archtopeddy
Questions keep coming up about what's in the Amplifi app. I thought I'd pull up a tone and see what I find. (Anybody can do this. Just load the free Amplifi app on your iPhone/iPad, pull up a tone, go to "Editor" and start snooping around) AE 77 Amps (9 Clean, 24 American, 18 British, 26 Hi Gain) 8 Wahs 15 Stomps 23 Mods 14 Delays 15 Filters, Synths, and Pitch 15 Reverbs Clean Amps: No Amp Tube Instrument Preamp Line 6 Piezacoustic 2 Line 6 Variax Acoustic 1987 Jazz Clean Line 6 21st Century Clean Line 6 Super Clean Line 6 Sparkle Clean Line 6 Super Sparkle American Amps: 1958 Tweed B-Man 1953 Small Tweed 1960 Tiny Tweed 1964 Blackface 'Lux 1965 Double Verb 1963 Blackface Vibro 1967 Double Show 1972 Silverface Bass 1960 Gibson Expo 1967 Wishbook Silver 12 1960s Super O 1962 Super O Thunder 1960 Two-Tone 1985 Cali Crunch 1993 Match D-30 1996 Match Chief 2001 Zen Master 1996 Mini Double Line 6 Class A Line 6 Mood Line 6 Bayou Line 6 Twang Line 6 Crunch Line 6 Boutique #1 British Amps: Brit Gain 18 1965 Plexi 45 1968 Plexi Lead 100 1968 Plexi Jump Lead 1968 Plexi Variac’d 1968 Brit Plexi Bass 100 1969 Brit Plexi Lead 200 1996 Brit JM Pre 1990 Brit J-800 1992 Brit Gain J-900 Clean 1992 Brit Gain J-900 Dist 2003 Brit Gain J-2000 Brit J-2000 #2 1960 Class A-15 1967 Class A-30 Top Boost Class A-30 Fawn Citrus D-30 1973 Hiway 100 High Gain Amps: 1987 Brit Gain Silver J 1993 Solo 100 Head 2001 Treadplate Dual 2001 Cali Diamond Plate 2002 Bomber Uber 2002 Bomber X-TC 2002 Angel P-Ball 2003 Connor 50 2003 Deity Crunch 2003 Deity Lead 2003 Deity’s Son 2002 Mississippi Criminal Line 6 Modern Hi Gain Line 6 Spinal Puppet Line 6 Chemical X Line 6 Purge Line 6 Insane Line 6 Argo Line 6 Lunatic Line 6 Treadplate Line 6 Big Bottom Line 6 Chunk Chunk Line 6 Fuzz Line 6 Octone Line 6 Smash Line 6 Throttle Gate: Noise Gate Vol:Volume Wah: Line 6 Fassel Weeper Chrome Chrome Custom Throaty Conductor Colorful Stomp (Drives and Dynamics): Facial Fuzz Fuzz Pi Screamer Classic Distortion Octave Fuzz Killer Z Tube Drive Boost + EQ Bass Overdrive Bronze Master Red Comp Blue Comp Blue Comp Treb Vetta Comp Auto Swell Mods: Sine Chorus Analog Chorus Line 6 Flanger Jet Flanger Phaser U-Vibe Opto Tremolo Bias Tremolo Rotary Drum + Horn Rotary Drum Auto Pan Analog Square Chorus Stereo Square Chorus Stereo Expo Chorus Random Chorus Stereo Square Flange Expo Flange Lumpy Phase Hi Talk Sweeper POD Purple X Random S & HWarble-Matic Delays: Analog Delay Analog Delay w/Modulation Tube Echo Multi-Head Delay Sweep Echo Digital Delay Stereo Delay Ping Pong Delay Reverse Delay Echo Platter Tape Echo Low Rez Phaze Eko Bubble Echo Filters, Synths, and Pitch Auto Wah Dingo Tron Clean Sweep Seismik Synth Double Bass Buzz Wave Rez Synth Saturn 5 Ring Mod Synth Analog Synth FX Synth Harmony Synth Lead Synth String Bender Tape Eater Comp: Compressor EQ:EQ Reverb: ‘Lux Spring Standard Spring King Spring Small Room Tiled Room Brite Room Dark Hall Medium Hall Large Hall Rich Chamber Chamber Cavernous Slap Plate Vintage Plate Large Plate
charlyg
Yeoman's work there eddy! And there are 30 amps in the HD 500x. So there are more effects in the Pod HD, but more amps in Amplifi.
