  1. Interesting, I noticed no volume adjustment on your patches. Any changes to the global string volume?
  2. I love the velcro shoes...That's what I'd be wearing if I bought this. I'd have my velcro shoes, these amps, this guitar, this pedal, this phone book, and I would be living in a tent after I got thrown out of the house, and wearing those shoes!
  3. Might be pretty spiffey to put two rotaries together, parallel paths, one for the bottom speaker, one for the top.
  4. make sure you get the rotations per minute correct too!! Slow about 40 bpm, Fast about 360-370.
  5. I took the vibe rotary and loaded it in reaper to get an idea of the pulse timing. I set the metronome to 370 bpm, recorded a bit of some single notes. Seems that the setting corresponds to 100 rpm multipliers. 1=100 RPM, 2=200 rpm etc.. The original had a slow speed and fast, and the slow speed was about 40 rpm, fast about 370 rpm. The 3.7 setting seems about dead on to the 370 bpm metronome. That setting with the roto-vibe dropped into a parallel path post amp, pre speaker sounds perfect for what I was shooting for.
  6. Slow speed and fast speed are decimal numbers in the Helix, is it safe to say that 1.0 equals 100 RPM?, 2.0 equals 200 RPM? Would seem logical.
  7. Fremen great package, have used them to actually gig with, got my money back the first night!! Really appreciate the effort, worth the $$$$ for sure.
  8. Folder icon is a "snapshot" you can have a total of 8 depending on how the foot switches are arranged. The small "e" indicates the patch has been edited and has not been saved.
  9. If all you are going to do is play electric guitar through a modeler than guitar speakers are probably the way to go. I chose FRFR because on occasion I play keys, I may play a backing track, I may play percussion, I may play a wedding with another singer, i may play a Variax acoustic or JTV acoustic model, I may play bass, I may play guitar synth... all through the modeler. Versatility requires a jack of all trades--FRFR. No disagreement with the OP at all.
  10. Any thoughts on Foreigner tone? Seems all through the POD series we have been pretty limited in regards to those tones from the first 4 albums. Saw them a month ago, granted no original members, but the guitar tone was epic! Les Paul on one side, SG on the other side.
  11. All great ideas, but I had to laugh a little bit when I realized in the time I used to read this I could have been double checking all of my IR assignments!
  12. Alto truesonic 212. I have a pair, very light, plenty of power, 1100 watts peak, couldn't be happier. Run the keyboard through the other channel on one and vocal monitor on the other alto. Also has a line out to go to FOH. Probably $600 or less for the pair at GC if you talk to them nicely.
  13. Alto truesonic ts 212. 1100 watts peak? I have two. Really solid, can send an out from the alto to FOH as well. Probably $600 for two of them. Light, no bigger than a QSC k12. For guitar the sound is equal to the k12.
  14. Really, really impressed with these.
  15. Might be the speaker. I have the same set up, just phenomenal with very little tweaking at all. Check the stagesource with various music through the rca. Does that sound muffled?

    WOW!

I thought I had my 500x really tuned well, tried a Helix out at a local shop and came home with one and an Alto speaker. Just WOW!!, What a difference. Spent a good time updating the firmware, everything went perfect, just WOW. Blown away. :D
  17. Great vid! this sold me-was wondering about running FOH stereo, feed to my stage amp or/or FRFR on stage for monitor and another input for a variax acoustic to FOH.
  18. We always talk about it, how do we go about detecting digital clipping? The X3 had a clip light. I am unaware of any clip indicator on the HD500X? I noticed my Glenn Delaune patches had pretty low output when I purchased them and it started me thinking about whether my own patches were clipping since they had so much more volume. Tyler Variax-500X-to Lt2
  19. Either works just as well. I have one l2t and qsc k12's. They are equal in sound quality. The qsc's are a little more compact. I take two qsck12 one ksub, rack, one l2t stagesource, 3 guitars, keyboard, all stands and wife in a 4 door chevy sonic. The k12's are easier to pack, move around etc compared to an L3. Wife wouldn't be able to handle an L3 but she can handle a k12 on occasion.
  20. Ran a g30 last night for the first time. 4 different wifi networks running through the venue + our own internal wifi client for our sound system and tablets. No problems,no interference, no static, no dropouts, sounded great, No battery issues. Definitely a step up from my last wireless which was a samson unit about 15 years ago. Just wow!!
  21. Don't discount the use of eq to get where you need to be. Lots of good info on the Google regarding live bass through a PA and how to cut through. Many a bass has been lost when trying to compete with a kick drum. Had that problem when my bass player--he brought in a POD X3 Live rig, just would not cut through, even if we DI'ed out of his amp or X3, Some eq tweaks brought it right out where it needs to be. I think of the sound spectrum similar to paint by numbers. Stay inside the lines with the brush or the colors run together. Scroll down this link for some great starting points. Assuming your PA can hit in the 40 hz on the bottom end. http://www.presonus.com/news/articles/Equalizer-Terms-and-Tips
  22. Will you be using the same PA every night? If you are than a side by side comparison should be able to nail just about everything but the room effect itself. I took the leap of going direct but I own the PA so I was able to plug in direct and tweak until I got what I needed. Sounds fantastic, but I have all of the control. When you start using other PA's and sound guys you are at the mercy of the equipment they have and the sound guys abilities or lack there of. Ran into one guy, he told right out didn't care for direct to board, put no effort into it, he was surprised by the end of the night of how little he had to do.
  23. Any pro's or con's to placing a physical equalizer in the signal path? Should I go guitar->eq->pod->tube amp or guitar->pod->eq->tube amp? I use the loop for boosts so that already taken. Amp has only one tone control, no effects loop. BTW Happy Fathers Day to all musicians out there. The struggle is real but a childhood with music...priceless, way to go Dads!
  24. I'm a little new to this whole IR thing. Are you saying that you have an IR for say "Gypsy Guitar" and when it's loaded/active the variax sounds like the gypsy guitar? The reason I ask is this seems to me I could consolidate my variax 700 acoustic sounds with my 69s. Anybody have any sound samples?
