So I went away for the long weekend and shut my computer down to be safe. Come back this morning and it won't boot up at all. That won't help my support ticket resolution! Hope its not related... WTF?

+1000 (any degree come to think of it)

Thanks Duncann, tried what you said no help. As an update, Licence Manager shows the POD authorized and model packs installed, my computer shows authorized but no model packs installed. I deauthorized and reauthorized but no help. HD Edit when you click About shows no model packs installed because that's what the computer shows. The model packs should be showing in both the computer and the POD. I updated my support ticket too. I really think that is dumb. I should be able to edit my POD from any computer as long as the models are installed and authorized on the POD. I absolutely hate poorly designed and functioning copy protection...

not so fast... I went to the store and added some of those other packs to my cart... no discount... add the HD packs, discount... Maybe they MEANT it for all of them but it ain't working that way...

I have developed a new problem with HD Edit and the new model packs. The new models are loaded and authorized on my POD and work fine. My computer shows authorized but the models won't load. Now when I use HD Edit I can't see or select the new models. I can pull them up from the POD and the graphic shows the new models in HD Edit, but the drop down list stays empty and the names are not there. Also if I then try to SEND the patch from HD Edit to the POD I get the big communications error pop up and it doesn't work. I am pretty sure everything worked fine when I first installed it. I did do a bunch of Windows Updates a few days ago. Maybe something there interfered with the settings. I have a support ticket open and will update here if it gets resolved. They already had me reinstall HD Edit and the drivers which didn't help at all. Not too frigging pleased to see the 30% off sale this morning since my 30 day window just expired. WTF?

pretty sure its additive. 4X30=120 so your cab is now rated at 120 watts.

No, I think he is right. It's not ever going to be suitable for the POD simply because of it's size and design. It's just too small and underpowered to be effective, IMHO.

I'm 59, primarily use desktop or laptop to access but occasionally my Android phone. I started playing around '68-69 with lessons from Aubrey Rolfe... great guy, British, really knew his stuff and was instrumental (no pun intended) in my early development. Gigged for a few years after high school. Those were very competitive days back then. There was a tremendously active circuit around high school dances. Rush played at my high school as did April Wine and a bunch of others. I did a 20 year stint with Uncle Sam's Misguided Children where I mostly just jammed with friends or by myself or at parties. After that I played for years in a great worship team at a large church. I mostly do local studio work and open mics now but am looking to do more solo projects this year. Got my first computer in 84 and been knee deep in tech ever since. I have always been an early adopter for new tech and keen to learn and share. I am not ashamed to say I am all in with my L6 dream rig. Best sounding and playing rig I have ever had and has never let me down. Knock on wood... PS - I keep a browser tab to New Content all day at work and usually at home too.

Actually using the MP3/Line in is the preferred connection for the POD. That bypasses the internal preamp in the HT-1 and lets the POD do all the work with the HT-1 providing the tube power amp and speaker. If you don't want to use the POD then you can just plug your guitar into the input on the HT-1 and use it as a stand alone amp. You would play your backing tracks by plugging your player into the MP3 input on the POD.

based on your budget and requirements I suggest you look at the Blackstar HT-1 1X8 tube combo. This little 1 watt tube amp should be just what you are looking for. You can plug the 1/4 out from your POD into the 1/4 MP3/Line In or if you just want to plug into it direct with your Big Muff you can leave the POD at home. Either way you have a nice little tube amp from a great company and it's in your budget.
-
Your amp is solid state so no advantage to 4CM for you. I suggest as cruising said, just go straight from the left mono out to the power amp in on your amp. Set the POD out to Line and turn the level up towards max for the best signal to noise ratio. Think of the level as a POD master. Set up like this, your amp is really just a powered speaker cab with a fixed volume set at max. Everything will need to be done in the POD including volume control. This should give you the best signal to your amp and really let the POD do all the work. I think you will like it much better this way.

I have a DT25 HD with a 2X12 closed back cab with a Vintage 30 and an Eminence Governor. I think it sounds fantastic. It is full, rich and loud. The two speakers complement each other nicely. I also just built an open back 1X12 and fitted it with another Governor. The open back cab has a somewhat lighter tone, not as dark but still has good bottom end and fills the room nicely. I really like the Governor as a single speaker. I have found the V30 by itself is a little too heavy on the mids for my taste. I 'm pretty sure you will hear a more honking tone than the G12 with everything else the same. The V30 is rated at 60 watts so it may break up a little sooner than the G12 as well. Still it is a well respected speaker. I also like Warehouse Speakers. A great little American company with a full range of awesome speakers and a little better pricing. I am considering getting the Reaper which is rated at 30 watts to put in my 1X12 just to see how it compares with the Governor at 75 watts. It may not have as much clean headroom but should be sweet in most of the volumes I like to play at. Changing speakers is probably the single easiest and most effective way to change the tone of your rig. Not necessarily the cheapest! Steve

Hey Shawn - you should probably stop with the generalizations. You like to leave it vague enough that nobody can really tell who you are talking about that it could be just about anyone on any given day. Have you read through those thousands of posts? Really? There are a lot of guys on here that have spent a LOT of time helping others get the most out of their gear or solve general problems... and occasionally some of us still post things you may not agree with... mostly there is a grain of humor included but sometimes it generates butt hurt... not intentional but not apologizing either... When you've been here a while you will see these same posts repeated over and over... different poster, same idea... so yes, it can generate an unexpected response... funny how we all keep reading though... Steve

Damn you! Come in here and make a nice post like that and take all the wind out of our sails... LOL... Best of luck and sure, tell us how it works out...

I'm sure you mean well but on this side of the pond we are mostly laughing at your comments.. I know you folks over there aren't quite the free speech lovers we are and like to think you can control the discussion but on this side of the pond we pretty much say what we feel when we want to say it... if your feelings are hurt, well, its just a forum... the folks you are bashing have spent a lot of time and effort answering questions and giving advice to others on these boards, some of it even to you and your questions... I realize you just got here last month but perhaps you could get back to how the gear works, how best to use it, ways to help others improve their guitar tone instead of trying to impose your ideas of civility on the world... just saying...

it's gratifying to see a whole new crop of users begin contributing to the community. Now can everyone just stop trying to regulate and control the tone and content of one another's posts? Maybe now we can return to posting helpful information, tips and tricks, new discoveries or asking questions about how to improve our use of Line 6 gear... I for one, don't care how the competitor's gear works; I can go to other sites for that information.
-
Thanks! I appreciate a well thought out, informative, review of competitive products. Glad its working for you...
-
No offense but I don't see that happening... think about it... you just dropped 3-4 grand on a gear change and made a public announcement over it... Is there any chance at all you would post anything other than "this is the single greatest move of my life"? and as Hillary says "what difference at this point, would it make"? Would you sell your gear and move to Fractal if he said he liked it?

I think the problem was with DT50's, not so much the DT25. I have a DT25 Head and it has worked flawlessly other than the occasional need to reflash the firmware...

I'm having trouble with my mechanical engineering studies... I know! Let me change my major to quantum astronomical physics! what could go wrong?

How is the nut on that neck? works well with the trem or should I think about the Tusq nut? Arislaf - I like what you did with the knobs...
