  1. Yes you can listen directly to headphones connected to the POD HD PRO X. No other equipment is necessary. High impedance headphones are recommended but most any reasonable quality headphones will do.

    WTF USB stomp

Your device needs repair. It's typically not something you can do yourself - most often this requires replacement of an internal circuit board that is likely blown. Contact Line 6 Support or your nearest Line 6 Service center.
  3. Yes - but no surprise. Ballpark is June 22 or sooner (at least that's the most recent public info from Line 6).
  4. Are you sure you are hearing the mag pickups? You may be hearing the natural acoustic string vibrations in standard tuning. This is often misinterpreted as a problem when in fact it's just physics. The natural string vibrations can be surprisingly loud. The best way to tell is to make a recording. If it's the mag pickups you're hearing you will also hear them in the playback of the recording. However the natural acoustic vibrations will not be recorded and you will not hear them in the playback. Another test is to use headphones. Turn the volume up fairly loud. If you no longer hear the double tuning it's because the headphones are drowning out the natural acoustic vibrations.
  5. You can update to v2.71 now. V2.8 will be released soon but is not available now.
  6. I have tested with a Variax 300 which should behave the same as a 700. I've found that the communication only works one way - from Helix to the Variax. So you can, for instance, store and recall the Variax model properly using a Helix preset. However any changes you make on the guitar are not properly received by Helix. The older Variax guitars are not officially supported by Helix so there's no predicting exactly what will or won't work. The above is just my experience.
  7. A partial risk-reduction approach would be to use the Helix Rack rather than the Floor model. Then you could purchase a backup Helix Control unit - the piece that sits on the floor and is at risk. A 2nd Helix Control unit is less costly than the Helix Floor and gives you a complete backup with no loss of features or capabilities and no impact on the performance. Going with any other plan involves more significant equipment changes, differences in sound/tone, and performance adjustments in terms of operating a less familiar piece of equipment (whatever it is). I say it's a partial approach because it only addresses the risk of harm from floor-related events like the drunk; it does not address the risk of the Helix Rack device failing because it is, as you say, a computer.
  8. I would use either the XLR or 1/4" output from your Helix LT to the apogee (they both sum to mono when only the L/MONO output is used). Connect headphones to the apogee if you want to monitor the vocal as well as the guitar.
  9. You're right - see my edited post above. Sorry. ..... you're right - you can't use two interfaces simultaneously. .........
  10. No - you only use the Helix as your interface. Both the guitar and mic are connected to your Helix inputs. You play/record guitar and vocals simultaneously using only Helix .... oops .... I was thinkg Helix Floor. Sorry. The LT model does not have a mic input. My apologies for the confusion. .... and you're right -
  11. You don't need your Apogee if you use the Helix as your audio interface. You just need to configure your DAW to use Helix as well - but this is often automatic after you connect Helix via usb to your computer. Once connected your Helix is your computer soundcard (so connect your headphones to Helix) and, optionally, its audio interface as well.
  12. You can set up a dual path preset in Helix LT that will allow you to play/record from both the guitar and mic inputs simultaneously. The 8-channel ASIO interface to DAW will allow you to record up to 5 different tracks simultaneously: Dry Guitar, Wet guitar, Dry mic, Wet mic, and a stereo mix of both wet tracks.
  13. If there is a trick I haven't found it yet. I've had to add them to the M20d playlist one at a time in the order I want to play them.
  14. Yes - the answer is yes. A quick google search under the term 'POD xt vs. Helix' yielded hours worth of reading material that has already been discussed here and elsewhere many times. Fill your boots!
  15. The screenshot is from Helix Native - not a Helix device.
  16. Does HX Edit recognize the device?
  17. No. The patches are not compatible.
  18. And yet here you are...... is this just a casual drive-by or can we dare hope you will return regularly to further enlighten us?
  19. One thing to check - the Amp/Line switch on the top panel of the device. I discovered once by accident that if this switch is in the middle position it acts as a mute switch on the outputs.
  20. I'm not sure what you're looking for. It's not unusual for factory presets to sound weird. They are often designed for exactly that purpose - to show off the sorts of strange sounds you can get by using certain FX in certain ways. You would never use this sort of preset if you're looking for a guitar sound. But a sound designer for a sci-fi movie might be looking for exactly this as Captain Picard raises his hand, points his finger, and says 'Engage!'. It doesn't mean there's anything wrong with your device if that's what you're worried about.
  21. Yes. Helix Floor and Helix LT presets are fully compatible.
  22. You never know on this forum.... :-) I remember some time ago there was a post from someone who wanted a clock digital readout on the LCD display arguing that it was too much trouble to seek out the actual time when practicing late at night with no smartphone or computer at hand. I thought it was a joke and responded in kind. Turned out he was serious - and offended!
  23. It's not an either/or situation in terms of sources for development ideas. Could it possibly be that Line 6 might consider BOTH ideascale and the survey? I know - mind blowing thought!!
  24. After connecting via USB you need to connect your speakers/monitors to the Helix outputs. The Helix becomes your computer's soundcard.
  25. I suggest you open a support ticket with Line 6: https://line6.com/account/tickets/view
