Hi everyone, so Ive been using the HD Pro X for a while, now every now & again If UI use HD edit or download presets the unit goes quiet, the computer blue screens & then this almighty Buzz is sent to the pod & out of the speakers. The sound just sounds like a ships horn if that makes sense. I immediately have to shut the speakers down. Anyone else have this problem. Thanks for any response

So This USB Issue seems to be a regular common thing and pretty surprised there,s never been a recall to solve the problem. Just priced up today for the UK Tech team and for a supply and fit of power supply & the usb socket and controller module is best part of £200 if this is the problem i.e Boards gone bye bye. So as it seems to be when the unit is warm/hot i`m going to custom build my HD Pro X by stripping the case and building into a gator case with 4 silent running gamers fans from a computer poss on constant run, hopefully make it stable. & sorry for the rocking horse lollipop comments didnt realise you couldnt say poop & A -1 Neutral is that supposed to be a like. Again a common issue which seems to have made the HD range the noose around Line 6 neck.

So still no Further myself TBH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! flashed it went back to factory reset, uploaded all my set lists, worked great for about a month then back to been a sack of lollipop. Ran all the flash tests the flash & sd passed. According to line 6 techs it needs a new board thats without even looking at it & as rare as rocking horse lollipop, I have the rocking horse lollipop my guitars plugged into it. so whats happening, well error8000000a, also error had to rename the patches, error on flash cant find the device after it was connected to it turns on and off & when I say that I mean the logo reflashes. Line 6 Get your acts together wether these are the cost of axe fx or a bottle of beer these are your product & x amount of buyers are been screwed over. sort it out son

It was bought as a gift all boxed etc I assume it was.

It's out of warrantyour so.not alot I can do is there.. stuck with a lemon

I`ve had it over due on the Guarantee tbh & i`m not the only 1 with these bugs.. As far as Units go I love it, yep would Love the Axe FX but I`d even go for the Helix But the funds wouldn`t go that far

I`m on a rant now.. I`m going to speak to Trading Standards tomorrow as the HD Units aren`t fit for purpose or Use. After repeatedly getting the error 8000000a code I reinstalled the edit software.. nothing same again so hooked up line 6 monkey to reinstall the firmware now got code that usb not connected please try again meanwhile my HD Pro X now wont moved off updating flash.. The Ghost in the machine has well and truly F*&ked up.. Thanks alot Line 6. These units were made before Helix as a Pro Rig no matter of the price tag, they are supposed to work !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it's time I went to trading standards as these units aren't fit for purpose. I don't think there will be a fix mate there's so many other users with the same problem. It's just a case of global reset and start again.it's certain presets so I'm going to painstakingly have to go through everyone.. I'll keep you updated

3 computers and 5 USB cables later I get the Problemost as a lot of other users. Is anyone else also experiencing the HD disconnecting from usb and restarting. Ive done a global reset a number of times and seems to sort itself out until i start esiting again. spoke to L6 Germany and they didn't have a clue spoke to the Repair team in Manchester UK and what I got was of the problem is your units knackered needs a new board and you've more chance of buying a new unit then you have board and the costs over £200 for the repair. Come on line 6 get your act together we've paid good money for these machines yes Helix is newer and better but some of us can't afford to upgrade.. sort the gremlins out

Thanks for that Guru. I know about the Line level. I`ll try the EQ at the end of the chain. I used the FX loop and used my Oberheim as an extra filter but may look at some kind of booster.

I 1st started with line 6 Over a decade ago with the XT Live Running through a Randall RH100 head with Marshall JCM800 Lead cab. The rig was loud. I bought the HD500 a couple of years ago and ran it through the RH100 Head & RH100 G2 Heads through Marshall 4x12 again sounded good apart from a bit of digital hiss. I upgraded to the Pod HD Pro X last year and that,s when the problems started. I was advised to buy a power amp to eliminate Pre-amp to Pre-amp interference so that,s what I did. Sold the Randalls (Big Mistake) was told the best to buy was the Rocktron Velocity 300 which it isnt a bad rig apart from theres no guts in it when running the Pro X & there,s a lot of low volume tones which really need boosting. I was going to sell the power amp and buy 2 matching amp heads & cabs to get the sound back I used to have but before I thought I,d run a test. Tonight I ran the old XT Live through the rocktron and had to turn everything down. So the Problem is the Pro X is so Quiet so on the back of the XT theres a line/amp switch with a rear volume pin, is there something like this on the Pro X that i`m missing. I`ve played with the Destination settings wasnt too keen on the studio setting so ran it back to front power amp. So is there a rack booster I can buy to sit between the Power amp & the Pro X. I was going to ask If anyone had any Ideas for best suitable power amp or amp head but more so Whats the best Cab combo out there. I would eventually move upto the Helix but its a long way off. I need to sort the output source 1st. So any advice would be helpful.. Cheers

You know something Cruisinon2 Thats a great answer & tbh I think you,ve kinda hit the nail on the head. I use the old oberheim GM1000 as extras I`ve just added a 10 band eq in loop mode after the mixer put a bit more bass on as an outside source scooped the mids & its built up.. :)

