  1. Well, then - sorry for the misinformation. I guess I never tried to do that.
  2. Yes - you can do that. For authenticity, as thorneven has said, do not add the octave on the high E and B strings. Just double them at the same pitch.
  3. HD500 patches will work with the HD300/400 to the extent that the patch remains compatible with the capabilities of the lower models. For instance - HD500 dual path patches can't be used in the 300/400. There is a patch converter utility that will help you with the file conversions.
  4. The X3 can control the models but not the tunings.
  5. The GX becomes your computer's soundcard. Connect your computer speakers to the GX outputs (e.g. headphones output).
  6. I am on a PC, not Mac, environment but I know the HD500 works with Garageband. I can't say how well, and many people prefer to use a different audio interface in both environments for various reasons. I'm just saying he could - not necessarily should - use the HD500.
  7. The info provided by the OP suggest he owns an original Pod Pro - not the Pod HD Pro. The converter you mention works well for transferring Pod HD files form one model to another, but won't convert old Pod (not HD) Pro files.
  8. No - the tones are not transferable. The differences go way beyond user interface; it's a completely different product architecture.
  9. Interesting question, but actually meaningless because the answer is No - even if it is Yes. :P
  10. I do not own Sonic Port, so I am basing this only on the product description of Sonic Port on this website. I think the answer is Yes - you can use it with Amplitube. The info I base this on appears on the Product Overview page: http://line6.com/sonicport/ ... in the "Plug into iOS Creativity" section, where it says: Sonic Port makes it easy to connect your guitar or bass to your iOS device and start making music. Simply plug your instrument into the 1/4" guitar input, launch GarageBand, the free Line 6 Mobile POD app, or another CoreAudio app, and start playing. ... so the question becomes: Is Amplitube a CoreAudio app? I believe it is, but you can ask/research that question in the Amplitube product web info/forum. Update: I did a very quick and dirty search re: Amplitube and CoreAudio. There seems to be conflicting information. You should research this question yourself. The result will answer your question about Sonic Port and AMplitube.
  11. You do not need to purchase a separate audio interface; the HD500 is an audio interface. You may need to configure Garage Band to use the HD500 as its audio interface.
  12. The OP is aware of this. He said he does not want to have to push the knob.
  13. The tuner only works on Input 1. Make sure Input 1 is set to Guitar or Variax.
  14. You need a recording program. Pod Farm is not one. The simplest in your case, I think, would be Riffworks. There's a free version here: http://www.sonomawireworks.com/T4/
  15. Your HD500 is an audio interface. Is there some specific reason you would want another one?
  16. 1) Yes - no problem 2) In the preset set your Input to Variax Mags when you want to use the JTV pickups instead of a model.
  17. Test / replace your power adapter.
  18. These symptoms are usually caused by a faulty power adapter (having ruled out firmware). I echo phil_m's suggestion - check out your power adapter.
  19. All tones for the basic Pod device should be compatible with the Pro model within the same Pod family.
  20. Glad you got things resolved. Good luck on the weekend gigs!
  21. I am not 100% sure about the green light, but I recently saw it for the first time immediately after a problematic update. I hadn't noticed it after earlier successful updates. So that's three of us that saw it in the context of an update. I'm guessing it indicates that the update process is finished but perhaps not entirely successfully - the guitar either needs a power recycle or a reinstall.
  22. Check the 1/4" out switch on top of your POD HD500. Make sure it is set fully to either AMP or LINE (in your case you probably want LINE). I chased the identical symptom on my Pod X3 Live for a few hours years ago before I noticed that this switch had been bumped into the middle position, where it surprisingly acted as a MUTE switch because neither AMP nor LINE was engaged. I was more careful vacuuming the top of the device thereafter. Just a guess - I don't know if the same thing is true on the HD500.
  23. I think that it is possible that your firmware became corrupted somehow. I would reinstall it. Be sure to back up your setlists/presets first. http://line6.com/community/docs/DOC-2057
  24. The Looper has no sense of tempo. You must start/stop it exactly 'on the beat', but the beat is only in your head. It sounds like you are stopping it early - by exactly the amount of pause that you are hearing. It records the silence until you tap the footswitch, and then plays back the silence at the end of each cycle. Here's an old thread that may help. http://line6.com/support/message/451813#451813
