  1. Flashing or not the E1 = bad news. Does the error code happen "without" the floorboard connected? If no its the floorboard or cable, so connect them with a different Cat5 cable, Still bad? then its probably cheaper to find another used floorboard. If you get E1 on the amp without the floorboard connected, then try the amp reset procedure and hope.
  2. Let me tag on to PG, right now as you don't have the gear so you really don't have a tone to be affected. I would look into using the HD's loop in lieu of running a preamp into its input. As far as signal loss goes there isn't really much that should occur going straight to the board - ampless.
  3. Score! Muhaha!! BTW OP do check out Duncan's link - its a good one.
  4. fullcompass.com is a good place to check as they stock a lot of L6 parts. The 'bay might be a place to find one getting parted out.
  5. The switch should turn the wah off when repressed. You might want to revisit the FBV and make sure it is being pressed hard enough as the FBV exp toe switch is stiff.
  6. I am not a Spider Iv owner but they can produce the metal tones. I recommend downloading Spider Edit and use it to setup the patches. Going from an 8"(?) to a 2x12 is a big jump in tonality and the EQ curves are not going to be well represented from one amp to the other. For now skip pedals and focus on AMP/CAB combos for your editing. Low verbs and a compressor to start (just to keep things tight). EQ that puppy too.
  7. Great stuff - tight shred and well balanced! BTW I love the ESP FRX (?) in the artwork. Thanks for the share!
  8. You can try opening up the FBV and hitting the contact point with some DeOxit contact cleaner. It usually resolves the problem for quite a while. The used market for the FBVs is pretty healthy too btw as the new FBV3 is out.
  9. The MKI and MKII are pretty much the same. The II an extra switch up top which may or may not do anything for the Flex III (can't remember off hand). If the firmware is cool for the Flex I wouldn't worry about it.
  10. You need to get a copy of Gearbox look under windows 7 for the OS. Firmware is the XTs operating system and the presets are like the programs. Line 6 Monkey is referring to reflashing the system which is like reformatting and installing windows on your PC. Editing patches is like adding or deleting programs. Hope that helps.
  11. The best advise I can give is to start small. Decide on an initial amplification method (frfr, amp, etc), watch some YouTube vids on patch creation and see how the puzzle is logically put together. DL a patch or two from Customtone (yes it will probably sound bad) but see how it was put together and what adjustments are needed for you. Most of all and better than the manual is this site. Old posts are a treasure trove of knowledge and the folks here can give a good answer to a reasonable question. and walk away from the editing to play don't let it eat your practice/jamming time.
  12. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/amplifiers/spider-ivspider-online/spider-iv-30-faqs-r336 Song setting are in the first link of that page.
  13. Rat haters! I have a few generations of the Rat: original big box, rat II and the turbo rat. All raspy goodness not to be cranked to max distortion and the filter used with care. Its not one to pop lightly in front of an already heavily distorted amp.
  14. If it is flashing the error code E1 without the floorboard connected and Q: How do I perform a factory reset on my Flextone II? A: The factory reset for a Flextone II is to hold the A B C D Buttons while powering the amp. doesn't help then there is most likely an amp issue that needs to be serviced (if it can). If amp was only doing that while the floorboard was connected and I would suggest a different cat5 cable then check the ports on both for bent pins. I know this will not be much solace but I hope the FX loop still will work so you can use it like a power amp if you happen to have another modeler.
  15. Never heard of the Ultra model but it's all good. What is not working the Amp, floorboard or the 2 together?
  16. Customtone still has oodles of XT patches for the bold downloader! The link is at the top of the page.
  17. I think that its the terminology that is screwing things up. There "IS" a FBV longboard - 2 exp pedals full back lit display that will not work and you really shouldn't plug it in if that is the one you have (flex III, Vetta). Then there is the Floorboad with the red digit display (only gives patch #) which is Flex II approved. The floorboard is the one I use with a Flex II XL and a Flex II Plus. 2nd gen Flextone 2 is not something I have came across as even the Flex I used the "floorboard". On the other hand the Pod's original did have a controller switch over when the Pod 2.0 came out. The Flex III (3) I have uses a FBV shortboard but the FBV longboard can also be used. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/effects-controllers/fbv-mki-mkii-controllers/the-complete-line-6-pedal-compatibility-faq-r58 No wonder you got confused.
  18. Ahhh... well if you have the Flex 2 then the Red Led - 2 exp pedal (old Floorboard - not FBV) is the one. FYI Midi: https://line6.com/data/6/0a060b316ac34f0593513bc6a/application/pdf/Flextone%20II%20Sysex.pdf
  19. Jackson - the #1 prob is the usb/midi cables as you found out. Windows 10 I don't have. Line 6 gear loves the M-Audio Uno so if you have access to one try that (updated drivers should be on their website).
  20. Thanks for posting a follow-up. Did the shop tell you what was wrong?
  21. The HD can sound awesome through an amp its all in how you set the unit up. Silverhead brings up a valid point - Editor.
  22. Q: What tubes ship in the Spider Valve amplifiers? What is the power output? Spider Valve 112: (2) Sovtek 12AX7LPS preamp tubes, (2) Sovtek 5881/6L6WXT power amp tubes. 40 watts. Spider Valve 212: (2) Sovtek 12AX7LPS preamp tubes, (2) Sovtek 5881/6L6WXT power amp tubes. 40 watts. Spider Valve HD: (2) Sovtek 12AX7LPS preamp tubes, (4) Sovtek 5881/6L6WXT power amp tubes. 100 watts. Right off the FAQ. Edit: Forgot to add you should consider taking it in to have a shop change the tubes and set the bias. Don't want to get zapped as there is some juice in there. ;)
  23. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/legacy-products/amps/flextone-i-ii-iii-duoverb-hd147/flextone-ii-faqs-r460 Let's see: Flextone II = 2nd gen Flextone. You can check the firmware version on startup - the link above has it and its in the manual. Blinking lights. Serial # deciphering is pretty elusive and might get you the year. BTW your other post regarding the Floorboard - if this is the floorboard (old red led two exp pedals) there is no point in registering it and I don't think you can. Its been out of production for a very long time.
  24. No one in their right mind would make a bootleg floorboard. What used floorboard did you buy? and what is the erroneous information you have been fed?
  25. The Pod 2.0 uses the Midi/Usb cable for its connection so you would use the driver for that (if needed). Once connected Line 6 Edit handles the editing over the usb/midi cable.
