  1. You can fix that easy though, throw a clean boost pedal in front the amp you using, leave it own all the time. Instant hot single coil pickups. Okay not exactly the same but it might get you in the ball park you looking for.
  2. After checking the items that Triyche meantion. I think there is boost feature in the ASIO control panel. Just pull up the Line 6 folder and look for the driver information. Also in Gearbox there is a level knob at the top to send more signal. Make sure you using the meters in the DAW to see the actual input to the DAW not your headphones. The level could be low in the headphones in clipping in the DAW. Make sure the DAW level is right and turn up the headphones to comfortable level if needed. Also check make sure you have setup to use hardware monitoring on the DAW to avoid latency.
  3. Don't think anyone could blame you on that one. Too many good amps out there to sink tones on money into a unrelaiable one. So far other than bad tube my DT25 has been great but if it was start doing stuff like that, I would be looking to replace it pronto.
  4. No sure what you mean by "live A and B". Input signal should be around 0.0 db. But some like to run it less like -6 db. For sure don't want it over 0.0 db or at least not often over it. On the output from the mixer to power amps, in ears etc... that's all in the mixing but most try to keep it @ max of 0.0db. with maybe a occasional overage.
  5. If you use both XLR sides, Pan the mixer to the approriate side it's connected to on the POD, If using the a single 1/4 output, pan straight up and down. On DB just make sure you don't overdrive the mixer input. If necassary you can lower the "Master" knob on the POD to scale back the input some. But only do that as a last resort. EQ straight up and down.
  6. They way the manual read would support that Theory, but since I could see that Line 6 would not want to build a solid state side and tube side, I will assume you are correct, it seems resonable. Either way, yes on the OP some for sure really wrong.
  7. I could see the tubes being used some, but the just a change from the PRE to FULL alone is not correct either, if use the HD500 to set to the FULL it doesn't lower the volume. So while the tubes may be used *some* in lower power mode you are not using them very much hence the need for the FULL model.
  8. No but in low power mode you are not use the Tube section, you basicaly using the modelling. So I'm thinking this ain't good news. I would open a ticket proto.
  9. Given that you likely will not get two channels or have much knowledge on how the PA is setup. So unless you can use option 3 with satisfactory results I would go with Option 1, same as Silverhead meantioed. While it's not analog, I'm kind of with on analog, I use a dream rig for simple purpose I have to have real tube in the mix somewhere, but the POD HD is really good and lot of people get good results, it will for sure get you close. The only posible problem is signal loss if you are across as snake where you might have 50 run or more on in. Then I might try to setup my patches to be all mono, either not using any Stereo effects or putting the POD noise gate at the end just becuase it sum to mono. Or using a the 1/4 out (will sum to mono automaticly) or using a DI so the chord length to the mixer problem could be avoided.
  10. Option 1: Run LEFT 1/4 out on the POD to the mixer "line in". Dead Simple and will sound pretty good. No preamp need the POD outputs line level already (setable on the face of the unit). If you have long run on the 1/4 you might want to use DI here. The POD 1/4 left will sum any Stereo effects to mono. Option 2: Run LEFT XLR and RIGHT XLR out on the POD to a two channels on the mixer. Pan each channel on the mixer hard left and hard right appropiate to which side of the POD they are hooked to. Full Stereo if the PA is setup for full Stereo, great fun here. IF YOU ARE USING NO STEREO EFFECTS ON THE POD PATCH OR USE ONE LIKE THE NOISE GATE AT THE END OF THE PATCH TO SUM TO STEREO: Option 3: Run XLR LEFT out of POD to input on Mixer Channel strip. Option 4 (not really a POD one). Use isolation box with mic in off stage somewhere to mic your rig. Give the same low volume on stage and FOH control, but then you can use whatever produces the best tone for you. Option 5: (okay this is just me maybe not for everyone!). Tell Manager to shove it. I'm the talent not him, I will suceed or fail not him. So I should be able to decide what my tone is. It's the sound crews job to control feedback and volume levels.

