Here's what the v2.71 release notes say: Bug Fixes - On some occasions, multiple Delay block parameters would not be controlled properly when set to a footswitch - FIXED - Other bug fixes and improvements Unless you are bothered by this specific, or other unspecified, bugs there seems to be no benefit to upgrading to 2.71.

Question about activation code on a new PC:
silverhead replied to showmpiano's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
You will be able to use your new PC with no problem. Your Pod Farm License is associated with your Line 6 account. The Line 6 License Manager program mountains the association with specific PCs. All you will have to do is download and run the License Manager to authorize your new PC when you get it. -
Best gain setings L2T
silverhead replied to fullwedge's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
Not a dumb question at all. I tend to use what you call your typical approach. I run the mixer output at 'unity' gain - where the mixer's output level meters peak at roughly +3db or so, meaning the steady level is usually minus a few db. Then adjust the speaker (in this case your L2t) output level to suit the venue. -
Sorry - I misunderstood the architecture of the presets. I don't have the HX Stomp so can't be certain about giving detailed procedures for you. It sounds like snapshots would do what you want but perhaps there's a different way that another user can suggest here.
-
If you never want the delay on the Snapshot associated with FS1 you can simply turn the delay block off while that Snapshot is active and then resave the preset.

Selling Helix Stomp after Native Promotional Purchase
silverhead replied to Ecnarps's topic in Helix
True - but the purchaser will not be entitled to the discount. One discount per device. -
Selling Helix Stomp after Native Promotional Purchase
silverhead replied to Ecnarps's topic in Helix
Well, not according to the Line 6 policy on this. As phil_m stated, a returned (rather than resold) device within the 180-day window exposes the purchaser to a Helix Native license revocation. Whether Line 6 chooses to do that is another matter but they certainly have the right to revoke. -
You must be using a very old version of the editor, which was named simply Helix. The current editor is a program called HX Edit; the latest release is v2.71. I suggest you use it, which also requires you to use the latest version of the Helix firmware - also v2.71. To upgrade everything: - use the skinny window in your current editor to make backups of any presets or setlists that you want to continue to use. - download the HX Edit v2.71 software from the downloads page of this website. - run the downloaded file which is an installer file. It will install the latest versions of the HX Edit program, the driver, and the Line 6 Updater program. - run the Line 6 Updater program and follow the on-screen instructions to update the Helix firmware. - reload your saved setlists/presets using HX Edit

Selling Helix Stomp after Native Promotional Purchase
silverhead replied to Ecnarps's topic in Helix
Similar question from some time ago..... -
Any High impedance headphone is recommended. Here's the snip from the manual: NOTE: Helix provides plenty of gain for high impedance headphones. With lower impedance headphones, you may notice a bit of distortion if the PHONES knob is turned all the way up. This is normal. .... which begs the question... "What is high impedance?" In most cases high impedance headphones are marketed as such. I expect google will give you a range. In fact it may give you several ranges...... That's the beauty of standards - there are so many to choose from :-)

Best config for 6 XD-V75 units without XD-AD8
silverhead replied to Digitalman42's topic in XD-V Digital Wireless Microphones
fyi.... I know the published limit is 4 chained receivers. However I am chaining 5 XD-V75 receivers with a single pair of P180s and having no problems at all. Can you push it to 6? Don't know - but definitely worth a try. I have the receivers rack mounted and inside the rack I am using separately purchased 6" Line 6 LMR cables to chain the receivers rather than the supplied 18" (-ish) cables. This minimizes signal loss within the rack. I'm also using a pair of 25' (rather than 50' or 100') Line 6 LMR cables from P180s to the receiver rack. Depending on the stage/venue you can usually place the receiver rack within 25' of the P180s and use longer XLR cables to the stage patch/snake if necessary to minimize signal loss through the LMR cables. I have the P180 output boost set to minimum but I'm guessing that you could also boost this if necessary to feed the 6th receiver with a sufficiently strong signal. Yes - I am using RF2. I would experiment with this setup before purchasing an XD-AD8 or an additional pair of P180s. But to answer your question, I can see three alternatives: 1) an XD-AD8 with a single pair of P180s; 2) single pair of P180s and a 4/2 split in the receivers, with the 2 receivers fed by a single pair of the 1/2 wave antennas carefully placed for good reception; or 3) two pairs of P180s in a 3/3 split. Option 2 is likely the most cost effective but depends on effective placement of 1/2 wave antennas - a potential reliability risk. Options 1 and 3 are both very reliable with 3 probably being more cost effective unless you can get a good used XD-AD8. -
This is very true for me. I use presets and snapshots differently depending on the situation: 1) Cover songs where I'm looking for a very accurate tone. Here I typically will not use snapshots - just a highly customized and targeted preset where I use stomp switches to turn individual FX on/off. These presets will generally be pretty simple - relatively few FX and plenty of unused DSP but painstakingly tailored. The brief audio dropout when switching presets is not an issue because you're only doing it between songs. A preset is a song and named accordingly. 2) Artist-based situations where I do multiple songs of the same band/artist. Here I use the artist's name as the preset name and I set up the preset with the basic amp/cab that gets me the closest to the artist's basic tone. Then I add a variety of FX blocks, often a large number until little or no DSP is left, and I use snapshots to turn multiple things on/off together and control their parameters to reflect individual songs of the artist. Tweak till you drop, which normally happens before everything is exactly accurate but the audience really can't tell and doesn't care - close enough for rock and roll. In essence a snapshot is a song and named accordingly. I can still use the stomp/snapshot mode to turn individual FX on/off within the song. Great for playing artist medleys - no audio dropout during the transitions. 3) My own sound/tone. Here I will use a preset for a genre of tone (e.g. blues, rock, jazz, (never metal for me :-)....) and then use snapshots to flavour the tone within the genre (e.g. clean, crunch, lead, delay, mod ...). DSP utilization is highly variable between presets. Again I use the stomp/snapshot mode to turn individual FX on/off as desired. Works for me. YMMV. Edit: Credit where credit is due: I was first inspired to explore situations #2 and #3 above from some of our great preset creators like Glenn DeLaunne and Fremen. I know there are others but these two in particular provided great examples of preset architecture for the above situations. I've adapted their models for my own purposes. You can find their stuff in the Promote Your Patches sub-forum.

