Flextone Iii Midi Usb Connection
AndyParedesMusic replied to torrevieja's topic in Flextone I / II / III / Duoverb / HD147
the MIDI sport Uno tends to be the cheapest/most reliable single MIDI interface I have used. we used this all the time when I worked in the CS division and never had a problem with it.- 7 replies

+1 to Phil - this is accurate. To elaborate: the AMPLIFi model set is the same guitar model set from the POD Farm Platinum series, which could also include PODxt, Flextone III, Guitarport Online, and POD X3 (single amp) tones taken from customtone and reformatted to fit the AMPLIFi architecture. There is currently no way to "publicly" translate tones, but something that could go into ideascale for future consideration.

1: It doesn't matter where you have the amp knobs, once the preset is loaded to the amp you can adjust between 0-100 percent. if the knob was physically at 90% but the preset is at 10% a touch of the knob will jump to ~90... which has caused a bit of confusion over the years. 2: you can assign the "FX" knob in the app - just hold the effect parameter (i.e. delay mix) in the app for a couple seconds and it will show an icon for FX control. 3: "Favorites" can be used if you have a certain tone you like to work with a certain track - selecting "favorite" will pull that one to the top. with a song like "back in black" there are LOTS of presets that may come up, once you favorite your preferred tone that will be the top tone so you don't need to search through them all each time.

+1 to Archtop. Here is a link that may help with balancing tones, as well as a couple other topics: http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/general-faq/creating-and-balancing-tones-r434

you can Bluetooth stream from anywhere, you need to have the music on the IOS7 device for the AMPLIFi tonematching to work. +1 to Wooly: if the "white" volume is low the overall volume for the guitar will seem weak. The presets were originally written to be balanced with the guitar volume (white) at 40% and the red volume wherever needed, but if you are using it as a guitar amp we recommend moving the "white" volume to 75%+ to get the most volume from the "red" (overall) volume.

Re; the FBV not working - Are you synced via Bluetooth? if you are syncing Bluetooth to the amp the FBV controller will not control the amp, as the control is now in the hands of the IOS7 device. once you turn off BT sync the FBV will be functional.

Anyone Order This Amp Yet? I Am So On The Fence...
AndyParedesMusic replied to FTLOSM's topic in AMPLIFi
you are correct, there is no "audio EQ" other than doing that on your bluetooth device. The POD HD may still be great for other needs (i.e. USB recording, performance without an amp) so hang onto that until you are positive you can live without it! -
Loading Podfarm, Pod X3, And Pod Xt Tones On Amplifi?
AndyParedesMusic replied to brotherjoseph's topic in AMPLIFi
The current tones in the amplifi database were taken from compatible tones from Customtone and converted to work within the amplifi architecture. I have heard there are ~7000 tones now, as more people get the amp and start creating tones I am sure that will expand very quickly. -
to add onto Zap's comment on the model set - the AMPLIFi model set is taken from the POD Farm guitar amp models, which were reworked from the Vetta/Xt/X3 set. All the guitar amp model packs from that era should be present and no additional amp add ons are available at this time.

krisreese and FTLOSM are correct. The only physical differences are the speaker size/weight, and the presets are interchangeable. I haven't set them up for a side by side comparision with the same tone, but tones I have worked with written on a 150 sounded similar when loaded onto a 75. Hope that helps.

Phil is correct - The "handle" doesn't pop up but is a ledge behind the controls (when looking from the front) with an open area underneath with a "grip". I really like this as it allows you to set an item on top without fearing it will fall off (like most amps!). I took the best photo I could muster with my phone camera, hope this helps https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/25040586/amplifi%20handle.jpg

Currently the FBV Mk II pedals boards are supported to control the Amplifi units, which uses a standard ethernet cable to control when you are not syncing via Bluetooth.

