Helix sounds great with IR's thru studio monitors......

they will both do the same thing sound wise, But you cant switch between the different speaker types or to FRFR mode from the helix on a preset or snapshot without getting the Powercab Plus. So if you have a Helix The Plus is the only way to go... Unles you like the same speaker selection for all your presets and snapshots......

You might be able to load a Convolution reverb IR in wave format into the powercab I have not tried it, but you could not load a regular IR at the same time.

You will also have to choose a different input For path 2A you can assign one of the effect loop inserts for that.

You could use path 1A for the guitar blocks and output 1A to the digital output using L6 link cable to powercab plus......... Then use path 2A for keyboard blocks and use XLR output for path 2A or you could use 1/4" Out for the keyboard to connect to regular powercab.

The Helix can handle the 2 signals thru it but the powercab will only do one thing...... you would need a second powercab from a different output from the helix for the keyboard

you don't really need two unless you are doing stereo effects and want some separation, If you have a Helix you should get the PC Plus cabs so you can control the powercabs from the helix presets with the L6 link cable....... I have 2 PC Plus cabs, I don't run them in stereo i run one with the Vintage 30 speaker sim and one with the greenback with distorted patches and switch them when playing a clean patch..... The Helix can change the powercab settings for every preset or snapshot. Also on the PC Plus cabs The Lights and controls are on the top so you can see them while playing, you can tell what there set for by the lighted ring.

he wanting the reverb block to be in the powercab you can load IR's into the powercab but there are no effects there.

Im using Helix Floor and 2 1x12 powercab Plus cabs they sound awesome.....

I have the HS5's in my studio room they sound great for all things from recording and jamming to youtube videos, I play my helix thru them but also thru a pair powercab 1x12 plus cabs, I dont use headphones unless i have to or need to, the Beyerdynamic DT770 Studio 80 ohm are awesome.

I have a pair of 1x12 Plus cabs but have not played music thru them because I have studio monitors in the same room for playing backing tracks thru..... will be watching to see if others have used them that way....

I was going to get this set but went ahead and bought 2 1x12 plus's, the extra was worth being able to change speakers setting on both from presets or snapshots.

this is how i have it set up now the IR only goes to the XLR output on the helix.......... can I do the same out to the power cab and only have the IR on the XLR of the powercab plus i dont send an IR to powercab because i am using the speaker sim on the power cabs.....

I have not used the Helix live yet...... I Have helix floor 2 1x12 powercab plus cabs wired with L6 link...... at home I am using Digital output to PC Plus cabs using the speaker sims one set to Vintage and one set to Greenback in the PC's...... I have one XLR output with only an IR going to it and that is my FOH output to Audio Interface. Im not sure what i can do with the PC's can i use them one set to Vintage and one set greenback and load an IR that will only effect the powercab XLR ins and outs to send that to FOH......

I have a pair of powercab plus they do not make any loud buzz or noise they are very quiet.

I bought 2 PC +s before I got the Helix I use the PC+ in speaker mode I will use a different speaker sim on each cab.... Have not used this live yet.......

I have 2 Powercab Plus 1x12's I can set them both to be the same or chose a different one for each.......

saw Pat Travers yesterday he was using a Helix with a Mini red bogner pedal in a loop straight into a Marshall JTM 2000. he was using helix for effects........

I have 2 PC Plus cabs I use the line 6 Link cable to the first cab and another link cable between the 2 PC plus cabs...... I use the speaker simulations in the power cab and you can set them to be the same or you can set them to be different speaker types for each preset or each snapshot......

I dont know about the laney cabs but i have 2 powercab plus cabs and dont like the sound on FRFR but using the speaker simulations on the PC's sounds great... so I send IR's to the XLR outs and send digital out to the powercabs and you can change speaker types with presets or snapshots.....

Update: I bought a Helix Floor running ownhammer IR's to XLR outputs for FOH and digital outputs to powercab's running the speaker sims in powercabs sounds great....... at home i send the XLR output to my studio monitors and digital to Powercab's. First gig will have to set volume levels between patches and make sure eq is good between helix and board.........

back story: I have been gigging with Friedman Runt 50 and 1x12 friedman cab. so I bought a atomic ampli-fire box thought i would use it for recording...... using the AFB thru my studio monitors it sounded awesome I said to myself i need this sound live....... so i got the pair of power cabs........... plugged in the AFB does not sound any thing like the sound thru my monitors.......... did not set the input level YET........ will do that today after work........... I think i will go get a HELIX to run to the powercabs........... so the real question is the unit sounds so different the my monitors and the powercab......... how do you EQ the multieffects to sound good to front of house and sound good to the powercabs
