Yes the is a "pre" model and normal one on that one. Althought still not sure if that will help.

v2.6 is here! Global EQ is not?
Palico replied to Matt_Brown's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
Find a way or an option. What about an option to disable to looper or even a give up a block for the L6 users? At least then it's available. Now if I setup a patch with basic overdrive and one amp. I have plenty of DSP left. But no option for the global EQ. I fully understand limiations of the hardware and platform. The POD itself has a lot of options and is setup around the concept that I can build a patch so complicated it can run it out DSP. Seems these some alternative of a trade off would have made it. -
Yea I had to cycle the HD like 3 times during various updates and unhook the USB on one of them. No Crashes but I'm Windows 7. The Mac crashed and Windows didn't? There is something different! LOL.

hmmm I guess I would have to hear you setup to figured that one out. As phil_m pointed out the physical drive knob position is meaningless unless you move it. It seem to have pretty decent amount of distrotion for me when I have the amp model drive dimed, but I supposed everyones idea of how much to expect could be different. How is you guitar volume knob set? or a volume pedal if in front of the amp. If set low most good amps will clean up (lower distrotion) considerbly. Are you using the normal model or the "pre" model? The "pre" models are setup for use with the DT series amplifers over the L6 link. The one without the "pre" on the end would be what to use with most other setups. The Topology, class etc... are setting if you using the L6 Link with a DT amp. It changes the physical tube configuration on those amps.

Yep I with you on this one. The Dream rig is sold mainly for a live use situations. The place a global EQ is mostly needed is in Live usage, but due spaces limitations etc.... it's not available for the flagship configuration. While it great to see Line 6 listened to the users and tried to find a way to shoe horn global EQ into it, it's real shame someone made the decision to move forward without finding a solution to the problem of it with L6 Link -
Not sure which Drive you mean here? If you have the "Drive" on the amp model low it will not produce much distortion. That is true for all of them. Of course with a overdrive or distortion pedal you can still get some great tones. Did you check the Master in the DEP parameters, honestly don't remember the default on it. But that has effect as well. I played with this one last night a bit and to my ears it was not as much gain as the X3 model of the 5150 but still had a lot. I thought it did have excellent note definition. It was not exactly what I had hope for with on my setup, but still a one I'll likely use, even if I have push the pre amp pretty hard with a overdrive on the mags on my JTV.

For those waiting to make the jump or looking to see the problems. I updated last night and purchased the fully loaded bundle. All updates and installs for me went smoothly. The new amps sound pretty good to my ears. Some outstanding and some well okay but I didn't get a chance to play with them too much yet. Really looking forward to saving off my set list as a back up and reseting my mind. Time to rebuild from the ground up on how I use my Dream Rig and using the the POD directly for practice recording too. With the new amps it seems like a good time to reexame my patches.

The left XLR on the POD HD500x is NOT mono. The left 1/4 output is. As Spaceatl also stated if all the effects in the patch are mono then technially there is only a mono output anyway.

+1. Yes the same thing does very much apply to the sticky patch videos! Tryed that the first time on those and did not get the same tones but like always in the ball park just some tweaking to get something good. The L6 models in the pack are some of the popular old tones from the older units. They were some L6 attempting a mixing matching certian preamps and poweramps they thought created some goodness. I beleive some of them were so requested by users to come back that well they did.

oh well just a thought for L6.
-
Also the Global EQ in firmware 2.6 on POD HD500x does not apply to the L6 link, so its not as useful to the DT.
-
For StageSource maybe for the DT the patch changes the EQ settings on the amp too so no go. Yea well FW 2.6 won't help any DT users. Just a thought for future FW. The looper is on every track and not all that useful. I could deal with swapping out the lopper for global EQ, if you needed extra DSP on the POD for it.
-
uggg.... that SUCKS! The L6 link is typically used mostly for LIVE use and the global EQ is really only useful for LIVE use. Please let us know if you can confirm. For the Dream rig that makes global EQ completely useless. Guess time to get a EQ pedal to put in the DT effects loop for global EQ.

