  1. Thanks. I was hoping a VDI would be more secure since it uses a more professional way to transfer the power.
  2. Yo, heres a recording of my SG since I'm at my house again. First part is the bridge, second part is the neck. http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/21663288/Music/sgdry.mp3 The only difference between the patch I made and my actual SG is the attack is brighter when you hit the strings harder on the Variax, which I actually like and can get the SG sounds in the videos I posted earlier.
  3. So I was away playing my Variax with batteries because I forgot the plug for my foot switch, and I've noticed that the Variax is quieter in terms of stuff like changing models and transferring models from workbench. I don't know if that's normal but it's always been like that since I've had the guitar. My question is, does a VDI POD sound quieter than a foot switch power supply? I notice the power supply itself is noisy when you move the cable while it's on as well, and even the cable doesn't make noise when I'm using batteries. Can anyone weigh in on this?
  4. That warble is nothing. The only question I have is is the warble when doing hammer ons and pull offs on the high frets still so bad that it plays a different note than you're playing still? This is a problem I have on my Variax, did they fix that in the HD firmware? I really need an answer for this please.
  5. Is this HD firmware? You're think they'd fix that by now. I thought they made the pitch shifting better. Edit: Listening to your example, I don't think it's bad at all. When you say warble I thought you meant really bad warble. It's kind of something you have to accept with pitch shifting.
  6. I'd kill for a Variax Bass, might be my first bass I ever get, I honestly need one.
  7. Can't do my SG right now because I'm not at home atm. My SG doesn't have the best attack because of the pickups being a bit muddy. Like I said, I based it on mine and tweaked it to other recordings of SGs.
  8. I did an A/B comparison between my SG and other SG recordings. Brighter attack than my personal SG but the overall tone was about the same. I can hit you up with recordings of my SG models on my Variax for you to work with.
  9. I don't have a JTV, but I suggest using the LP special as the body, LP humbuckers and back the humbuckers up towards the bridge a smidge. That's how I did it in the old firmware, give it a try and adjust from there.
  10. How's the tuning stability on these when using a whammy? Highly considering one over a Tusq now.
  11. I'm starting to have problems with my Variax. It won't work correctly unless I position the coffin to press down into the cavity and up towards the top. If I don't it will select the wrong models or plainly not turn on correctly/give a good signal. I put some card board to force it into position for now, and it's alright now, but does anyone know what could be causing this? I checked the wires that go from the coffin's case to screws and they seem ok. I tried to check other wires leading into the electronics, moving them around, but it does nothing unless I just force the coffin to lay hard on the cavity's bottom and the top side of the cavity. Help would be appreciated so I don't have to open this up again to fix the positioning (It did it again last night). I think the cardboard helps but there's a small rise in the pickguard that I find annoying and dangerous for stuff to get into the electronics.
  12. I thought they did something to clog the route to the electronics better. It's a serious hazard for short circuiting to happen. I just cleaned out my 600 for fret debris causing grounding static within the signal every 10 seconds, so it's a realistic scenario.
  13. Awesome post. Down to a T. 99.99% sure 89 is being discontinued because of the 89F as well. It just took long because they weren't sure whether to make a bridge or install a premade piezo floyd, graphtech having the answer. Anyone know if the Graphtech uses ghosts or LR baggs piezos? Also I'd kill for a Tele JTV. Personally I want a trem with my JTV (69 specifically) but I'd definitely kill for a Tele JTV.
  14. I would probably want a new 69 considering the neck issues and string ball cavity issues :/
  15. Well I know they changed the pitch shifting a bit so that was my main concern. I use my 600 to lay bass tracks because I don't have a real one. Sounds pretty convincing in a mix. Not as nice and clean as a real bass but it's a lot better than a conventional pitch shifter. Sounds good through a bass amp sim.
  16. I have a Bass guitar patch on my 600 that I use. It's really nice. I was wondering if you can still pull a convincing bass guitar sound with the new JTV firmware?
  17. Nice videos guys! Just because this forum is mostly for the purpose of helping out problems doesn't mean we can't have fun talking about that stuff.
  18. A/D is done when the piezo signal goes into the DSP. D/A happens before the 1/4 output. In a VDI it happens before the POD's output.
  19. Ah. Is he putting the JTV guts into a new guitar? I've only seen 1 JTV transplant so far but they didn't play it sadly in the video.
  20. The only thing I can suggest is a pedal that can boost levels or just adjust your amp accordingly.
  21. This. When using a VDI it sends the digital signal to the pod. The 1/4 uses a D/A so it probably will be inconsistent. Just stick to one signal unless you honestly have to use 1/4.
  22. There's no way they'd do it directly, but I get what you mean about the CC messages. I could dig that. It would be nice to use on amp sims. So, John confirmed the strat springs being emulated, How about the bigsby ring?
