 1/4" guitar input jack, then setting the Spider III75 to a "clean" setting with no effects, that way the POD is controlling everything. Alternately - you can connect using the 3.5mm headphone jack and use the Spider III75 as a "powered speaker". Just to clarify - the Spider III series does not have an effect loop (but the sister product Spider Valve did). -
1) you can control the HD Pro/X via MIDI, so any MIDI controller set the the same MIDI channel will work. 2) The MIDI PC/CC control is typically limited by the controller. I have the original Ground control unit and that sends 8 MIDI channel messages simultaniously... and it is probably 10-15 years old so I am sure newer units can do more. 3) As the POD HD units also have bass modeling (Ampeg and Bassman) I am betting it will be able to handle low end from most applications. Frequency response tends to be more in the speakers you are using. 4) the tuner works fine for live applications and demo work IMO. I have measured the tuner to be +/- 2 cents compared to my Peterson tuners, which is the same as most "standard" tuners available on the market for ~$100 USD. A couple things you can check: reflash the DT firmware: always a good call to ensure there isn't something corrupted in the software. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/amplifiers/dt50dt25/dt25dt50-firmware-installation-instructions-r120 Speaker cabling - be sure things are plugged in, even try a different speaker cable out to a different cab would be a good call to ensure there isn't something wrong with the speaker connection. preamp tubes: these can be changed without biasing. the two preamp tubes in the DT50 act as a booster and phase inverter, so if either of these are "bad" that could be the root of the problem. Any quality 12AX7 will work for this application. Power amp tubes: these need to be replaced/biased by someone with experience, as there are a number of potential problem areas for the "inexperienced". When in doubt, take it to a Line 6 service center.
