If your using them for different scenarios, you can create set lists and just simply name them appropriately. ie I have my main set of patches, then a set list called "Power Amp". same set of patches I use for recording with the cabinet models disabled. So when I jam, just change the set list and the output mode.

It blends stuff and has reverb. What stuff, we will have to wait and see.

I purchased the HD500X pro and got exactly what was advertised, Nowhere did Line6 advertise that this unit came with any kind of advanced DSP over any of the other HD500 series. It's a pro unit primarily from it's rack mount factor(racked in a studio) and more I/O options. If you expected more , then you did not do your homework before purchasing. And who is going to be using this in a pro environment and be relying on it for it's reverb? (which really is completely comparable to any kind of guitar based reverb pedal, if not miles above them, excluding eventide style effects(which would cost you more then an entire HD500)

Eventide H9. Amazing pedal very versatile and really compliments the other effects in the HD500

Your better off with a 500 or 500X anyways, specifically for midi usage.

You can't go wrong with a piezo set-up,
-
Outside of installing a piezo pickup , Check out the patches already in the HD500, DI DREADNAUGHT Piezo Acoustic Wet Acoustic Solo Acoustic Direct Acoustic Steel Strings Nylon Strings Acoustic EQ Bright Acoustic Wide Acoustic Solo Acoustic 2 These are all under the Bass/ACO/Vocal Set list in the POD. They are not perfect, but will probably get you close to what your after so you can tweak from there.

Yes, the lack of a good ASIO device is your problem, The Delta 44 or any other decent pro grade card will fix you up. You can try asio4all for your internal realtek, but it probably wont help much.

Depends what you are looking for. Ideally you are blending 2 sounds to make 1 unique tone. My personal best result so far is blending a ENGL(ANGEL F-BALL) and Soldano (SLO100). Both panned hard left and right, 67 Condenser on the ENGL and a 421 Dynamic on the Soldano. The Engl model has all the meat and potatoes of a good high gain amp, The Soldano brings out the highs and blends in a bit of British crunch. The 2 together sound pretty awesome. I've used it live as well, I use a small behringer mixer to sum the stereo outputs to one mono output, I can still control the blend of the amps this way. I had used this setup with the real amps prior in a studio with great results and the HD500 does a bang up job or reproducing that tone. I've found though, if you blend the tones on the HD500 itself, it sounds like mush(panning both amps to centre internally in the POD). But great through the mixer.

You can always do a print screen of each individual patch.

You cant change Amplitube presets via USB from the HD500, The USB is for AUDIO only on the HD500. So you would need a separate Midi INPUT on your PC, from a Sound card, audio interface etc.. Then connect the MIDI OUT on the HD500 to the MIDI IN on your interface via a MIDI cable. From there you can map the midi output on the HD500 to match what is needed in Amplitube to change presets.

I agree completely, The HD is a lot closer to a real tube high gain then previous versions. Some good suggestions would be. 1. Get some play time in with a solid tube high gain amp. So you know what you are looking for. 2. Keep it simple. I respect what meambobbo and others have done. But I was able to nail the same tone from my very expensive ENGL preamp using only the AMP and Cabinet sims. No extra EQ's or fusing around needed. 3. Less gain is more. Particularly when you add volume. 4 Setup your tone in the same environment you are using it.

You can start guessing, but no one is going to provide a release date or announcement of product until it's ready to go. I would think the earliest you will here anything is the 2014 NAMM show. I think realistically the 2015 NAMM show.

It would be wonderful to have one box do it all..... I have an Eventide Space and Timefactor in the loop of my HD500, Sounds wonderful.. and spills over.. They have a new H9 pedal out , Worth looking into, Not super cheap, but worth every penny. Particularly if you are doing ambient music.

This is nothing but an small upgrade to their existing product as they can no longer purchase the DSP chips that were in the original HD 500's. I don't think they were looking to "fix" anything, they are simply continuing production of an existing line in a way that makes sense. Thus it being a 500X as opposed to a HD600 etc.. They will design new POD's and release them in good time. Delivering a rival product to an Axe FXII or Kemper sub $1000, would mean going out of business. Selling at a loss makes no sense what so ever to any business. Your more likely to see Fractal and Kemper looking to enter the $500 market , there is a lot more market there, but they would need to compete with Line6 then... The HD500 is already an exceptional value for what you get. Enjoy it for what it is, or just simply save your pennies and grab a Fractal, But they are certainly not without faults either.

It's already announced, it's on the front page, there's vids all over youtube for it now.

The HD 500 is gone from Musicians Friend as well. I would think we should be expecting an announcement soon!