RNRage
+1 Don't own one myself.. But well done. This should be sticky'd.
TheRealZap
all the info/details are essentially here: http://line6.com/support/knowledgebase/toneporthelp/help/model.html
charlyg
^^^^^^^^There are 77 amp models in the Amplifi. The toneport list is lacking. Line6 says Pod Farm, not toneport.
TheRealZap
the toneport has zero amp models. toneports get amp models from either gearbox (OLD) or pod farm (CURRENT) the list may not have been updated anytime recently... but the info applies model to model for the amplifi as well... 100% positive. it basically just tells you what was modeled etc... if they tweaked it or whatever for amplifi... its still based on the same information. ^^^^^^^^There are 77 amp models in the Amplifi. TheRealZap
i did find a more current and complete listing here: English.pdf
archtopeddy
i did find a more current and complete listing here: Thanks!! This greatly adds information to the list of Amplifi amps, pedals, and settngs. The list is useful since it tells us exactly what's in the Amplifi, and cross-referencing to the pdf file lets us learn about the specific amp, pedal, etc. It's time to start cookin' up some tones! charlyg
I still don't see the Pod Farm connection...
TheRealZap
pod farm got their models from the x-series. the x3 has all the pod farm and all the model pack models in it. the pod x3 has the same models as pod farm. even if they tell you that magical blue leprechauns came from an obscure village just south of gargamels castle and made special fairy dust models for the amplifi units... the models are still based on the ones DOCUMENTED here.... the documentation does not affect the sound. in other words... if you want to know what the models in your amp are based on... it's in the PDF. I still don't see the Pod Farm connection...
Triryche
(cross post) The AMPLIFi engine is based on the POD Farm algorithms. If you look at the models for POD Farm Platinum, basically a fully loaded PODxt, PODxt Live or POD X3 (X3 comes fully loaded), that is what the AMPLIFi's models are based on. Currently the AMPLIFi does not seem to have all the POD Farm Platinum models.
charlyg
According to Digitech, they were able to use complete algorithms(full lexicon reverb as one example) on the iStomp because it only held one model at a time(more room than on mfx). I would assume(I know) that Pod Farm plugin algos might be more robust than what are in the Pods?
TheRealZap
I don't think that would be accurate. the model quality does not scale in that sense. much like an mp3, if the file is encoded at 128k that's what it will use to play regardless of the player. the models where built at a certain quality and that's that..... digitech was probably able to model their istomps at a higher quality level because of their intended use. if it was just a matter of running them on better hardware... all these models would be in the pod HD's or pod X4 as it would more aptly be called. charlyg
That is why I keep using the term plugin. Could it be the case they are different than what goes into specific hardware? Avid made a box, the Eleven Rack to use their plugin models so.........I dunno
TheRealZap
it's highly unlikely that they re-did the modeling. i'm pretty certain that they would move forward with new models being HD or whatevers next... long before they go back and remodel these. radatats
is it true to say that the amp models are from the POD X3 family but the effects are from the M Series family?
TheRealZap
I've never heard that... highly doubt it.... but can't say with certainty. is it true to say that the amp models are from the POD X3 family but the effects are from the M Series family? phil_m
is it true to say that the amp models are from the POD X3 family but the effects are from the M Series family? Nope... There's some overlap, but most of the effects are different. The effects are the same as POD Farm and the X3 series, for all intents and purposes. Although, there are some difference in the way the effects respond. For instance, the one clip I made and put up her, I made a delay go into a smooth self-oscillation. That was something you could never do with the XT or X3. I'm not so sure if POD Farm would do that or not.
charlyg
Can anyone point me to a shootout between the HD models and the Pod Farm models? I will take it with the usual youtube grain of salt, or even a written review would be cool...
stumblinman
I think my HD500 PCB is actually labeled Pod X4 I don't think that would be accurate. the model quality does not scale in that sense. much like an mp3, if the file is encoded at 128k that's what it will use to play regardless of the player. the models where built at a certain quality and that's that..... digitech was probably able to model their istomps at a higher quality level because of their intended use. if it was just a matter of running them on better hardware... all these models would be in the pod HD's or pod X4 as it would more aptly be called. TheRealZap
not surprising, i think its all called something more familiar in development... and then they hand it over to their marketing guys to reinvent the reinvention of all inventions. :D i think my DT50 box even said vetta on it. :) I think my HD500 PCB is actually labeled Pod X4
