  1. There is no PC or Mac editor. You have to use the iOS or Android app.
  2. Yes, they do use identical processors and architecture... Perhaps you have the output modes on the two devices set differently?
  3. Yes, that was recorded direct from my Breedlove Oregon. It has a piezo pickup with an LR Baggs preamp. On it's own plugged in, it's passable or even good, but the IR file really opened it up. The IR is from a Taylor 314, and I got the file from here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1XgNa5vH3j1ZkVoTFJLQ241WTg/view That link was posted by someone over at The Gear Page a while ago. There's a bunch of different mics there. I used the Neumann U87 one.

    Helix issues

So you're saying that all the audio from the Saffire is dropping out when you have the Helix connected via SPDIF?
  5. There is no global function to do this. I think the thing is that since there are some many ways cab modeling can be used in a tone, there's no simple way to just turn them all off. You're probably best off making two sets of presets - one for going direct in, and one for using a traditional cab and power amp.
  6. There are no mono reverb models. As far as the delays, I don't know, that's weird. The stereo delays use more DSP than the mono ones, so I could see certain stereo ones being unavailable to you if you're coming close to the DSP ceiling. Are you sure you're not confusing the two? The multi-tap models, for instance, are only available in stereo. So if you're looking at the mono list, they wouldn't show up.
  7. I can't say I've noticed it with any of my patches. I've only really tried to isolate it once, though. I tried recording a patch change transition in Reaper to see how long the delay was, and playing it back, I don't hear a volume bump.
  8. It uses a scheme similar to the Boss GT-10 mentioned above - it maintains a reverb and/or delay tail buffer when going from preset to preset. Yet, if you read the forums, there are still people complaining about the switching time between presets. That's the thing - they're two different things. Even in there is spillover, it still takes some time for a new preset to load. So if you're counting on coming in on the downbeat of the 1 with a new sound, you still would have to take some amount of delay into account when changing presets, even if there was some sort of spillover. I think something like scenes functionality would be nice. I don't, however, expect Line 6 to simply copy Fractal's implementation. I think the thing that makes spillover between presets much more complicated on the Helix compared to some other units is the fact that there aren't dedicated delay and reverb slots in the Helix presets. A delay or reverb block can be anywhere in the signal chain, and there can be multiple instances. From a programming perspective, I can see why that would be more complicated. Perhaps there would be a way to tag certain blocks with a spillover parameter or something. But then you have the problem of what happens if you try to load a new preset where there isn't enough DSP capacity for the block to continue running... It's an interesting issue to solve.
  9. No problem. Setting the BPM manually like I mentioned above and saving the patch may give you a workable compromise, assuming you have tap tempo set per preset rather than globally. Other than that, I guess the other option is to simply have multiple delay blocks in your patch, and have one of them set to a specific millisecond value and the other set to a note value.
  10. That is per design, and that's the way it's always worked. I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. You can choose to set an exact millisecond value, or you can use a beat subdivision. If you want to save a preset where the delay is synced to a specific tempo, you can manually set the BPM by touching the tap footswitch (assuming you have the capacitive touch feature turned on).
  11. I think they were actually really surprised at the response. There really wasn't anything in a comparable price-point in the mainstream modeling market, so I think they wanted to see how response would be. From what I've heard it's far exceeded even their most optimistic expectations. So even though it does suck that some people are having to wait, I think ultimately it will mean better things for owners down the road. Line 6 is certainly going to have strong incentive to continue to put resources into the product.
  12. I'm not following... What are you saying is stupid? What behavior are you wanting to see, exactly? You can certainly keep your guitar path in stereo and have the bass be mono. The summing functions on the 1/4" and XLR outs are independent of each of other.
  13. Do you have the output mode switch on the back set to Line?
  14. If you're using a Windows machine, you need to install the Helix drivers before the Updater can see it. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/effects-controllers/helix/how-to-update-the-helixs-firmware-r776
  15. Monkey doesn't support Helix. You need to download the application called Line 6 Updater.
  16. I took some to test this out using my Egnater Renegade and my DT25. With a TRS cable plugged into the relay out and two external expression pedals, I did notice that the max on the expression pedal was 97 or 98% with Renegade, but that was only if the tip relay was activated. So when I was on the Renegade's clean channel, the sweep went to 100%, but on the gain channel, it had the reduced sweep. I tried this both connected via the 4CM and going straight into the amp. The 4CM didn't make any difference. The behavior was consistent across all three expression pedals (which makes it somewhat hard for me to believe it's a hardware issue, given that the external pedals are potentiometer-based and the on-board one is optical). With the DT25, it gave me the reduced sweep on both channels. Again, it only was with the relay controlled by the tip. The ring relay didn't change anything. And, like I said, it was a reduction to 97 or 98%, not nearly as big as the reduction you guys are noticing with the Friedman amps. After all that, I decided to save my patch and cycle the Helix on and off. I wanted to see if the pedals just needed recalibrated. As it turns out, that seemed to do the trick. After power cycling, I had the full range of all pedals again, and even after hitting the relay I still did. The one thing I did notice was that after I hit the relay switch, the max value would jump down to 98% (if I was at 100% already). But moving the pedal again would give me back the full range.
  17. You can customize a label for a footswitch being used as a controller without assigning on/off control to it. You change the label by going into the Command Center (see pg 37-39 of the manual). Regarding the outputs, if you're using just one of the 1/4" or XLR outs, the Helix automatically sums to mono.
  18. If you're using actual stage monitors that you're close to, you don't really need to emulate feedback. You can produce it just like you can with a guitar amp. Point your pickups at the monitor and squeal away. Of course, it depends on you having adequate volume to do it, but in a typical band scenario, it should still work.
  19. The Line 6 Updater is pretty much Monkey 2.0. I don't think any new products Line 6 comes out with from this point on are going to be using Monkey. The thing that I appreciate about the Updater is that the program itself doesn't have to be updated whenever there's a firmware update.

    FW 1.04 info

That was some other member on TGP, and I'm not sure how he's claiming to have this info... DI never really made any such promise. Not that new things aren't coming down the pike, but don't want to get the rumor mill unnecessarily heated up.
  21. The input impedance should actually have less of an effect with things like active pickups and acoustic guitar preamps simply because you're not experience the same sort of loading you do with passive magnetic pickups. The level from an acoustic preamp is going to be pretty hot usually, so you may be better of just using the Helix's aux in, rather than the guitar in.
  22. The longest gap for a preset change isn't anywhere near 500ms. I believe even going from a pretty complex tone to another is something like 150ms, maybe a little higher, but not 500ms.
  23. I doubt this is actually a possibility. Each chip has a certain number of audio ins and outs, and as it stands right now there are ways to link the two together, but what isn't possible is having the signal path split in some fashion. I just don't think it's a possibility, otherwise I'd have to believe they'd be doing it. It's worth noting that the Fractal AX8 board is using these exact same chips, also in a dual configuration. In Fractal's case, though, they have dedicate one chip to effects and the other to amp and cab/IR modeling. So compared to that, the Helix offers a ton more flexibility.
