  1. What kind of noise? A hum, a buzz, or something else?
  2. From the manual, pg. 28
  3. Well, it's a shame he made such a dramatic video just to be wrong... This setting does not affect the internal sample rate of the effects and amp models... It just set the sample rate for the S/PDIF and AES/EBU outputs. It's funny that he's claiming to hear a dramatic difference by changing this setting, because it would affect nothing while using the 4CM.
  4. My wife works for a large publicly-traded company (a Fortune 500 company, actually), and I know that she's very careful about what she talks about publicly. They are given very strict rules as to what they can mention on social media and whatnot. Basically, the only person she really tells information to about specific projects she's working on is me. The reason it becomes a legal issue is that people will interpret bits of information as ways to influence stock prices.
  5. Yep, just assign the appropriate MIDI CC to the Helix's tap tempo switch in the Command Center. I believe it's #64 from memory, but it's in the M5's manual.
  6. I can confirm this bug... Well, somewhat. It looks like what's happening is after you save a preset, the name of the preset displays the "WhoWatt100". The actual preset made is still loaded, but the title is wrong. If you switch to the next preset and back, the name will be correct with whatever name you just gave it.
  7. This is actually listed as a known issue in the release notes for the 1.02.2 firmware. I expect it will be taken care of soon.
  8. 1. Actually, the Axe FX II only has two processors as well. It's using two of the more expensive TigerSHARC chips as opposed to the Helix's two SHARC chips. The TigerSHARC is 600 Mhz, and the SHARC in the Helix is 450 Mhz. That doesn't really mean anything except that, yes, the TigerSHARC does have more DSP available than than the regular SHARC. I suspect that for the amp/cab modeling, a lot of the DSP in the Axe FX is used up by Fractals "Ultra Hi-Res" IR loading. Interestingly enough, the Fractal AX-8 will be using the same exact chip that's in the Helix. 2. The amp modeling on the Helix is completely new, and not simply an update of the HD modeling. The one kind of exception to that is new HD models that were released in the model packs. Those models were actually Helix models that were ported down to the HD. 3. Charlie is correct. The dynamic range isn't really about what the ear can perceive. It's about the fidelity available when recording and processing the signal.
  9. Here's a couple more I made last night. AC15 amp model with tape delay and hall reverb: https://soundcloud.com/phil-miller-20/ac15-tele-tape-delay JTV-69 acoustic clip using the Martin Parlor O-18 acoustic model https://soundcloud.com/phil-miller-20/fall-foliage-jtv-o-18
  10. Are you getting a signal from the mic through the Helix otherwise? Are you using a condensor that needs phantom power?
  11. Hmmm... I think the power cord is 6' or 8'. Not super long, but it's a standard IEC connection, so you could get any length you want really easily. As far as audio connections, I think all of my audio cables are 20' or 25'.
  12. Effects are greyed out when there isn't enough DSP available to load them. It seems like your presets probably have more stuff in them to begin with, those you can't load those particular effects. All the ones you list here would be more DSP intensive.
  13. When you say it froze, did the screen go blank, or did the unit just lock up?
  14. Hold FS5 + FS6 while booting up. You can also reset all the global settings by using the command in the global settings menu. Again, though, I don't think it's necessary.
  15. You shouldn't need to do the factory reset. It's not a bad idea to do the global settings reset, though.
  16. Yes, using both Path 1 and 2 you can do this. So you'd have 1A and 1B splitting and merging before the amp model, then set the output of Path 1 to be Path 2, and then split Path 2 into 2A and 2B, and merge them where you want to.
  17. It won't work. USB is a host/slave protocol, and both of the Helix and Amplifi are slave devices. They need to be connected to host to work properly.
  18. There is no way to make a USB connection between Helix and Amplifi.
  19. He's talking about the master volume control for the amp block, which is in with the DEP parameters on the HD series. On the Helix, these parameters aren't really considered "deep editing". They're just on the next page. I imagine a big reason the channel volume is on the first page has to do with the fact this kind of lines up with the way these parameters have been on virtually every other Line 6 device. I do think it's a good point regarding the interactivity of the drive and master volume control. I have no idea if Line 6 would consider making this sort of change or not.
  20. There should have been a thumb drive in the box with your Helix that has an electronic copy of the full manual. The VDI cable has always been something you have to buy extra with the Variax. At least with the JTV and Variax Standard, Line 6 includes the Workbench interface and the short cable to use with it. You could actually use that cable for the Helix, but I would highly recommend only using it at home. Using it anywhere will you'll be moving around will lead to bad things happening to the end without the additional collar.
  21. You probably want to go into the Amplifi's aux in from the Helix and bypass all the Amplifi's modeling altogether. That way you really just be using it as a power amp and FRFR speaker system. As far as how to get the signal from Helix to Amplifi, the quick and dirty way to do it would be to take a cable from the Helix's headphone output to the Amplifi's aux in.
  22. This may sound like a dumb question, but are you sure the wah block is on when you're changing the controller assignment? The on/off functionality would still be controlled by the toe switch, so if your volume pedal is working, perhaps you still had them both turned off and on by the toe switch?
  23. When you say path a and path b, do you mean one in each of the two main tone paths, or one in 1A and one in 1B? Two IRs at 2048 could take up something like 70% of the DSP of one processor, so, yeah, it's conceivable that trying to put two in Path 1 probably won't work. You should make it so your tone is spread out over both processors, and put some stuff in Path 1 (or 1A and 1B) and other in Path 2 (or 2A and 2B).
  24. I edited this post so the link is now in the body of the original post, and not in the thread title. Links don't work in thread titles.