What would help guys is whats the best amp/power amp to use with what speakers to get the fuller sound, tbh its sounds tinny what ever I do & although some youtube vids are studio recorded some guys post there settings which sounds more like a sufers tone when the tracks hard rock or metal.. Samples of what I don`t sound like

I have been playing with all the bits Different parameters etc thats all I`ve done for months lol copied tones watched youtube tutorials adjusted to my set up but the sounds sound nothing like what the tracks do & yes I know most play throughs are studio recorded but some don`t even cut close. Just not on the understanding of a non standard input its a guitar pick ups wood etc lol not a kitten .. The footware gag was what the floorboard is at the mo. I`m not a troll or an eejut just someone tyring to get the damn thing doing what its supposed to be doing lol. Lee thanks again for your comment & Gear Head. I know line 6 are the budget muzos gear comparing price to kempers & axe fx but if something says pro you`re hoping for something like, just seems like a bit of misrepresentation. Its like me saying I`m a pro decorator but can only paint.. uh oh that is me lol

Heres my set up, Pro x rack running into a power amp Rocktron Velocity 300 stereo into Marshall JCM 800 Laed 4x12. My pick ups vary from 81/85... Super Distortion and 7 string emg think 707 or 727 Whats the setting on the edit it should be on but also the bios in the rack e.g Studio/ front stack / combo etc input i source input 2 source on the edit.. Please

Cheers for reading, The Tread seems to be the main culprit for the noise, Because I play more hair metal & a bit of metal I didn,t notice the fault too much but the thing is on certain amps it does turn the guitar into picking everything up. I`ve solved most of that now. I try other amps, I think part of what it is I now use a power amp to cut out doubling up on pre amps & the room I keep my gear in is now in my new house so I know theres alot to do with change of acoustic. So after alot of Gasps & trying other amps which I do, I every now and again might want to use an ear searing Tread Its there purchased its there for me to use. My combos are either 81/85 or Dims super Ds. If you guys have any settings that you can post here That comes close Hey drop em by, stop for tea ;).. Thanks again guys P.S My playing is like les dawson playing piano so that might have something to do with it.

So here goes, I`ve been a long user of Line 6 footware & always loved it using the modellers to the XT Live, HD500 & Now the Pro X Rack. I used to run through 2 Randall RH heads but started to get a god awful noise (digital artifact) so I sold the heads & got a pre ampless power amp. The Hiss/Fizz whatever you want to call it went but !! on the Treadplate settings there was a bad springy type reverb after palm mutting. It`s taken test after test to get rid of this & I did ..No lollipop Sherlock. The Treadplate is that sensitive or powerful it turned my guitars especially with active pups into a giant Microphone. So all the springs had to go from the pick ups to be replaced with surgical tubing which you can buy fromWD Music Products (pick up tubing mounts) for the hassle they`re cheap.. & After eagerly powering up it was still there this springy reverb noise but not as much so & added some dampeners to my floyd rose springs (Tissue) and it was still there. End diagnosis it was the strings from the headstock to the tunes so they had to be muffled with electric tape but you can use bandage socks scrunchies.. anything to stop the ring. & all sounds now eliminated but your guitar does start to look like a mummy.. All for the sake of using a treadplate. Soooooo 3 months later after I finished dicking around trying to get rid of this """digital artifact""" which infact was guitar noise not the HD but caused by the HD I decided to set up My HD Pro x for some Zakk Wilde sounds & TBH its more of a Zakk not so Wilde Everything just sounds week & not even close to the sound you`re trying to put down . The Sound just isn`t there.. Like I said I loved Line 6 but I don`t know now. Every processor you see is tested through a digital remastered recording wether its Line 6, Kemper, Or Axe FX. I think my way forward is loosing the Pro X & everything Else & trying out a powered Kemper. So I`ll keep you posted on my Decree Absolute.. !!

Got an fbv shortboard mkII today. Rigged it to the Pod HD Pro X, well calibrated it first. Set it with the ethernet cable, boards powered but only shoring FBV SB MKII nothing else how do I get it to work with the unit as a foot switch & in simple terms. Wish I`d have just stayed with the HD500 now

Hi I've seen this a number of times. I'm trying to use my hd500 as a temp footconroller for my pro x. How's it set up to get the wah and volume pedal used and for the display screen to mirror the screen on the x. Cheers

Cheers for responses guys. Seems to have sorted itself, was advised to update graphics drivers too. Just seems to be a ghost in the machine lol. Thanks again

Had the HD500 for a while now, had no problems but now when I use the wah pedal I`m getting lines across my main monitor on computer when running 500 edit. Checked graph card doesn`t need updating. Has anyone else ran into this.

I sometimes run my old XT through the HD500 for extra sounds but also prefer some of the drives & distortions in the XT. Apart from running from stereo outputs into the 500 Is there any other way to rig these two up so theres no signal or drive/sustain loss, Obvious one would be Pre the other post. Cheers for any advice.
