I too have the JTV 59 and have no problems controlling it from my Helix, including doing custom tunings. Not sure if this is a bug with the Helix software or is something unique to your situation.

I've expressed concern about this very subject here. I don't mean to come across as a negative Nellie but, I've had Line 6 products since the AxSys 2x12 amp and I believe the foot switches on the Helix are basically the same, circuit board mounted actuators that were in the AxSys floorboard years ago. I had to replace those back then and my HD500 and 500X both have the same problems (and the same type actuators). I'm really liking my Helix but, I worry that the foot switches will suffer the same fate as those just mentioned. I've even posted on ideascale (here) a request to implement automatic bank scrolling on the Helix just to help prolong the life of the switches! I will say that soldering new actuators in shouldn't be too big of a problem as long as they're easy to get to. I did it in the AxSys floorboard so hopefully the Helix won't be a big deal either. Very sorry to hear that you guys are having the issues already.

Finally installed my Glenn DeLaune screen protector and I highly recommend it! Fits nicely and is very clear. Easy to install too. For anyone about to get one, the protector is slightly larger than the Helix screen. This is nice because it gives you a bit of wiggle room when installing. You don't have to line up each edge perfectly with the screen. Great job Glenn!

Now that everyone's had more time with their Helix's, has anyone that uses theirs live found a need or desire to have autoscrolling on the bank up/down switches? I know from past experience with my POD 500X's that this would be a useful feature. I posted on IdeaScale a while back but wanted to bring it up again and hopefully get some more votes if anyone finds this feature useful. Please check it out! http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Automatic-Bank-Scrolling/787822-23508 Thanks! G-

Sorry mileskb for late reply! Been away from the forums for a few days. I have the L1 Model II with the ToneMatch and the bigger B2 sub. Our band has been using the Bose systems since 2004 and love them. We're a cover band that plays mostly classic rock but, we also do a lot of pop (dance-type stuff) and even heavier stuff like Metallica and Godsmack. With the original Bose PAS and the smaller, original B1 bass speakers the sound was good but, when the bigger B2 came out, boy howdy! A much fuller sound for my guitar. The band always got compliments on the overall sound from our four Bose systems but I very rarely got any compliments on my guitar tone until I started using the POD HD500X and the newer L1 Model II with the B2 sub. Now I get compliments on my tone fairly frequently! But, not so much on my playing ... :(. I can't wait to start using my Helix live! As far as drawbacks I really cannot think of any. We're able to play very small clubs to large ballrooms. We even play some outdoor events with ease but, if we ever had to play a really large outdoor festival, we'd need a bigger system. For example, we play annually for one of the local town's nearby for their Spring Concert series. It's outdoors and about 400 people. The audience is really spread out far to our left and right but, folks have told us that with the Bose, they're able to hear us clearly even sitting off to the far sides whereas with other bands the sound is muddy unless they're sitting more in front of the band. Hope that helps! Mike

Very nice! Thanks for posting. I actually prefer the solo tone of the first clip (the video clip), but helpful to hear the difference of the other settings and what IR's can do!

I could be completely wrong here but, it is my understanding that the Helix tries to replicate the sound of a mic'd cabinet. So to compare the Helix Mesa to your actual Mesa Dual Rectifier, I think you would have to mic up your Marshall 4x12 and record it. Then compare that recording to the Helix Mesa. Both being played back through your studio monitors or JBL pa. But to answer your question, I'm running mine through a Bose L1 system. :)

My ears are fatigued now because I've spent a few days straight converting my HD500X patches over to the Helix at gig volume. I've never been able to compensate eq'ing at lower volumes as spawn2031 does. I just can't seem to get it right.

Automatic Bank Scrolling If anyone, besides me, would find this a useful feature, please vote! I'm referring to continually pressing either the bank up or down buttons and have the banks scroll automatically instead of having to click the buttons for each up or down movement through the banks. I describe in my IdeaScale post why I think this is very important as I've had foot switches in past POD's go bad after playing many gigs on them. Thanks for reading! FWIW, I also tried preset Factory 2 -> 20B: SFX:Holkulani and was able to stay on it with no problems. I am going 1/4" out into a Bose L1 system.

