Correct.

No disc is required. The UX1 itself needs no installation. The Pod Farm software product that comes with it can be downloaded and installed from the Downloads area of this website (see link at top of this page).

If you did not create a backup while running v2.80, and you did not write them down, I think the only way to restore them is from memory. If you created a backup before upgrading to v2.80 you can restore that backup. When restoring you can choose to restore only the global settings. This will restore your global settings to what they were in the firmware you were running prior to v2.80. Any changes you made while running v2.80 will be lost. . Of course you should make backups of your v2.81 presets/setlists before doing this.

CPU usage much higher compared to other amp suits
silverhead replied to gcc1's topic in Helix Native
Do you think the CPU performance with Helix Native would actually cause you problems? Since you say it delivers superb sound and also provides the FX you want, I think the only reason not to buy/use it would be if the performance is actually troublesome. That could likely be fixed by optimizing your computer for audio DAW purposes, but perhaps you might prefer to use an inferior amp/FX simulator for improved performance. I don't know whether performance enhancements are in development. But the latest release of Helix Native allows you to use as many instances/FX as your computer will support. Previous versions required HN presets to be compatible with Helix device DSP limits. The latest version opens the door to performance discussions since users can now add more and more performance demands until their computer balks. There are two solutions: Line 6 can work on performance enhancements (out of your control) or you can upgrade/optimize your computer (totally within in your control). -

What do you think of the sound quality of Helix Native compared to the others? -
It’s common practice among retailers who offer a return policy. Even if there’s nothing wrong with the device it can be returned simply because the buyer doesn’t want to keep it (buyer’s remorse, it isn’t exactly what they thought it was, etc.). As long as there’s no reason to think anything is wrong with it the retailer will simply put it back on the shelf as new. Happens everywhere.

I have moved this to the Firehawk forum. i recommend you either: - get a new modeling amp of your choice and sell Firehawk; or - get an FRFR speaker and keep Firehawk. There's no point in using two amp modeling devices. And you'll need a more complicated setup (4CM) as well as more skill and experience in preset building to effectively use a regular amp with Firehawk.

Variax? Or not?
silverhead replied to pballjock's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
In my opinion you can't really get realistic acoustic tones using an electric guitar. Variax will deliver much better acoustic tones. -
That would be best.

Please open a support ticket for this. Line 6 will be interested in getting copies of your problematic presets/setlists for debugging purposes. I know they are having difficulty reproducing the problem, which of course is essential to finding a fix, and the more data points they have the better.

This is a known bug. I encountered and reported this during beta testing. They're working on it but I don't know if a fix will be in v2.81. Problem is it was not 100% reproducible for me - it sometimes showed up in certain presets then sometimes did not. It was sometimes resolved by restarting Helix, and sometimes not. But it always involved certain Helix Marketplace assets in my experience; importing certain ones would sometimes result in this behaviour. If a restart doesn't fix it, and it's very important to you, try reinstalling v2.80 and trying again. Sometimes that worked for me.

How did you obtain v1.0? Have you tried downloading and installing the latest version from the Downloads area of this website?

No hate from here. Just wondering why the rant? What, if anything, are you hoping to accomplish? Or does this somehow make you feel better? Seriously - what motivates you to post this?

New Variax Standard Owner - Recording Question
silverhead replied to DavidNoble1983's topic in Variax Standard
You do not need a separate DI. -
Helix has a separate volume control for the headphones. I turn down the main volume control when recording vocals to eliminate the sound playback in the room. Also, you can use closed back headphones to minimize bleed from the phones into the mic, which are probably only about a foot apart while recording vocals.

I agree - the Amplifi series has not received an update for a long time which suggests it is longer being actively developed. However it is still supported. I don't know what the post you quoted means by 'immediate' support but if you contact Customer Support you will get support. I also don't know about the time lag for parts availability but it is still being manufactured and sold so parts are available; Line 6 support can direct you. I don't plan to argue with you about whether or not I would be happy if I owned an Amplifi (I don't). If I bought it for what it can do today I would probably be happy since it still does that. If I bought it expecting a series of updates over the next several years I would probably not be happy. But that says more about my expectations than Line 6 support.

In this context it's also important to remember that his is a support forum. Users come here mostly to report and get help for problems they are having. Fully satisfied customers don't generally come here. So it's not surprising to see a lot of problems being discussed here; that's exactly what this space is for.

Guitar In-z( Variax Even Change Something In The Sound?)
silverhead replied to guilhordas's topic in POD HD
The Guitar In-Z parameter does not affect VDI Input at all, even when using Variax Mags. It applies only to the physical Guitar In jack which carries an analog signal. -
Experiment with different XLR Output settings - Line level or Mic level (see Global Settings -> Inputs/outputs).

Good to know. Thanks.

Great. Please keep us informed about any results.

New Variax Standard Owner - Recording Question
silverhead replied to DavidNoble1983's topic in Variax Standard
You mention that you are new to recording and that you are considering running a DI box into your PC. That suggests that you are not already using an audio interface. That should be your next best bit of kit to get. Many manufacturers make audio interfaces. The Line 6 options are here: https://line6.com/products/#computer I would suggest the GX (if you never want to record vocals), UX1 (if you want to record vocals and guitar at different times), or UX2 (if you want to record vocals and guitar simultaneously). All of these come with licenses to Pod Farm. You will then be able to connect your Variax (and/or mic) directly to the UX input - no need for a DI box - and be able to use Pod Farm to apply various FX to the guitar and/or vocal signal (e.g. compression, EQ, amp, chorus, delay, reverb,...) while recording.