Any indication on the status of the spring 2019 update
silverhead replied to Evan329's topic in Helix
Hmmm.... seems this is a duplicate thread. Here's the link to the original with my response. -
No additional mixer is required. Connect Helix to your computer via USB. It now becomes your computer's soundcard; this should be automatic but you may have to configure your computer's sound settings. Also configure GarageBand to use Helix as its audio input and output device. Connect your headphones to Helix.

Any indication on the status of the spring 2019 update
silverhead replied to Evan329's topic in Helix
It's possible. But spring ends June 21 so it wouldn't be considered late until after that. It's a target date that can be beat or missed based on unpredictable events during final testing. Nobody - even in Line 6 - knows for sure at this point. Anything you'll see here is just speculation. Edit: An afterthought.... I think a prudent plan for you would be to not expect the update before late June. Meanwhile, you could do your new recording anytime. Record the dry guitar tracks and then purchase/use Helix Native v1.8 to re-amp when it is released at the same time as Helix v2.8. -
Roland GR55 modeled guitar tones through helix amp sims
silverhead replied to Flyartist's topic in Helix
Sure. Just connect the GR-55 1/4 output to the Helix 1/4" Guitar input. Helix neither knows nor cares what sort of device generates the incoming signal. Of course now you will have two guitar FX devices working serially. I don't know much about the GR-55 capabilities but from a brief reading I know it does things like amp modelling and other tonal FX. You'll have to consider how much you want to use in the GR-55 before going into the Helix. If you want Helix to work the way it's designed - namely to process a dry incoming guitar signal - you will want the GR-55 to do nothing more than generate the guitar tone, unaffected by its amp/FX capabilities. -
Pod Farm 2 Not Authorized
silverhead replied to wedkarzyk123's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
How old is your UX2? Older models came with a license for Pod Farm 1 (which I see you have). If your UX2 was originally licensed for Pod Farm 1 you may now have to purchase a license for Pod Farm 2.5. I would contact Line 6 Support to inquire. -
There are plenty of existing threads on this topic. Try searching and you should find lots of thoughts and opinions.
-
Sure - there are plenty of options. I would recommend no less than 6" speaker but I'm sure plenty of folks are satisfied with 5" - my concern would be getting anywhere near gig volume without crackling, distortion and potential speaker damage. In addition to the manufacturers suggested by cruisinon2 above I know that lots of people are satisfied with the Rockit brand.
-
I think that will be difficult. I think virtually all headphones and non-FRFR speakers colour the tone to a significant degree (in fact, that's the very definition of non-FRFR), which is why most players find that setting up presets through headphones does not translate well to the PA/FRFR speakers and vice versa. Don't know if your Tannoys are FRFR but if not you will have three different sounds for the same presets depending on how you are monitoring: headphones, PA, or Tannoys. The best way to set up your presets for live play, imho, is to use a PA or FRFR speakers and play at gig volume. When using headphones or non-FRFR speakers you should expect to have to tweak the presets to have them sound good. At least that's been my experience and I believe it to be common.

Pod Farm 2 Not Authorized
silverhead replied to wedkarzyk123's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
Have you run the Line 6 License Manager program? -
Download and install the HX Edit v2.71 package. This installs the latest versions of HX Edit program, any necessary drivers, and the Line 6 Updater program. If you want to make backup copies of any of your existing setlists/presets run the HX Edit program and do so. Then run the Line 6 Updater program top update the Helix firmware.

Great summary. Reading the title of the post I thought you were asking the question but after reading it I see you are answering the question. Perhaps you could edit the title to make that clear. Right now you will attract readers who believe they can help answer the question, whereas the readers you want to attract are those who are looking for the answer. Just a thought.
