Searched high and low. Why are some amps placed in the middle? Others right at the beginning? Tried to move some Custometone patch amps in the chain, but they don't go anywhere. Can this be done?

Line 6 can shove it. I’ve just hit this wall too. I shouldn’t have to be a Harvard IT specialist to use their product! They couldn’t give a toss! Mine isn’t the only comment and probably not the last. My Variax is up for sale

Mate, it’s something to do with Java. Also Line 6 not updating software. I’ve given up. Absolute disgrace. We’re not talking about ancient, but a product which is still in use. I have a Axe Fx 2 regular updates, sometimes too many! Was looking at Tyler Variax and Helix but they can shove it! It’s gonna be sold. I’m no slouch on IT and I have deleted, reinstalled, my laptop is exhausted! Cheers mate. If there was a link to bypassing the Java issue. They should at least inform us. Cheers though mate. Windows 10 but Line 6 stopped after Windows 8 apparently. This is the newest version. Cheers for reply though

After years away started using Variax again. Had to download Work Bench old version not the HD. I've hit the JAVA wall. It will not install. Java Envoiromental blah blah. I have uninstalled Java and Workbench and reinstalled and still no joy. Which Java do I need as 1.75 Workbench will load load with the recommended Java Runtime Environment 1.6. Any help please? Side note. Sick to death of the whole " Aint got the new version?" Tough attitude. Line 6 are obligated to offer support. It's how they sell it. My head it done today on this issue....

Crazy! Given up. Ignored the Update Flash message. Pulled out power and plugged in again expecting a dead unit. Not only did it start but the VARIAX setlist now shows. Plugged in. Guitar tones sound awesome without tweaking. Now gonna calibrate and not gonna update forever! Thanks bloke you’ve helped me twice now. Gotta be honest. It shows this pedal is dying. Forum help is non existent. People accuse Fractal of being fanboys but the Axe with constant updates keeps everyone on their toes. This was bought as an emergency in case Axe dies on me. Very grateful for your help mate

Fella I proper appreciate your help. I just tried. Holding LEFT arrow and then inserting power cable...over and over. It just showed my patches. Then searched and someone said RIGHT which I did. Low and behold restarted. Now staring at a screen for ten minutes which reads. UPDATE FLASH with nothing happening. Dude I had the HD500 with no issues. Fractal for last five, updates a dream. Had this two days and becoming a nightmare. Instructions even state HOLD LEFT with no effect. I’m proper lost. Starting to regret it. Irony is my Axe2 is sitting right beside the HD almost mocking me!

Updated mine today and saw that 64 presets were meant to be added. My user two has presets where it didn't before. Any idea? I've googled and searched on here. Keep seeing something about Global settings and recalibrating the pedal. But what's that gotta do with presets? Why have some added and rest in hyperspace? I'm sorry I'm a bit late to the party but last 5 years it's been the Fractal show... Trying again tomorrow

Well packed the AX2 away as my HD500x came today. Literally side by side took lead out of Ax2 and plonked into equivalent output on the HD. I was waiting for the jump for joy feeling as I still think the HD can be tweaked to near perfection, I'm not a Fractal fanboy. Hearing the chord. Gutted. Terrible, fizzy and either way to fizzy or boom bassy. I checked on forum and set output to Studio/Direct, aha I thought as it was set on combo. Not a bit of difference. I've read the whole unblance, balanced cable into QSC. Honest I've used one cable from the Ax2 to QSC beautifully. If I have to have miles of cable and loads of inputs I might as well send it back. Other thing I thought was. Fractal v HD500? I know as I own one but still had to tweak forever but as least the presets were pretty good. Sorry for moaning but I had a HD500 years ago maybe the difference is bigger than I thought. Next thing to try tomorrow is disable the cabs. I read somewhere not to use the cabs in patches with the QSC K12 is this correct? If thats the case I will be over the moon. Can't wait to get it going properly. PS I cant find the Loaded Bundle in the setlists. Unless owner deleted them. Thanks to you guys he gifted them to me, so maybe I have to load them in again

I’m back here after years away. I’m a Fractal man too but loved the HD500. Now have a 500x. If I was to Factory Reset. Would I lose the bundle purchased and loaded? Cheers for any help

Tell you what, I think I've just read the post of all posts from my Axe to my HD500 to GT100. I am as guilty as the rest, spot on mate, they are all great pieces of kit, our own ears and expectations are the things that don't match the product. Diamond comment, I might have to seal and use this on other forums..lol starting with myself!

Good luck mate, got both Ax and HD500. Both splendid kit, but heres the movie....I've gotten great tones outta both and total crap outta both. You'll tweak more like me, but presets out the box are amazing..then tweak...and tweak again..ha ha what I'm trying to say is, is that if EVH can still be tone chasing, then whatever gear we have the search is far from over. You'll love it mate, but be prepared for firmare update every two weeks. Btw the haters on here can suck! Don't be bitter...buy one.

My HD500 in storage at the moment whilst I trawl through the complexity and minefield of Ax Fx 2 but still love my HD500 to take to ggs where the beer and fights are flowing, still on here browsing to see when next update for HD500 is in. I salute you fella read your guide and saved on my phone too, alot of effort and trouble which the Ax could actually do with to tell you the truth. Many thanks mate

To be fair to the HD pricewise it's unbeatable for what it does, miles behind Axe or Kemper but fathoms in front of GT100 or RP1000, it's in a league of it's own, so no argument threr. Just wish Line 6 and Yamaha stop mucking about and create something new, not a budget priced toy, but something Alex Lifeson or Andy Summers would use onstage. Something that would kick Roland and Fractal in the butt, They have the resources so go get em! All competion is good, We would all only benefit from it.

No mate, I've got and use Variax and HD500, but scour the threads, plenty of people here slagging other products, if you own said product you tend to get defensive..I own an Axe 2 and seen plenty comparing the two, not worth the money, etc. It's all debate mate. Enjoy what you've got, if a thread upsets you, feel free to look at another. Paying customer of Line 6, Fractal, Gibson, Boss, Fender, Marshall,,,,

Just read this thread which started two years ago, makes me laugh, I have the HD500 as well as Axe 2, another setup is tarditional Marshall JMD with cab when I wanna get retro, but same as any forum people get so defensive and hostile when a member states they are selling up and going..ha ha kinda strange but people defend their own product and sometimes slate others without realising that it's the negative points that usually prompt change in the product, instead of people dropping onto their knees in gratitude for what the manufacturer has given them. I love all my gear and everything has its place, but bought the Axe too out of frustration with the HD which by the way was decades ahead of my GT10, but people on that forum got narked when I even mentioned the Line 6. There is a wishlist as long as the wall of China on the ideas forum, so obviously people want improvement, its people who take thie dollar eleswhere that make companies listen and make the changes, not the ones whose lip quivers every time someone has lost patience which a product which they also have. Lol the Axe forum is one such place btw..Peace

No offence mate, but you can't work because you have no gear? I always make sure if I sell anything I have backups so my bands bookings are safe. If you sell everything to start all over again this was always a possibility, good luck though dude
