brettchinery
Hi all - whats the consensus of opinion here on having the input pad on or off The manual seems to imply only turning on the input pad with high output pickups but from searching around, others are saying have it on all the time whatever the guitar FYI, I am using a strat, a PRS custom 22 and Les Paul traditional - none of which having scorching high output and the strat is a super-bright treble machine Thoughts ??? duncann
I generally keep it on for consistency's sake. And so I don't have to remember, or write down (but write it down anyway!) what a preset expects this setting to be (what it was on when the preset was designed), because it can potentially change the way a preset sounds, greatly in some cases. With it on, there is no danger at all of the input signal clipping (evolution pickups here), and you can always add a +6dB gain block if you want to drive another block or amp harder. phil_m
I don't really have any guitars that have overly hot pickups, so I leave it off. It might be my imagination, but I always feel like I'm missing a bit of bite with it on.
CraigGT
Even though my main guitar is active, I leave the pad off because it gives me a unity gain path to the front of my amp in 4CM. Craig
