    Flash Update

If this was not an authorized Line 6 service centre, then you need to take/send the device to an authorized service centre. If this was an authorized service centre, then open another support ticket with Line 6 and inform them of the situation. Line 6 must take responsibility for correcting this problem although you will have to pay for it (you voided any warranty if the usb port/controller was replaced anywhere but an authorized service centre).
  3. Yes it's possible. First, make sure the looper is in POST (not PRE) position. Select your first patch/preset. Enter Looper mode and record the first loop. While the loop is playing back exit Looper mode and select your next patch/preset. Enter Looper mode again and overdub the next layer of your loop. Continue in this manner to overdub as many layers as you wish.
  4. ... meantime, the stored level of the pedal will be whatever state/position it is in at the moment that you Save the preset.
  5. For maximum flexibility using your amp with the HD500X you should read up on the 4 Cable Method of connecting the devices. There are plenty of threads in this forum on this topic. Search for "4CM".
  6. Try using the Pre (rather than Full) amp models in the HD500X presets, set Output Mode to Stack Amp, and route the HD500X output to your amp's FX Return input. You may need to use a dummy plug in the amp's FX Send to activate the FX Loop.
  7. Well, the first thing to understand is that you are using two amplifiers: the physical Marshall as well as the modeled amp in the HD500X. Imagine that you had two physical amps, and you routed the output of the first amp into the input of the second. Also imagine that both amps are applying distortion (and whatever other FX you have active) to the sound. I would expect a muddy mess of a sound - and that's what you're getting. The second thing to understand is that you need to read the HD500X manual. If you're new to the world of amp/FX modeling you have a steep learning curve ahead of you, and that's the best place to start.
  8. You can make the 'knob view' persist by selecting the Amp Edit page. Select the amp in the signal flow view and double-press the Enter button. You can do this before turning any knobs. Inspect the dot indicator to see the current value, compare to the knob's physical setting, and anticipate what the effect of turning a knob will be. Press the View button when you want to return to the signal flow view.
  9. I presume your Helix is connected via usb to your computer? What's your DAW?
  10. At the line6.com/software page you should see three dropdown fields: Product, Software, and OS. Choose Helix, Drivers, and Windows 7 respectively. You should then be presented with Helix Driver Version 1.76.0.1 for download and installation. If you don't see this, what do you see?
  11. I edited the title to try to make the purpose of the thread more clear and hopefully encourage more response.
  12. Glad to help. Which device are you using as the audio interface for recording - the Lexicon or Helix? If you are not using the Helix I think you should at least try it for a bit and check out the re-amping capabilities.
  13. No - it doesn't matter which path. Yes - the s/pdif output will be the acoustic; the mags will be sent through FX Loop. I'm pretty sure you can do everything with the HD500 Edit program. You can't change any s/pdif parameters there but I don't think you will need to. You can do everything else for sure.
  14. You can completely bypass your Lexicon. In GarageBand select Helix as your audio output device (as well as input) and connect your speakers to the Helix outputs. ... Or, disconnect the Helix USB from your iMac, reset the audio input device to your Lexicon and connect the Helix audio outputs (XLR or otherwise) to your Lexicon inputs.
  15. Create a dual path preset with no FX before the path split. This ensures that the two input signals are kept completely separate. Set Input1=Variax and Input2=Variax Mags. Set your Variax Model to your desired acoustic model. You can do this manually or store it in the Hd500 preset. Path A will process your acoustic model and Path B will process your magnetic pickups. Put whatever FX processing you want in Paths A and B respectively. Put the FX Loop in Path B after any desired FX. Route the Hd500 FX Send to whatever device/amp you want for your magnetic pickups. Plug a dummy jack in the FX Return and set the Return Level to zero (making sure none of the mag pickups signal reaches the Hd500 outputs). Route the HD500 output (which now carries only your processed acoustic tone) to your desired acoustic output device (PA/speakers). EDIT: Forgot to mention - you need to use the VDI connection for this setup.
  16. Sure. To play through your HD500X and hear your computer sounds also, just connect the HD500X to your computer via usb. Configure your computer Sound settings to use the HD500X as the recording and playback device. Connect your HD500X outputs to the stagesource speaker inputs (either L6 LINK or the rear-panel analog outputs/inputs). To use the stagesource speaker without the HD500X just connect your computer's headphone outputs to the speaker inputs. You may need an 1/8" to 1/4" adapter.
  17. The MIDI implementation in the Pod HD500X is limited. In particular it does not recognize the note on/off commands that are critical for recording keyboard sequences.
  18. It's not a problem. The knobs on both my L3t speakers also move very smoothly and easily. Unless there's a problem with the functioning you are OK.
  19. I'm not a Mac/ProTools guy so can't say whether the HD500X can be used as the audio interface. If you use another interface I suggest the s/pdif from the HD500X to it - avoids a D/A and subsequent A/D conversion. In order to use the Variax VDI connection rather than the regular analog 1/4" output you will need to connect the Variax to the HD500X; you can't connect the VDI directly to another audio interface. In this case you could use the FX Loop to the Eleven, but you could also use the regular HD500X output. Just add whatever processing you want (or none) in the HD500X. I don't think the FX Loop output is any different from the regular output assuming you have no HD500X processing beyond the FX Loop in the preset chain. I don't know if the Eleven has an s/pdif Input and appropriate input selector. If so you could use that from the HD500X to the Eleven, and select the HD500X s/pdif Dry signal as a direct input from the Variax to the Eleven, essentially using the HD500X as a bypass device.
  20. I've simplified the cable switching a bit. I have my Pod HD Pro XLR Outs into the M20d and then L6 LINK to the L3 speakers for jamming and loud practice. I also have the HD Pro 1/4" Outputs to a pair of Samson Resolv50a studio monitors for recording (HD Pro USB to DAW) and low volume practice. That way I don't have to switch cables - I just turn on the appropriate gear/speakers for whatever sort of session I'm doing.
  21. Is the FX Loop in your Firehawk preset turned on?
  22. Do you have cubase configured to use the Hd500 and its ASIO driver as the audio input/output device?
  23. Check the Mic Trim setting on your Pod (a knob beside the MIC input); you may need to increase the trim. After doing that, if necessary you could also the Vintage Pre-amp in your HD500 preset. It's in the EQ FX section. One of the other EQs that allows you to add gain/volume could also work.