To call out a couple points: 1: You need to have the song you want to play on the IOS7 device for the tone matching to play through the Amplifi app. I fell for this when I first got the app, as it would "see" songs I had purchased but not downloaded to my device. This can be changed under "settings" and selecting "hide songs not on device". 2: You absolutely can stream songs that were burned from your CD collection, I have tested this a number of times and works great. my only problem is then I sometimes have to find the original album artwork online before installing on my iPad so I don't have to look at the red "beamed" eighth notes ;)

Anyone Have Patches To Send For Hd500/dt25 Combo?
AndyParedesMusic replied to Lawless33's topic in DT50 / DT25
Some great advice here. Here are a couple things that may help: 1: I usually start with a tone I worked up in "direct mode", then copy that to a different setlist that is for dreamrig presets. 2: I always use the "pre" models when connecting to a DT, also check your output mode to ensure it is set to combo or stack power (depending on what firmware you have it may be labeled differently). 3: Try turning off the cab modeling to avoid too much color Happy tone writing! -
Saving L3t Speaker Modes With Pod Hd Pro Patches
AndyParedesMusic replied to wicker_man's topic in POD HD
Hi Wickerman - I have noted this as well. The documentation states we need to put the DT first in the chain to ensure the topologies are correctly controlled. I personally just leave the L-series in "full range" mode as I use it only for acoustic sounds rather than a stereo field. May want to ping customer support directly to see if this is a supported use or needs to become a feature request. -
Pod Hd Desktop Worth Updating To From Pod 2.0
AndyParedesMusic replied to adam_on_bass's topic in POD HD
+1 to all. If you were using a Line 6 controller and want to know if it will still work with your new POD HD bean - check the Ethernet jack on your POD 2.0: if it says "FBV" then it works with the later controllers (FBV and FBV Mk II). if it says "pedal" it is not compatible with the newer units (Line 6 had to make this change around 2001with the release of Vetta). http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/effects/fbv-mki-mkii-controllers/the-complete-line-6-pedal-compatibility-faq-r58 -
+1 to Zap - I have seen this a few times as well. You may want to try your JTV on a different HD500/X/Pro to see if it is getting power there, or a different JTV with your rig to ensure you are sending the correct piece of gear for repair.

+1 to Phil. The reccomendation really depends on what your application will be. If you need amp modeling and/or direct recording along with effects then the POD HD would be the best direction. However; if you are more interested in purely "effects" and keeping your traditional amp setup then the M9 or M13 may be the better choice, as you will have more direct control over the parameters (right in front of you rather than scrolling through menus).

you may have an early version of firmware that did not include the "screamer" effect, which was added in later firmware versions. Here is the link that explains how to update: http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/amplifiers/spider-valve/updating-the-spider-valve-mk-ii-using-line-6-mo-r268

Best Way Of Getting A Dual Guitar Sound? (i.e. Thin Lizzy)
AndyParedesMusic replied to Magiciv's topic in POD HD
there are a couple ways to go about this as already discussed, but I wanted to add one point: the "mix" on the smart harmony seems to be "even" around 33-35% for most of the applications I have used when creating dual guitar sounds such as Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden, etc. I tend to put these after the cab/mic modeling which sounds more "natural" to my ear (but use whatever works best for you). If you decide to use this approach, these links show examples of how to program for the two/three part harmonies. +1 to Silverhead. MIDI was created for "control" back in the day using a 5-pin DIN - which at the time was the common computer connection for a mouse (no USB or bluetooth back then ;). A common MIDI application in the early 80s was to be able to play a note on a single keyboard with a specific tone and "layer" that with other keyboards connected via MIDI to achieve a string sound on Keyboard 1, brass sound on Keyboard 2, Piano sound on keyboard 3, etc. By the late 80s guitarists with complex rigs were often using MIDI to control their rigs as well, most often for preset changes. Take a look across the internet to find more history on the use of MIDI with guitar rigs.

For visibility - the HD300/400 and Bean do not have MIDI jacks, so you will want to consider the 500/x if MIDI control is necessary for your needs.

Two Questions
AndyParedesMusic replied to ricoustic101's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
FYI: the alternate tunings are "calibrated" (for lack of a better term) to standard pitch, so if you perform an instant capo with an exotic tuning (i.e. Open C) the notes may not be correct if you are already tuned down 1/2 step. not that you plan to do that, but just in case you venture down that road. If you plan to use multiple opening tunings you may want to switch to the HD500X, as you can have each patch contain a custom tuning. -
Here is a video that shows how to select the instrument (as well as tuning) using the 500X edit software: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lB6zAWv0wuQ&feature=youtu.be
