Bgrudz2021
Hello, as a professional musician who seeks to capture any and all tones of a plethora of artists, the Helix products really help me archive my preset goals. Here's a list of a few things I would like to see in the next coming Helix updates. (as far as the Helix floor and Rack is considered.) Please feel free to add to this forum I'd be interested in hearing your suggestions for a future episode of the Pedal Head Show. #1: As a studio musician who uses their Helix as their main #1 recording interface I have had only few discrepancies with the helix disconnecting it self from time to time, I checked the sample rate, I checked my USB ports and I've learned to live with swapping output interfaces and power cycling on numerous occasions. I would like for my helix to stop disconnecting all together... A big request I know as everyone out there has different studio setups, different computers, Pc or Mac M1 chip or intercom Hada-hada.. I think we can all agree to have a stable high performance DSP interface that doesn't interrupt your work flow is crucially a must for all of us willing to spend money and time on our Line 6 Helix. So my first request would be to have a update that really helps this issue. #2: For those musicians who use the Line 6 Helix as their Gigging unit or Studio interface, you'll know that you can get great Audio quality from the mic input. This might be fine in a studio context since you can add any plugins to your vocals via your DAW. For us studio and gigging musicians you might find the mic parameters to be pretty limited. I think it would be great if the Helix Floor also had a huge list of vocal quality effects that you could use on the fly that could also depend on your guitar input. Here's a list A) A quality vocal pitch correction that you can set to chromatic, key or the key the guitar input is receiving. B) A vocal vowel sensing controlled talk box effect. C) A Vocoder effect to line with a synth block . D) A quality harmonizer that's matched better for vocals. E) A neve style preamp or channel strip F) Feedback limiter gate. Those effects aside, an easy route to access the control of the mic's input gain would be great as well #3 A guitar modulator that turns your solid body humbucker equipped guitar into a open coil Strat, that gives you full flexibility of different guitar tones without having to haul 6 guitars to a recording session, jam or gig. Humbuckers to single coil which position the block is receiving and converting to such as; Neck Humbucker >>> Neck or Middle and Neck single coils / Bridge Humbucker>>>Bridge or Middle and Bridge single coils. Solid body to hollow/semi hollow body Les Paul style to Tele Style Ect.... #4 A small request in full honesty I think this ways out the rest of these past suggestions for a future firmware update... and that is! (Drum Roll Please) A Distortion Block that's modelled after the Ibandez TS10. (hold for dramatic effect) Thanks for reading this forum, please add any suggestions you might have, I'd be interested in hearing the community's thoughts. Thankyou to the Line 6 team for all their amazing work on all their updates so far! Hopefully we see some of these effect blocks / updates in the future. Hi, As noted by @rd2rk in the post above - there are no Line 6 staff here, post your suggestions to the Line 6 IdeaScale. Here’s a few of my observations about your requests. #1: - I’m a studio user, and since November 2015 I have been using my Helix to record into Logic Pro, on an almost daily basis and can honestly say that I have never suffered from disconnects while working. If I ever did, then it takes a matter of moments to be back up and running! I would suggest that you check you connections and workflow. #2: - You say that you find the Helix is limited for processing vocals, well that’s because it’s main purpose is as a guitar device, everything else is a bonus. I have used it to record basic vocals for further processing in the DAW. Again this has always been without any problems, using a simple signal path incorporating the Studio Tube Preamp, LA Studio Comp and a little EQ. What you are requesting is a list of “high quality vocal” specialist effects to be added to a guitar amp modeller and multi-fx unit. Helix is designed mainly for guitar work, although those nice folks at Line 6 have included Send/Return FX Loops, so if you wish to add a TC Helicon VoiceLive, or a Boss VE-500 into the signal chain the option is there. #3: - Hmm … “A guitar modulator that turns your solid body humbucker equipped guitar into a open coil Strat, that gives you full flexibility of different guitar tones without having to haul 6 guitars to a recording session, jam or gig.” I think this sort of thing has already been done by Line 6, with a guitar solution called Variax. #4: - Drum roll - Ibanez TS10 - post your suggestion to IdeaScale, but check how many others have also put the same idea forward. (Pause for dramatic effect). You never know you might get lucky with that one, but don’t hold your breath. I bought my Helix for what it could do at the time - not what I wish it could do in future. Hope this helps/makes sense.

The problem with Fractal sandwiches is the plethora of advanced options - mayo, mustard, ketchup (even CATSUP!), lettuce (6 different types), tomatoes, eggplant, rutabaga, the list goes on and on! I'd spend all my time tweaking and wind up starving to death!

Was in a very prog band in the 70's, Genesis/Yes/Kansas/Crimson etc - the Tubes were high on our list. I had this whole spiel memorized and would rattle it off easily (often under the influence of various and sundry pharmaceuticals). We went all around to stores and begged/bought/stole (?) as much POP displays as we could get our hands on (Point Of Purchase). So during the rap there'd be giant cardboard soup cans, cassette boxes, beer bottles - any product, you name it - getting thrown around stage. Good times! (Wish the Helix had been around then...)

Was in a metallish band back then - VH, Priest, Night Ranger, etc. We also did a couple of Tubes tunes - Talk To Ya Later, White Punks on Dope and, of course, What Do You Want from Life. I went to see them at a small club in SF, forget the name, Bimbo's? They were hysterical! During "Smoke" Fee Waybill and Jane Dornacker sat at a cafe type table for two and literally smoked so many cigarettes you could barely see them on stage. Try doing THAT today!

Well, if folks insist on putting together ridiculous lists, then this one from the Tubes is pure genius. I really cannot understand why someone buys a guitar modelling device and then puts forth a list of exotic/expensive, or boutique effects, that they seem to feel they should be given FREE. It’s just possible that because I got old that I started to despair! Either that, or I have become like my late father, because I can almost here him saying - “Kids nowadays!”. 2

It will not take your, for example, Strat and make it sound like a Les Paul. This does claim to do that. I never used or seen one in person so I can't speak to how well it works. https://sim1guitar.com/xt-1/

My solution while I was playing a Les Paul for a few years: freewayswitch.com/products You need compatible humbuckers, of course. (Les Paul sold in the meantime but I kept the humbuckers and the switch. Eventually I may put them either into my Ibanez semi-acoustic or my old Epiphone Emperor jazz guitar…)