I rebuilt the troubled patch from scratch and Wah and Volume work as intended (with Wah on Exp1 and Volume on Exp2). Even though I double-checked all my foot switch and controller assignments with the troubled patch, I could not find any reason as to why Wah and Volume would only work on Exp2 and Exp3. I can only assume that, not unlike computer programming, sometimes after too much editing and moving things around, something gets messed up and you have to just start over.

No sir, not a dumb question. But yes, I did make sure it is assigned to the toe switch and that I engaged it. So since I posted this, I made up a new patch with just a Wah block > Amp block > Volume pedal. This is working perfectly with the Wah on Exp1 and Volume on Exp2. For some reason, the patch I was having trouble with, which utilized an A/B switch to switch between two different amps, and all four paths (1A, 1B, 2A, and 2B) were also used, wouldn't work properly. I guess I should go back and rebuild this patch from scratch and see if it fixes anything. Thank you Phil for your reply!

Greetings everyone, I am having trouble getting my Wah and external volume pedal to work on Exp1 and Exp2 respectively. According to the manual, "Adding a Wah or Pitch Wham block automatically assigns it to be controlled by EXP 1." My Helix for some reason assigns the Wah to Exp 2. So when I add my Mission Engineering volume pedal to the Exp2 jack, it also controls my Wah block. I have to connect my volume pedal to Exp3 in order to have the Wah and volume work properly. Has anyone else experienced this? Am I hooking something up wrong? I cannot figure out how to make the Wah assigned to Exp 1, even though I've tried to assign it by going to Menu > Controller Assign and setting Controller to "Exp Pedal 1". The Wah will not work under Exp 1.

JazzInc, Very nice acoustic sound, and that's with no eq! Question, were you using an acoustic model on your variax along with the Taylor IR?
-
Great idea! Many times I could have used a feature like this. Voted.

Thanks Rewolf48! I did look there too. I finally had to contact support at ideascale and they got me connected. So I went ahead and made an entry. If anyone could use the bank auto-scroll feature please vote! IdeaScale: Bank Auto-Scroll Feature

Thank you DI. I am trying to sign up on Ideascale and for some reason it says it sends me a confirmation email but I never get one. I've of course double-checked my address and have tried resending my request several times but to no avail. Any thoughts from anyone?

My Helix does not automatically scroll through the banks when holding down the 'Up' or 'Down' bank buttons as does my HD 500X. Is this the same for everyone or a problem with just mine? Thanks and I hope I am not repeating this if already covered. Did not find anything on it via search. :)

Darrell, if you could be so kind as to share with us where one can get this Taylor IR it would be greatly appreciated! :D

Congrats to you audionutmike! I didn't get a call from my sales engineer but, I got an email! Mine ships today too from Sweetwater! For anyone wondering, I ordered mine back on July 13.

Thank you for this info phil_m and I sincerely hope Line 6 did somehow improve the switches. I hate to be a skeptic (All my gear is Line 6 so I'm not a hater) but, it still seems to me that the Helix/Firehawk switches are still ultimately activating the same circuit board mounted switch such as this: http://www.jaycar.co...Switch/p/SP0600 No matter how tough or heavy-duty they make the actual footswitch, the part that seems to go bad, at least for me, is the actuator mounted to the circuit board. This is the same part that was used in the original Vetta floorboard, the FBV. They may have gone with different manufacturers since then but, the concept has not changed. I really want to get the Helix but, I am a bit concerned over the design of the footswitch/actuator set up. I am not a professional but I do play in two bands and gig several times a month. I mentioned previously that I had to buy a second HD500X because the switches in my first one went out after about a year and a half. Before that, my HD500 also started exhibiting footswitch problems as well. For now, I'm trying very hard not to change patches as often during a show so as not to wear out the actuators! :D