    Pre Amps

You will need a power amp to run the POD into a Cab, unless the cab is active(powered) speaker. But yes as cruisinon2 said try and see.
  12. True, I think my test since I was getting a touch of signal all the way down, even with a normal Strat would be to use the alternate tunings using a standard cable instead of the VDI. That way if I'm on the Variax side that is all that should be being sent to the POD. Unfortunally I can't try right now, my JTV is in pieces waiting for a new peizo insert to come from GraphTech.
  13. Owning a DS-1, I would try the Line 6 Drive. A DS-1 can be picked up used for like $20 most of the time, you might want to just get a DS-1 to put in the effects loop or in-front of the POD. Then use one of the Vox amp sims.
  14. I've wonder about this one. My JTV seems to do this as well. It's not real noticable when you are just a semi-tone differnet but any further and it become a big problem. But I had my guitar setup recently by a local luither, yea new JTV and it had 3 high frets! Anyway this guys doesn't do the digital stuff but can really setup a guitar. I was showing him the Variax side and the alternate tunings using a small homebuild type of tweed amp in his shop, to my astonsiment the alternate tunings were dang near pefect on that rig. So I cam home and plug in and the Ghost notes are back! So I roll the amp channel volume all the way down and turn up my headphones. Sure enought I can still hear just a bit of mags, very faintly. So I plugged my my Strat, can I got the same thing, just a hint of the guitar when the volume is supposed to be all the way down. Thinking there has to something in the POD itself that is not turning all the way off when it's supposed to, been watching this tread about that. Gotta try setting the tuning on the patch so see if that solves it.

    Pre Amps

Those are the PreAmp only version of the HD model, they do not contain the power amp modelling. They are designed to work with the DT50/25 amps. Although like anything else they are there to play with any other setup and can be used with other setups, althought I'm not sure they will produce desireable results with others.
  16. Yea it is, but I had already installed Strap locks and the tremolo stablizer. No way to return it then. I think I have this figured out now, oversesite Peizo. Graph Tech is getting me a new one. So now just waiting for it to come in.
  17. Wonder if there is a solution to this one. When playing the JTV (89f) over the dream rig I seem to be getting some Ghost notes, which is kind of known thing. Well I took my JTV to a luither for some setup work. To test it out at his place we hooked into a old homebuilt Champ type amp. So I was showing him the detuning and Variax side of the guitar and there were no ghosting notes on the JTV, some that was odd to me as I just accepted it as a reality of the system that this can occur. But I it was perfect. Fast forward to now and I found my Ghost notes, it seems they are coming from the POD. Even when I turn the channel volume all the way down, I can hear just a hint of the guitar in it, checked with a Standard Strat and it's the same thing. So that makes sense that it's like I'm getting just a faint touch of the mags coming over. Any ideas on what on the rig can cause this?
  18. I called GraphTech today and they are getting me out a new insert on this. Hopefully this one will get it cleaned up. Gotta say GraphTech support was outstanding, answered my questions and even got me some instruction on how to handle the clasps on the clips to install it, for the part that is there side anyway.
  19. I've found the Pitch Glide can be a unpredicable beast myself, but the original one was too, even the mix control seems to not work logically. I mostly use it by putting it an seperate chain and set mix to 100 it works differnetly than putting inline with mix 50% although logically those should be the same. Like gunpointmetal said you can elemiate the pedal itself by putting on the onboard pedal.
  20. Likely the various Anti-virus programs might detect it because it's not a browser and it's making out-going request. So I could see how they might flag it. As moogary pointed out this is why the they have the exception list. I have a "K9 Parental" controls on my machine to keep the kidos from getting anything I don't want them to and I have put it into an "Admin" mode when running Monkey updates or it complains like crazy too.
  21. Sound like you like a lot of Bass in your sound. You might try using the Mesa Cab with the others. The Soldano for example the default cab model is a T75 which is a brighter cab. You might check out the greenbax 25 model as well as that is Darker cab, even with the DT and using Pre, the cab and mike model makes some difference. One trick I use to fatten up any tone, Put in a Chorus pedal post amp. Set the rate low. Now take the mix to zero and role it up just enough to fatten the tone. The idea is to try to get a bit of two tracked sound but not to get into the real "chorus" type of sound. I know Chorus not Typically thought of for Metal type of sound, but the idea here is to use just a touch of it.
  22. Folllow up. Remove the backbox. Still there. So I removed the saddle for the high E string and unhooked, then removed the saddle from the D string. Put the High E saddle on the D string (wrong string height but just to test it). Removed the problem. So the problem is the Peizo after all. I removed just the peizo and think I might have determied the root cause. That thing was tight as a ************ in there. I wonder if that was a contriubting factor. Any rate gotta call GraphTech and order new parts in the am. Playing it with the wrong saddle, the guitar is really nice. Hope to get this back together and re-setup soon.
  23. I would run the 1/4 Left out to the amp and the XLR left to to the mixer. I think you can use both at once on the X3, althought you might need to test that out to make sure. Of course you can still just mic the Amp old school style too.
  24. If you running Mono the LEFT on sums to mono on either the XLR and 1/4' out on the X3 (FYI for future reference or anyone reading this later, the HD series only sums on the 1/4 LEFT out). Only use the RIGHT if you using both.
