  1. On the POD units some effects can be stereo effects. So they might should a bit bigger ran in stereo. On the back of the POD you can output you have left and right output. If you use just the Left output then the POD will sum all the effects to Mono channel. Which works quite well and is fine. But IF you PA is setup Stereo, many I've seen are not, which I think is shame becuase it takes away possiblities for the artist. People running sound like to run mono becuase well it's a lot easier and it still sound good, IMO not as good as it could, but mono does sound fine. So if you KNOW you going into a PA that is setup Stereo you can run the left and right output from the POD to yoru board. Then at the mixing board you typcially have two options, many boards have a couple of Stereo channels for effects and the like, you can hook the left and right from the POD on of those. Second option is to hook each left and right from the pod to normal mono channel strip. Then set the channel strip to match, so the right POD feed on the mixing board you pan hard right, left POD is panned hard left. No if you don't really care about the Stereo field so much, then just run the LEFT out of the POD to the mixing console into a normal channel strip. Set gain to approiate level so it's doesn't overshoot 0db, perferably a bit less like -6 db, just like you would a mic. Set EQ flat probalby best to let the POD EQ do there job. Only exception would be you could us the EQ on the board as sort of Global, so say you think all you patches in the particular venue sound a bit boomy then on the mixing console you might cut the bass just a touch. But I would only use the EQ on when necassary. Think about the most noticeable of the Stereo effects would be a ping-pong delay, where you have the delay bounce from the left field then right, then left , etc... until if fade out. So if you sum that to mono, it still works to give you intersting delay but you don't really have the ping-pong going on, just some intresting repeats. Can be a suble or pronouced as you like with Stereo field setup. If you plugging into a say a house system, then I honestly would just give the a left output and not worry about it. Too much information I would need to know and have a lot of confience in there sound crews ability. Most dives I play in either don't have a PA or the house PA system are not really good and not ran the most trained people.
  2. I'm not a Vox type of guy, althought I do use the top boost model sometimes. My understanding is the Fawn model did not have the treble booster the top boost did, therefore sounded a bit differnet. These are models of two different amps from Vox.
  3. If you can run it into a Stereo channel or two channels run hard left and hard right, and the PA is Stereo, you can have some fun with the Stereo field. If not then run it into a channel, set the eq on the channel flat. Adjust the channel gain to appropiate, remember you the Master on the X3 can lower the input signal if needed.
  4. The HD500x doesn't support the older Variaxs for pass thought to Workbench. You will have to either get a USB connector for Variax or get an older device. The X3, and HD500 support the connection. All other function with the older Variax does work.
  5. Yea, it's not an option on the HD either.
  6. Other than tapping it down. I don't think there is.
  7. True, but the "Pre" version for just the pre-amp modelling of the amp in question. But as always there are really no rules when it comes to which to use where, brought it up just because of intented usage. But what ever makes it work for each is perfectly valid.
  8. Worth a shot. I can unbolt this version so it removes everything and see.
  9. https://soundcloud.com/dan-nobles-2/variaxissueOkay, I probably should have detected this earlier. I swear this was not this way when I got the guitar. But I've already added a Backbox Trem stablizer and had some fret work done to correct 2 high frets, so sending the guitar back to Sweetwater is not really and option now. https://soundcloud.com/dan-nobles-2/variaxissue (sorry couldn't figure out how to embeed it on the forum) It seems to be most present on the Semi model. On some like the Lester you can't hear it at all or very little. The clip has some other strings around it. Play any fret on that string and it goes away. Driving me crazy, it's the only thing on the guitar that bugs me. Bad Peizo? Something binding or rattling? On mags there is nothing, sounds perfect.
  10. ah... I've only been 2.0 on mine. Good to know though.

    delete

+1. Tip: Go to a entrythat is "New Tone" when inside HD Edit. Save that to your Hard Drive as "NewTone" or something of the sort. Then when you want to delete something just load it.
  12. Good ole "UnDocumented Features"........ otherwise known as bugs we don't wanna fix.
  13. I won't be home for a good while before I confirm but I if remember correct it does remeber the last used settings, I remeber having to reset some after playing around a bit with the settings and throwing them off. So say I'm on Channel A and I set topology II to Class A. Then change the topology to I. When I went back to Topology II woudl be Class A still.
  14. I'm just going to take a guess here and think L6 was likely just getting it out as soon as possible. They don't have any manuals etc... on the new bundles yet so it supports the idea just trying to get it to market as quickly as possible. I'm the lucky one this time with 500x and yea I got my bundles, but I've been in your boat before with the older hardware. Probably will be there again after a while.

    Why Global EQ?

lol. You and me are in the same boat! I would love to have sound guy at every show and play shows for millions of dollars, but that just ain't my reality. So I keep playing for Gas, Beer, and just the love of performing.

    Why Global EQ?

It's just not always and option for all of us, no sound guy means you have to run sound off stage. You do the best you can to sound check it and set the best you can. For me nothing just replaces the sound of tube amp behind me. The POD via the PA is good option and close but not quite the same. That's the main reason I got the DT amp along with my POD, just gotta have some tubes. Maybe it's just in my head but it makes me happy.
  17. oh... just assumed..... usually what gets me into trouble! lol. posted the question on the youtube comments instead.
  18. Thanks for the clip. what OD model you use and what settings on it?
  19. Question: I've been working over on my effects setups and the one thing on the POD is the number of parameter controls. On old school pedals sometimes you just had a couple of knobs. While the POD gives me options to create something truely individual and tweak it (that I love) but it can be sometimes difficult to map to the original if I just want a the effect the way it was. So right now playing with the Unvibe. The original controls: Volume Switch for Vibrato or Chorus Intenstiy Speed - w/ the foot pedal Pod: Tempo Sync (great way for setting speed to original, get this one) Speed Depth Feedback Volsns Mix. So: Original -> Pod Speed -> Speed Intensity -> Depth Volume -> ? I assume the POD is just voiced to the "Chorus" switch, it has other dedicated Vibrato effects. Okay. I know what Feedback does. I can assume the default way it loads in would be the setting to the original Univibe. What is Volume Sensitivity? Does that match to Volume on the Univibe? I see it meantioned in the manuals but not really what it does. Or does Mix match to Volume knob on the pedal? Am I missing something in the manuals on matching up the knobs on the original pedals to the parameters on the POD.
  20. The "Pad" is a swtich on the Physical board itself, pretty sure it right below the guitar input on the board itself. If you have the Pad on it lowers the input from the guitar itself. Typically used for very high output sources where they could cause clipping of the A/D converter.
  21. and your code never has any bug in it? Most of us just Line 6 Monkey for these. Works great, no website navigation to deal with. Just tells me the update is available and I hit apply and hope I don't lose power in the house or something stupid to ruin my day.
  22. Just to clarify. The point is unless you using L6 Link to a DT amp you DON"T want to use the "Pre" ones.
  23. The "pre" entries come after the standard ones. They are the same but the name as "pre" on the end.
  24. +1 the volume level seemed low on that one. I added a Stuido EQ after the Amp and pulled up the gain. Have not had the oppetunity to bring over the DT to see what I can do there. I thought sounded pretty good, even if I had to bump the volume up.