I use both regular guitars and Variax. I find Input 1: Gutiar & Variax. Input 2: Aux. to work quite well for me. The point just to set input 2 to something I'm not using. I do have old EH Switch blade I hook up the guitar side to function as mute button though. When I play the guitar on the Variax I just roll the volume knob on the Variax itself all the way down. And ANY mutli-effect system is hard to use if you don't understand how to use and order the effects chain and the differneces in Amp/cab and mics. Just like using the originals.

There are a couple of videos on the sticky on the POD HD forums for the HD series on how to get some tones. Most of those are "Classic Rock" type of tones though, there was SRV one for the Blues group. Not my flavor but I notice a lot of comments on DJent type tones. A youtube on doing those might be a popular one.

Ugg.... I like the point of the article. But just the way it reads lets me know right of the bat, they stereo type of gear is just like the sterotyping of people. A great guitarst makes anything sound great. Great gear regardless of what it is doesn't make you great.

Which is the concept I work with today. However I'm using a Dream Rig. So if I want to adjust a EQ etc... on my DT the L6 link will take care of changing that on the patch that is until I change from say A to B. So If I want those I have to save it and make the exact same adjustment on A, B, C, D becuase A, B, C and D are not differnet "effect" scenes but completey differnet patches. Some times that is very useful but other times not as much. It does work and it's not deal killer or anything but it would be a nice to have thing.
-
I could see it being useful for orginaizational purposes if nothing else. Having a "effects scene" that is doesn't affect the amp settings could come in useful. Then I could have 1 patch that is decided amp setup but be able to pull in and out the effects I wanted with the settings without my amp having to change. Right now I use a Dream Rig setup and one of the annoyances is I have 4 different patches for what is basically one rig with different effects settings. And I need to change a setting on the amp, more bass etc... then I got to do it on all 4 patches and make sure I get it set at least close to the same on each.

The HD series requires a decent bit of knowledge to get working it's best. If you have strong graps of how to order pedals and how to use them and what charistic certian amps typically have then it's a wonderful devices and one of the best bang for buck devices around. But if you don't then the start up time might be a deal killer. For what your describling you might take a look at the Amplfi series of products. They not quite as high end but are supposedly setup for practicing. I image they would record well, I don't have one so I don't know. Good bit cheaper that the HDs as well.

Anyway to adjust Piezo sensitivity ?
Palico replied to Palico's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Thanks! I will give this one try next week after I get it setup to get rid of any fret buzz. -
Look up the common ways analog pedals were orderd and typicall setting. Setup the amps and effects etc.. the same way. Then tweak it a bit or a lot to fit your needs.

Anyway to adjust Piezo sensitivity ?
Palico replied to Palico's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Not sure what you are asking here? On the 89f whe you hook up to the workbench, the custom banks contains some various models, all standard ones. A couple of them with different tunings. What I noticed was the 1.9 firmware didnt' sound real thin and minmized some of the quikerness with the peizos. This got me to thinking some of harsh sound I don't like might be the Pieozos are real senstive to any minor sting rattle. Next week I'll get the guitar out to a luither to fix the string rattle but just wondering if the peizo senstivty could be reduced via workbench. Hope I really don't need to stay with 1.9 as I like Workbench HD but 2.0 and 2.10 but both sound pretty bad right now. Maybe the setup will get the string ringing cleaner and 2.10 will sound better. dunno. -

What setting in Workbench are available for this? The string volume and Global? Overall I would hate to turn down the globals as the difference between Mags and Models on the 89f is pretty big difference already. -
Working with adjusting some things on my JTV last night. I know I have some fret buzz etc.. that needs to get fixed causing some issues. But then out of kicks and Giggles I decided to roll back the Firmware to 1.90 just to see how it sounds. I dont' have anything really setup yet so nothing really to lose. Most of the problems when away and the modeling actually sounded better to me. Some of the fret rattle is still there but it's not as big of a deal. It got me to thinking the problem with 2.10 might just be it's picking up a bit TOO much on what the Peizos are reporting. Is there anyway to adjust the sensitivity of them? I know you can adjust the volume but low volume thin sound is just as bad, just quiter. I like to use the Workbench HD, but would rather have the modelling sound good instead really thin and piercing like it does in 2.10.
