No problem my man its what the forums are for. With my Spider Valve and HD I use the 2 cable method. Guitar -> Pod -> Spider Valve FX In. That is it and it sounds really good. To me the 4CM is for guys that want to use theirs amp's distortion while using the unit for FX. You are trying to do that too but on two units that have a lollipop load of FX already that don't benefit as much (like say you had just a std tube head with no built in FX). The FH probably already sounds damn good and through a tube power amp (SV) should sound great. ;)

IMO unless you are changing guitars (pu's strings etc) there should be no wildly changing sounds with the same patch from session to session unless the other hardware and/or DAW has its settings changed or issues.

From urbanspaceblast's post: Guitar -> FH Guitar In FH FX Send -> SV Guitar In SV FX Send -> FH FX Return FH Out -> SV FX Return That is the 4CM in its base form. Here is the kicker: Its a lot of signal to be pushing in the guitar in of the SV. The SV pre-amp is basically a Pod and Pods do not IMO like having a pre-amp signal pushed at them (think clipping). But if you go there just remember its not a conventional amp and it might take some madness to work (if at all). I have a SV MKI and Pod HD -> SV Fx Return is the best to me. Hope that makes sense.

Read post #8 of the thread there is a block diagram of the Firehawk 4CM. Pre-amp out -> Fx return not a send (in). An out goes to an in. You could do something bad sending a signal to the wrong spot. Updating the pedal shouldn't matter is the basic cabling isn't correct. I don't have a FH but the 4CM is the same principle as the HD500. TBH the SVs sound really good on their own or like I proposed earlier go FH-> SV FX return and hit the tube power amp direct.

Indeed, setting the output to power amp, selecting pre's only, disabling cabs all those "should" cancel the cabs. For S&Gs I looked through the archive and there was one other guy that had a similar issue but alas there was never any follow-up for confirmation or solution.
-
Even when going out the 1/4"? You are not running a dual path patch are you?
-
Try selecting the "Pre" version of the amps but going "No Cab" should mean no cab (etc).

Its a toughie as the KRKs have a real good rep but as Napynap said "power" - for a DAW KRKS no guesswork there but in a jam situation is the question. If you tangle with a real drum kit things get loud quick and a bass just eats a room. Don't underestimate the 10" either. If you can take the HD with you and take both for a demo run, do it.
-
For a good FRFR that can go quiet or LOUD Altos are tough to beat. We run two for our practice PA and they don't distort or rattle. Add a small mixer and you can also add vocals to your family jams. The 10" are not bad either as the 12" is big. But those are suggestions if you find the studio monitors cannot deliver the volume you need.

Check out the Alto TS112 or TS110 they are really nice FRFRs and have some volume when you need it.

Using Pod Farm with a Pod XTLive
BillBee replied to markcline321's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
The Scarlett should work just as well as a UX. There are some other guys here who use PF way more than I do so I am sure they will chime in eventually. But the forums may already have some info in them related to PF and interfaces. -
Just for relevancy of running the HD with external IRs - take a look at the D-tech GSP1101 - similar to the HD Rack in that it has fixed IRs. On its own the GSP is a pretty nice unit but when MustBeBeta came out with a firmware allowing 10 User IRs the GSP just took a leap back into relevancy. The HD really would benefit from them as well. IRs are not a panacea for poor patch programming and the stock cabs are fine but IRs just open up that bit of sonic diversity that is welcome. IMO of course ;)

Gearbox is still there just choose a lower operating system in the drop down menu - like Win 7. -
new to pod 2.0....amp question
BillBee replied to RavenMadd's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
Amp setting should be a neutral as you can get. Tone knobs all at 5, no gain, no verb. If your amp has an FX Loop go in there so you use the amp's power amp only. Think clean clean clean. :) -
Thanks my man - I will have to check it out.

Using Pod Farm with a Pod XTLive
BillBee replied to markcline321's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
The XTL is an interface itself so Podfarm would pick up its signal. Keep in mind it has its own signal chain which would stack with PF. -
Hey I have an idea here. I was just checking out my Flex II for someone to borrow and I started wondering about the E 1 - that is also an "edit" indicator. This is mere speculation but there is a battery on the mobo which is used to save the edited presets when the unit is shut off. With the age of the amp it "could" be time to replace it - but if editing the amp without the floorboard is fine and saves everything then the battery is good. It does involve a bit of soldering skill. If you want to go into that rabbit hole on a guess let me know and when I get back here on Monday I'll see what better info I can post.

Yep, 1x8 to 4x12 and beyond. After all you would know. ;) -
Nope just a schmuck who has a bunch of L6 amps. :D
