You said lightweight? Make sure you lift a stagesource first. My def of lightweight=wife/girlfriend/sig other can carry them and not complain. Alto 10's or 12's she never complained. She picked up the stagesource once, never did that again.

You know-life is pretty damn good..

Savage Macht 12. Just loaded the patch to custom tone. Golden Arch.

Good question on phase. I've never run into that as a problem though. I run one FRFR and a tube amp. Never had any type of phase issue. I run a small tube amp and an alto 210 or 212. Here is the kicker though-I do not run everything through both. I typically run volume, wah, compressor, pre-amp, amp block, eq, reverb to the tube amp through send 1. The path continues along, includes the previously mentioned and adds modulation effects, delays, cab block to FRFR. This way I have dirt and reverb in one send, dirt reverb modulation, delay in the other. Makes for a nice full sound. When I play live I mic the tube amp to one channel on the board, and either pull direct out of the alto, or direct out of the helix to another channel on the board. I also run a separate path (2) for acoustic guitar for another player in the band. That goes direct to FRFR/board.

Because you bought the 210's you have 4 channels. use a send block. I do something similar but use a send block before the speaker/IR block to a small tube combo amp. and then left right to alto's. Love it. Best of both.

What model of audio technica?

Played it last night on helix (well not the notes) but the exact same settings with a two different strats, really crunchy, responsive. Added a tube screamer and an arbiter. The fuzz was glorious, been trying to get that helix version to work for a while. Had to turn the stock setting down to 1.0, left the level at it's default, just wow. My tube screamer settings still need some work.

Mention TUNER and hijack any Helix thread :D

I ran my helix through an Alto TS212 with bass and was stunned at how good it sounded. Would it work live IDK. And I don't play bass.

It's like new golf clubs. Buy them, play them a bunch and the game improves. Lasts about 45 days though. I have a strat plus with the original Gold Lace Sensors. They have really stood the test of time.

or maybe just some cabs and not others?

My path has been similar, just really happy, and about 5 months with the unit is about right. I run a complete signal from helix to FOH but also split off a send to a small tube amp. amp stays dry except for wah, drive, preamp or full amp, reverb. chorus, vibe, echo etc. is all post small tube amp and continues to front of house along with cab/ir. Two channels to FOH-Helix direct and an audix i5 on the tube amp. It's exactly what I hear in my head. also run a complete separate path for Variax 700 acoustic for other guitar player.

Glenn, Whatever you did to match the amps, It is glorious! better than the last set! You should probably go back and check your homework on the first set of boutique patches! lol!

quarter inch to quarter inch, one to each speaker. keep it simple at first. many possibilities after you get that taken care of.

What wireless IEM's do you use?

Always a problem when speakers are on the floor, close to a wall etc. Coupling happens. My 212 had a contour on the back too-results in a 3 db boost on lows and highs. i always make sure its off.
-
It always depends-how many strings, string gauge, size of room, mounted on the floor, on a pole, on a case, tilted back. I have an alto 212 (only one 12) but its boomy when at my feet and tilted, sounds very different on a pole, great when sitting on a case or box. Global EQ in the helix can help. Also the low and hi cuts on the speaker simulations inside helix. I default to 75 HZ and 7.5 kHz for electric. The 212 is really light so think about that before you jump on a cheap 15, I'm sure the 10's are lighter still. Space matters too-do you have enough room in the vehicle for that and all of your other stuff?

My tube amp is pretty clean and clear so I just go direct into the main input. Only one tone knob and I run that at about 10:30. The Alto and the tube amp just ended up sonic-ally complimenting each other. Complete fluke, everything is "there" now. Nothing missing, creamy, violiny, sustain. Scrolled through the rest of the amp models tonight using just the stock settings. Really really nice.

I have struggled with this too, tried to figure out the best solution and I thought FRFR was the way to go but... just by chance I had some down time after the update, played a gig with just the new amps and was really really happy FOH and an alto 212 at my feet. It was great but...more downtime led to boredom and tweaking and twiddling. Tried the helix into my tube amp- Ran a compressor--> Minotaur--Teemah--Litigator--Reverb-send to tube combo through send 1, path continues to univibe, rotary, another reverb-delay-1 x 12 fender cab to Alto 212. absolutely blown away Cant stop playing now...

I will be trying tonight. Through an Alto TS212 and a Tube Combo Amp, and both. Will circle back late this evening. Will post some thoughts and maybe sound files too.

Has anyone compared the Helix OD and distortions to the real thing? Buddy of mine has a few of the actual drive pedals that are in the in the helix and a fender deluxe reverb. thinking about AB ing the real pedal into the real amp, the helix modeled pedal into the real amp, the real and modeled amps AB, and then drive the modeled deluxe with the real overdrive pedal. If its already been done I would like to know so I don't waste too much time. Of course use the same guitar, same cords, same player.

Officially it was 8 minutes

Great timing, although will have to stop playing for Turkey.

Balancing patch volumes can be tough, best method I have used is first start with a db meter, either on phone, iPad or use a DAW and monitor inputs there. If you play covers or are working on a a particular artist tone, the next step is to play along with the song or backing tracks and adjust to fit in the mix. FIT is key, not overpower. I use a gain block for boosting, anywhere from 6-8 db for a clean, 3-5 for a gainy patch. Play at rehearsal to dial in the adjustments, then after the gig review, critique, and then adjust.
